I LOVE velcro shoes and I am 26 and not a virgin at all! I wear girls ones that are my size but look likes mens… I WISH they would make more mens skater shoes with velcro… I think there’s nothin wrong with it!

This may have been true back when you were in school, but certainly not these days. My son who is 9, and my daughter who is 7, both have New Balance’s that have the Z strap type velcro and their friends all love them. Also, I have noticed the kids who are “skaters” wearing DC’s that are velcro.

You don’t need velcro if you just tie your shoes once, and then put them on and remove them without untying the laces.
There are always sandals too, but some sandals have velcro straps. Are velcro sandals as socially unacceptable as regular velcro shoes? The only other thing I ask is that if you’re going to wear sandals, please please PLEASE do not wear socks especially with flip flops. I just want to step on those peoples’ toes.

How much time over a lifetime does one waste tying one’s shoes? Multiply that by the number of people who tie their shoes. Considerable amount of person hours, is it not? Velcro shoes for me kiddo!

I would just like to add that when I was little, my mother refused to buy me velcro shoes, thinking that it’s a bad excuse to get around teaching your kid to tie her shoelaces, and I always badly envied all the kids who had them. At 31, I’m still bitter about it today. I’d love to have velcro shoes now, actually, but they dont’ make them for adults.

There are few things I love more than shoes, especially old-school Adidas Gazelles and high-end running shoes from Brooks and Saucony. Velcro on shoes should be illegal unless it is somehow related to the performance of the shoe in some type of sport. Lace-ups or slip-ons only. And none of those stupid slip-ons that look like lace-ups.

Graph is wrong. Velcro is not accepted after age 6, It only comes back much later. Kids between 6-11 who have velcro shoes are probably not good at tying them and will be made fun of for this. In middle or high school the only people who wear them are either trying to be different or special needs.

I loved Velcro and corduroy because them made cool sounds, but these were not socially acceptable.

Yeah I’ve got velcro shoes. Partly because I’m lazy, partly because I have a friend who likes to tie people’s shoe laces together when she’s bored. The look on her face when she realized I was wearing velcro was priceless.

By baby you mean ages 0-12? It’s just saying that a lot of things kids find interesting and enjoyable, older adults do as well. In this case velcro shoes.
