  1. AL says:

I’m the FIRST to say i like Ramen noodles and I’m not in college!!

  2. Sussy says:

You forget the other staples… Campbells soup, spaghetti-o’s, and cereal

    • Bltz says:

And how did you cure your scurvy?

      • Viaken says:

Actually, Spaghetti-O’s are fortified with vitamins. ;)

      • o-range says:

Scurvy isn’t as easy to get as you think, and it’s super-easy to cure. Just about ANY vitamin C would keep it at bay, and Spaghetti-O’s have remnants of tomato in the sauce.

        • Sussy says:

And most cereal has a decent number of vitamins. Not to mention vitamin pills. I also forgot pizza. Always get a large, if it’s the same price. Save the leftovers. Only be aware of people stealing your pizza, it’s likely to happen, and most people don’t pitch in. But that Papa Johns deal they had going for the super bowl was pretty sweet.

          • Sussy says:

And burritos!! Like Chipotle or Mission burrito… Mission burrito (Only available in Houston) has a deal going where Monday, tuesday, wednesday is $5 burrito day. Those can be around 1500 calories, so, split that in half and use it for two meals! $2.50 a meal. And you really don’t need to eat an entire burrito in one sitting anyway.

            • O.o says:

But if you’re in college, you probably could eat a whole one. Im not in college yet and I have been known to bring home 2 Subway footlongs and theyre gone in < 60 minutes.

              • =P says:

                Thats to true!
Or three pizzas. Thats 5for5 deal rocks.

And just to say, If i smell Ramen at this point I will kill it -.- Apperently there is a limit…about 2 semesters

  3. Anastasi says:

    Lol. So true.
I find it funny that I’m eating ramen right now XD

  4. Jen says:

Got me. College girl, ate my last ramen yesterday…

  5. lolmostrsrt says:

    What about mac and cheese?

  6. Vifon says:

I survived on ramen my first year of college. Adding chilli and other spices helps the taste, too.

  7. Aaron Moreno says:

I HATE RAMEN. I had to survive on nothing but ramen for 7 days. I HATE RAMEN WITH A PASSION!!!!!!

  8. Sarah W says:

I’m wondering if the person who made this went to college. They spelt ‘convenient’ wrong.

No Ramen noodles in Britain but plenty of ‘Super noodles’ and ‘pot noodles’

  9. StarKin says:

And if your like me and lucky enough to be within biking distance of an Asian Food Market? Imported instant noodles may be twice the price of the Publix version – but I’ll pay the extra $0.20 for the great flavor and the challenge of trying to translate the Korean cooking instructions! (or Japanese, or Chinese, or……. Hindu???? (I guess India qualifies as part of Asia))

  10. wonkadonka says:

Ramen are not easy on the stomach

  11. starling says:

IndoMie noodles beat Ramen noodles hands down.

  12. adrian says:

    +1 for IndoMie!!!

    MI GORENG > RAMEN :D :D:D

  13. o-range says:

The best ramen is the fried stuff you get in a good restaurant, piled on top with veggies and meat. Pot noodle/instant ramen that can be gotten over here in the colonies is, by comparison, garbage.

When I was in Japan I was able to get instant ramen soups that had packets of actual (not dried) kimchi and barbecued pork in them. I miss that so much (especially in winter – kimchi has no equal for warming you up. Except maybe rum).

    • TehBunneh says:

Yeah, i tasted real ramen when i visited japan too…i still have wet dreams about the stuff, it’s delicious. The dried stuff is..uh.. nowhere near the real stuff, not even in terms of taste.

      • Ralf says:

First, observe the whole bowl. Appreciate the gestalt. Savour the aromas. Jewels of fat glittering on the surface, shinchaku roots shining.

  14. gloworm says:

Sick of the college and ramen cliche. I think people in college eat ramen only because the stereotype has been engrained in their psyche. There’s plenty of healthier cheap food.

    • nope says:

Agreed. I was very poor in college and I only ate ramen noodles a couple of times. Everyone who thinks they are “dried” is ridiculous. Ramen noodles are deep-fried in palm oil (which just so happens to be one of the WORST oils) and are terrible for you. Enough sodium to kill a small cow.

  15. . says:

what the hell is convlenent? Seriously.

  16. Bob says:

I Guess they didn’t teach Venn Diagrams in college.

  17. Bob says:

I went to college and I’ve never had Ramen Noodles.

  18. cygna says:

Ramen isn’t so bad. Fresh and canned vegetables are actually pretty cheap add ins. Adding a few good spices helps too. If you can afford meat at all, that makes it even better.
I had a huge craving for it a few days ago when I was nursing a cold. I nuked a big mug of water with baby carrots, some chunks of red potato and some onion slivers. I added just a little of the packet, a crumble of the noodles and a dash of garlic salt and pepper.

    • WorldsTallestMidget says:

Adding sh** to Ramen defeats the purpose of eating Ramen in America.
30 cents a cup, done in 3 minutes, saves your a$$ when you’re flat broke. Add this to generic spaghettios, bologna, and cheap bakery-outlet-store bread and Hamburger Helper (MINUS THE MEAT) and you have my grocery list at age 18!

  19. scott says:

You obviously don’t know how a venn diagram works. The center section is for things that meet every other section. This means that Ramen noodles are both expensive and cheap. Also, convenient while taking too long. simpleton.

  20. Somebody Else says:

Whoever wrote this has a skewed perception of cheap – you can make a good (and healthier) dinner for half the price of fast food. You can make dinner for a family for the cost of one single burger, and pizza? don’t even mention it!

  21. shoopith-da-whoopith says:

i don’t like ramen that much, so when i go to college im gunna be screwed :C

    • WorldsTallestMidget says:

Learn to love them! U can buy a whole week’s worth for $3! ALso, get to know bologna, store-brand bread and canned pasta, and Kool Aid!

  22. d4m4s74 says:

    pop mie is tasty too

  23. me!!! says:

EASY ON THE STOMACH??? Last time I ate Ramen, I violently vomited everywhere, and had extreme cramps and headaches.

    • lucy says:

i agree, after a while it either just comes back up or comes out of you in liquid form.

      I attend art school. I know/

  24. ashiiya says:

Ah yeah. All the good real food is expensive (my college has like diners everywhere and it’s not cheap). On the other hand, there’s lots of vending machines that aren’t TOO overpriced so that’s ok, I guess. Unless you’re on a meal plan, but then again, you’re not gonna like all the food that’s in the meal plan so that’s kind of like wasting money. I say take bunches of ramen from home xD

  25. rickybobby says:

They just need to admit it to everyone and start calling that junk Purina Student Chow.

Back in my school days, I lived pretty much on cheap tacos, almost always from a stand who’s name ended with “-berto’s”. I went for the cheapest of the cheap. Lengua (tongue), cabeza (braised meat from the head, no brains), tripas (tripe) and stuff like that. All tasty and under $3 for 2 tacos at most places.
