    1st :P

on to the graph…you must have a really fat wife :P

  2. Scott S says:

    Too true. =\

  3. boozer says:

    That’s livin’ on the edge.

Actually, this is also my life

  4. Allie says:

I’ve heard said that the true head of the household sleeps on the right side of the bed.

    • Tourist on this planet says:

Right side as you’re looking at it from the foot of the bed, or as you’re lying in it face up?

    • potpiekitty says:

I think it depends on whether you’re right or left-handed. I’m left-handed and so I sleep on my right side on the right side of the bed.
Or maybe I am the true head of the household… yeah maybe you have a point there.

    • prisbro says:

in my case, my hubby insists on sleeping nearest the door, to protect me from danger. kinda stupid when you consider our baby’s room is closer to the front of the house. i love to move the furniture around to drive him nuts, bwahahaha!

  5. Tseran says:

Nah, I had an ex GF who was the same way, had to claim 90% of the bed because she was ‘used’ to sleeping alone. And any complaints were met with “well it’s my bed!” Needless to say, there’s a good reason she’s an ex.

  6. Blesh says:

I’m a woman and I can confirm this graph.

  7. Lin says:

Come on guys, be nice! Surely your wife only uses a tiny part in the middle of the bed, the rest is yours! The middle part is just the best part! Moreover, I was there first! :p

  8. crack says:

they want to cuddle and we want space. They get closer and we can only go as far.

  9. Lisa C. says:

And this is how it should be.

  10. Hein says:

This is too true. And then my soon-to-be ex-wife would of course also complain that I moved and woke her up …

  11. matt says:

this, except theres about 12.5% in between us, for 2 cats to sleep (the cats and me share a 1/4)

    • bodo says:

I was going to say – our 10-pound (around 4 kgs? I think?) kitty usually takes most of her half of the bed from my wife’s side, leaving us with something like a sixth each. And it’s a Western king – 72″ wide by 84″ long.

What, is my math incorrect in some way? What?

      • Stephanie says:

I usually sleep alone, which is good – my twin isn’t comfortable and I usually spend the morning after wondering around waiting for him to get the hell out of my bed. Still, my dachshund is adept at putting himself in such a place that I have to curl up into the upper fourth of my bed. How an animal that is about 10% of my size takes up 75% of the sleeping space I have yet to discern, but when I do…

  12. Annalyn says:

Well, you could always slip out of the bed and come back on the other side. She’ll never find you.

    • skyy says:

yeah, getting out of bed and walking to the other side gives about 15 minutes before she relizes your not there and rolls over the other way. my ex and i did this for 2 yrs.

  13. Jess says:

This situation seems all too familiar, except my boyfriend is the one with all the space. He tends to sleep on a diagonal, then rolls like a rotisserie chicken so I end up at the edge of the bed with no covers. :(

    • Ariadne says:

      Yeah, same to me.

    • MajaLena says:

“then rolls like a rotisserie chicken” made me lol.

And oh, the horrors of a blanket-stealing bed hog. :P

    • Nebton says:

Is he tall? If so, a California King might solve the problem. That’s what we have, and I don’t have to sleep diagonally. Of course, as the graph suggests, my 5′2″ wife still manages to take up most of the bed space.

    • Amandarandom says:

Same here, so we have two sets of blankets, a 2-person one and a single one. we start under the same blanket, and wake up under separate ones.

    • Jess says:

We’re both avg height (5′7″ & 5″8″), I just think he likes to sleep on a diagonal. Carried over from being single I’m sure. As for covers, he can’t stand the thin sheet below the blanket so he kicks it down during the night as well. Drives me bonkers! >_<

    • Phaelin says:

      Nikki? Is that you?

    • elissa says:

Boy, does that sound familiar! My hubby is either driving me to the edge of the bed or rolling away with the covers firmly clenched in his hands.

It has gotten better since I got pregnant. My body pillow has helped reclaim a good 8″ of space on my side of the bed, as well as working as a retaining wall to keep me from falling out. And since I’m always hot now, I don’t mind not having covers.

  14. Yosh says:

This graphmaker is lucky. I wish I had that much space! I end up with my knees off the bed while grabbing the mattress in my sleep to keep from falling off the bed.
In addition to her insisting on using flannel sheets, 2 blankets, and a comforter in the summer and getting mad when I pile them on her covering up with just the sheet because she gets hot.

  15. Alyse says:

We like to cuddle! It’s a compliment really.

  16. Tiff says:

This is too true at our house! We joke that MY side of the bed is the top side!

  17. Andre says:

Accurate but missing the huge body pillow she uses to usurp bed space.

  18. Dinks says:

And yet you still love her :)

  19. MajaLena says:

If it’s my bed, I don’t care if you fell asleep there first. I’ll push you off/over.

Though I did have an ex boyfriend who claimed 95% of the bed. It was a queen, and I was on the edge all night because he was so keen on this “cuddling” thing. I’d be pushing him over to his side all night. I want my space when I sleep.

This graph applies to me and my cats as well. They take most of the room, and I’m fine sleeping like a contortionist so they remain comfy.

