I have the skullcandy ink’d. Love them, good sound & noise cancellation, good base and they fit my 1st gen iPhone without an adapter. I have had one pair for well over a year and a half – and they still work, even after being stepped on a couple times. I took some scotch tape around the joint and sealed it with a lighter… (almost) good as new. I’ve bought a couple other pairs since then just to have them around, and no problems whatsoever.
I guess it really depends on how hard you are on headphones…

Well, I ordered a pair of iFrogz Timbre from amazon, though I had to get someone to forward them since I live in Canada. It’s been about three-four weeks and I still haven’t gotten them. Probably since the guy who forwarded them picked USPS’s cheapest shipping…

The headphone’s from my Blackberry Bold 9000 are pretty damned good though…

Koss KTXPRO’s. They’re $20, Sound pretty damn good for the money, and if they break, you can send them Koss with $6 and get a new pair. Actually, just about all Koss headphones have that lifetime warranty where you can get a new pair for $6. Also, the Sparkplugs and the KEB24’s are good candidates if you’re looking for an earbud style. And the you can get the latter ones at WalMart.

yeah like skullcandy ink’d. they have excellent bass and are like earplugs with speakers in them. which is great when you’re on a bus or noisy place. AND they come in many colors =).

(but my friend said his broke in a month… its been 3 weeks and mine are still good… i guess we’ll see)

Nope, doesn’t even have to be loud. I’ve had cheap pairs of headphones (not earbuds) die in a month from a mix of 50% cheery flash game music I’m too lazy to turn off and 50% grunge music, played very quietly from my laptop.

Actually, you can made custom-molded plugs for your in-ear phones for a reasonable price at any place that sells hearing aids. If this won’t make you feel comfortable, nothing will. Circum-aural and supra-aural phones are usually comfy, and earbuds – let’s face it, earbuds were made to: a) be cheap and b) suck.

Also, if you’re listening to lossy-compressed music (such as MP3), you probably do not want those high-end headphones anyway – they’ll just bring out the defects in your recordings.

Me, I reason that if you put something to use every single day, you may as well spend some money on it. Therefore my portable cans are Audio-Technica ATH-ESW9: pretty nice but definitely not suitable for sane people.

I have a pair of sennheisers which only cost 20 bucks and sound friggin awesome. Their top of the line stuff is pretty pricey, but their lower priced headphones sound great compared to other headphones of the same price.

I have lost one pair of skullcandy in the past two years, and it was due to cable damage. I listen to nearly every genre of music save for hiphop and country. And I am YET to blow a pair. How can you even do that? It would make your ears BLEED.

That’s not necessarily true. I bought earbuds that have amazing sound quality and lasted along time, but theres those weird ones that go a good distance into your ear canal, so you cant hear anything else.

See, I think “doesn’t fit your ear” and “blown in 2 weeks” should be swapped. I agree there are headphones that don’t follow this, but you have to go looking. They’re not at Best Buy or Walmart.

Sennheiser are the best, but also overpriced, because they know they can sell them for a lot of money. If you want THE single best headphone ever made, you should probably go Sennheiser, but be prepared to get your cash out. But if you want quality for less money, I’d say go with something else, I went with Devon, but most important of all, bring your music device of choice to the shop, and listen to your music of choice on a few headphones before buying them.

Absolutely right. I think the flaw of the OP is that he wants good sounding earbuds that won’t break. Which is an improbability. They need to get over their sense of fashion and buy based on sound alone.

I have 1 thing to say on this chart: Sony MDR-7509HD. Don’t cost an aful lot and it’s the best headset ever. THis baby is used in professional recording studios around the world (or the MDR-7506). If you look after your stuff you should be able to enjoy it at least 20 years.
