First?
you fail at life.
Yeah, we were confused that you made it to the egg first, too.
YES I WIN I AM FIRST WHOOHOOO!
Derp.
you sir fail at life
This one is not true… there are several Episodes feat. Bathrooms…
I too can remember several episodes of TNG that have bathrooms.
even in the original series, there are several episodes where a couple characters will be talking in one characters room and one will be in the bathroom, they all just have them in their rooms
They have shiny towels.
Everything’s shiny, Mal
And there’s a space show that DOES have bathrooms.
Enterprise featured several shower scenes.
This graph forgot “dying redshirts”
They also forgot “hot women/aliens” and “McCoy gets owned by Spock”
red shirts dont die in later series except they are a new chara and say something like “hope i dont die”
Specifically: Kirk breaks the heart of a hot woman/alien.
You beat me to pointing this out…
That is not true. There are two episodes of ST:TOS where characters come out of a bathroom. Granted you don’t see much, but still they are there.
I’ve always wondered what happens when they get stuck in the holodeck for a long time (days in some episodes). The holodeck can create a bathroom but if you use it, where does it go? And what happens when they finally turn off the holodeck?
Maybe there is a sort of “de-replicator” built into the holodeck, so they can use it to be replicated into food
I think there must be a “de-replicator” on the holodeck, since there is a regular replicator used to make various objects that appear there, so it should have some way equipped to remove those objects as well. As I remember, though, the scenery moves as the people inside move, so I always wondered what would happen if the crew were to try to spread out to a wider area than the size of the holodeck. Would they hit the walls?
Hint: If you are wondering how they do their business on the holodeck, you are over thinking it.
Are we talking strictly TOS? Archer in ENT and Torres in VOY use showers (his with water with comic effect when the gravity shuts off, she with a sonic shower). Riker and Troi use their bathroom sinks in TNG.
And troi was once found in a bathtub while she was an amphibious half evolved creature.
You mean devolved.
True! Forgot about that one. So I guess the more proper “thing never seen” would be a toilet?
Nothing can be devoled. There are no such things as evolutionary levels. That whole episodes take on introns was horrific.
‘Ya talk to a Twilight fan lately?
And in First Contact Picard was dancing in his bathroom in his dream, right before he saw a Borg implant pop out of his face.
First episode of VOY neelix is in a bathtub
cant be unseen
They just go where no man has gone before.

Lame. Star-Trek-Clichés have so much more potential. I’d recommend this article (Although the other Trekkies here might already know this page):
http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/inconsistencies/cliches1.htm
This isn’t even a Star Trek cliché, very few TV shows show bathrooms because, well, it’s not important.
Buffy had bathroom scenes all the time.
There’s a reason I said “very few” and not “none”
Well, besides the fact that saying “none” would’ve been terrible grammar…
Yeah and think of it – would you really want to see what characters do there?
Yeah, I was about to point this out. Do you want to see them use the bathroom?
I take it you don’t know where the astronauts do it…
Since they’re in space chances are that still applies…
Which is why red-shirts usually commit suicide on missons
There’s also a door marked “Head” on the bridge of the Enterprise D.
several episodes featured bathrooms. not a single episode featured seatbelts, however.
they don’t need seatbelts, because they have inertial dampeners, which fails more often than the holodeck, the engines, the warp core, weapons, life support, and the transporters combined.
yet out of all these systems that fail so often, for some reason the artificial gravity never fails (except for that one episode of enterprise)
why would someone want to see a bathroom in a si-fi movie in the first place?
the one who made this graph must have some weird fatish…
SCAT!
Dudes, it’s the 24th century! Of course there is only one logical reason: bathroom pants! Including de-replicating metabolism products, replicating ocean breeze odor (optional: citrus fresh, strawberry meadow or grandma’s fresh baked brownie plate on a window board) and build-in barbershop for boy- and girl-parts.
Well, I concluded that they don’t have to go to the bathroom anymore. All the waste material is just beamed out of their body automatically…
Hope everyone just pictured that
That’s certainly the conclusion we came to after reviewing plans for the Enterprise (D if memory serves but this was a long time ago) and discovering that they only have two bathrooms.
And you thought dealing with bird droppings here on Earth was bad. . . >_>
Why would we even WANT to see bathrooms in TV shows. Do you watch TV and say to yourself, “Boy I’d love to know more about this character’s bowel movements!”
If so, you are part of a very small demographic
Does ANY tv-series ever feature a bathroom unless the bathroom is neccesary for the story? And why would you even WANT to see someone using the bathroom? If you’ve got a thing for that, there are special movies out there for you, you know.
You know what? I’ve noticed this in almost every movie and video game I’ve ever seen. Especially in video games. Characters must be reincarnations of Chuck Norris or something, because they never sleep, eat, drink, or go to the bathroom, and none of the houses have bathrooms.
I’ve never seen a full episode of Star Trek, so thanks for summing up the typical content.
you forgot to put in, ” Captain Kirk falling in love with alien women from every planet of mission”
they must have evolved to not need bathrooms 0_o
…He’s dead Jim…
Not every episode, but often enough that everyone gets the joke
oh great now the red bars are going to die!
Firefly showed the Captain zipping up and flushing in the first episode for no real reason other than he was using a cool toilet that folds in to the wall.
So not true. I saw one yesterday. No water there though..