    • Greymoya says:

This. I sleep with three dachshunds and a greyhound. The greyhound gets the bottom half of the bed and the dachshunds get the rest. If I lay still, I’m allowed to have any room left over.

  20. JulianKingOfNothing says:

I’ve been reading wusses comments right now.. show her who’s wearing the pants in the house

  21. Dave says:

    TRUE.

Funny thing though, even if she wakes up and gets out of bed, I still only take up that little space on the edge.

  22. Jeff says:

Ah… Good old FNMD. Female Nocturnal Manifest Destiny.

  23. Why not? says:

There’s nothing that can’t be fixed here with gentle pressure to the ribs with a thumb or elbow.

Kidding aside, I’m blessed to have a wife that happily sleeps on the “pink” side. We have a very egalitarian sleep system set up. And then there’s the cats….

  24. IHazFive says:

You’re sleeping on the woman’s side of the bed; what did you expect?

  25. snowboundsunbunny says:

Backwards for me and my boyfriend. He takes up about 2/3 of the bed.

  26. Again says:

The problem is you aren’t keepin the b*tch in line…

Grow some BALLS and man up now or you will NEVER have dominance over the stupid girl!

  27. chatmort says:

My trick was to hug her so I wasn’t always about to fall off and she wouldn’t move too much .. now I have all the space, that’s the good side of it.

  28. humor me says:

I am the edge sleeper (f). My ex would sleep wherever, and that wasn’t the problem until he snored. Then my elbow came into play. We slept with our last dog in bed at the bottom under the covers, and up to 4 cats in bed. Our first cat together slept curled in the crook of my arm under my chin. He could sleep in one position all night and make the bed by folding the corner of the sheets back in place. I have to completely strip the bed and remake it because it looks like I’ve slept with a tornado. I don’t know how we stood each other for as long as we did.

  29. Dina says:

By this graph, I am the man in my relationship. GOOD TO KNOW :D

  30. Bobnine says:

Just get a super king, then you will almost have half as much space as you do by yourself on a single.

  31. ajohnson153 says:

This graph is all too true for my wife and I. I sometimes have to wake her up and ask her to move over so I don’t fall off. Thankfully she has managed to stop pulling the top sheet off of the bed. We used to wake up and the entire top sheet would be wrapped around her. Never understood how that happened.

  32. yrb says:

    that bitch

  33. sarah says:

lol Its the opposite in our house! I DO sleep on the girl side, but my fiancee hogs the rest of the bed, and covers too. I usually wake up sometime in the night, right on the edge, with no blankets on me. RUDE! I grab my blanket back and nudge him if he grumbles about it…And as for cuddling…I like to at first, but then move away from him because he’s like a furnace! HOT!

    • Mandy says:

LoL me too! It’s nice to have a furnace for a fiance when you’re cold or you need to get that initial warmth going for a cold bed. Eventually I start to smell burning bacon and have to back off too!

    • Casa says:

Totaly… I swear you could bake cookies on my man while he sleeps.
FINE! have the covers… but those pillows are MINE! ^^

      • JP says:

Rule #1: When a woman says “FINE!”, it is NOT fine.

Also, I was the one to hog the bed and covers. My ex would sleep on the wall’s side so she would not fall off the bed. Oops.

    • Zero says:

My ex and I were the same way. She used to call me her heater. And just when i would find a comfortable position with her cuddling me, she would roll away saying she was too hot, which means she would have to lay out like an X to dissipate all of the excess heat i just bestowed upon her!

    • Phaelin says:

Yeah, I tend to be that way with my girlfriend. Most times I throw all covers off because I’m deathly hot. She’s cold and will more often than not stick her exposed icicles to my stomach and legs. BRR!

  34. someguy says:

just sleep on top or under her, idiot

  35. minagiv says:

This is the reverse for me and the hubby… right down to the sides of the bed we sleep on!!

  36. deepblue says:

    That is so true…

  37. barn says:

So true, my girlfriend does this. Was worse when she still had a single bed, that quite frankly wasn’t even single. It isn’t too bad if I’m against the wall, but I’m usually not. She claims she wants to be close to me, but she can lie in the middle and still be close to me then I can actually spread out!

    • barn says:

she also claims I steal the covers, which I so don’t, and she can pull them back over her if I do, I have to wake her up to get her to move, and she moves about 5 inches.

  38. metaltothedeath says:

I sleep alone and only take up the very very edge of the bed.
    Guess I’m set… o.O

  39. Reanna says:

This Is Why I Never Sleep At My BF’s House.
I Take Up All The Space, He Sleeps On The Edge & Did I Mention He Has A Twin?
So He Gets Mad At Me When He Wakes Up From Hitting The Floor. Lol.
Luckily I Own A King Size.
    : 3

  40. Sarah says:

I’m not married and I don’t think I’ve ever shared a bed with a boyfriend before, but I have slept next to some of my girl friends. Never had any space issues, but I tend to take all the blankets. I’ve slept on the couch with boyfriends, however, but I’m usually on the edge and falling off because they sleep behind me.

  41. tartcouplet says:

If my boyfriend cuddled with me before I went to sleep, I’d leave him at least half the bed. The trouble comes when he rolls all the way away from me and the only way to be close to him is to take up 3/4 of the bed.
