TECHNO MUSIC? Someone here has no idea about electronic music Oo

    • Hoodis says:

      x2
Why is electronic music always refered as techno? -.-

      • Dude says:

Because ALL of it does oonce-oonce-oonce-oonce

        • blubb says:

Yeah, I totally have to agree here. In my ears, so called “different genres” like Electro/Techno/Rave/Dance/House/Jungle/Drum&Bass/… etc. just vary a bit in their BPM rates and bass frequencies/intensities.

          • blubb says:

            (sry for double post)
Forgot to say that I don’t hate that kind of music generally, there are actually some nice songs, especially from the 90s, but I don’t mind sub-classifying them because the differences are so tiny so I just call them “techno” altogether.

            • Andrea M says:

I give you a 100% solid guarantee that I could play you a happy hardcore track and a dubstep track and you would start understanding your genre differences very quickly. I had to learn all my genres from scratch and very precisely too since I got brought into the scene by DJs and so mixing up my genres was not allowed. Once you sit down and really start listening and going “okay, this track is house, this track is trance, this track is DnB” it starts to get pretty easy. Then you start learning your sub-genres and inter-mixed genres and you have to work a bit harder, but pretty soon you can tell your progressive house from your electro house and your tech house. It’s really just a process of exposing yourself and having somebody good teaching you.

For those interested in keeping all their genres straight, I suggest checking out Ishkur’s Guide. http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/

              • rob says:

So you’re the girl on the arm of the douchebag at the clubs. Got it.

                • Andrea M says:

Not quite. My man hates clubs with a passion so the only time I’m on a guy’s arm is using a friend as a surrogate boyfriend to escape a douchebag. If you’re trying to say that Djs are douchebags though, you are quite wrong. Sure there’s the occasional egomaniac in the bunch, but the vast majority of DJs, even the really popular ones, are just chill people out to have fun playing music. They run the gamot from bouncing off the walls hysterical fun to extremely quiet and shy to the point of being almost unapproachable.

                • Seb says:

                  Worst. Chat-up. Ever.

    • Phygar says:

I agree also. I hate when people think all electronic dance music is techno. Not sure how that happened either.

  2. Stats says:

    oO poster #1 is right

  3. bloke says:

Yup, lady gaga is definitely not techno.

  4. names are for whores says:

I’m pretty sure singing about wanting to have sex with someone and actually singing about being a whore are two different things.

  5. quix0te says:

    Haterade. Now in cherry flavor!

  6. Horsey says:

So Lady Gaga gets criticized for singing about the same thing that 3oh3 sings about?

    • Jeice says:

Yeah, but 3oh3 is “ironic.” And totally not idiots.

      • MyShell says:

        Oh dear…

      • Andrea M says:

Having watched 3Oh!3 grow from local band to super stars here in the Colorado scene, I have to agree. They do seem to be fully aware of their irony from the get go, and both are CU kids from Boulder. It’s easy to be a pretentious asshole if you’re from Boulder, but the place is a pretty ridiculous brain trust.

  7. Starsky says:

Crazy outfit = more attention than she really deserves

  8. Andrea M says:

I’m not even a techno fan and I can solidly say Lady Gaga is not fucking techno. Call her “techno” and a techno fan will probably punch you in the face. If anything she’s electro-pop, and as a die-hard electro fan specifically of the indie variety who will defend electro with my dying breath, I’m okay with it. I mean, we already have a couple of dudes running around in Venom masks and all sorts of weirdly made up and dressed people in the genre, Lady Gaga just takes it to the logical conclusion on the mainstream side.

Techno is traditionally cold, dark, unfeeling, and sounds like half-dead Detroit or Germany. Lady Gaga sounds like rainbow glitter and cocaine.

    • KDonovan says:

“Rainbow glitter and cocaine” is SO exactly, perfectly evocative of what she sounds like. I wish I had thought of this simile.

In fact I would be completely unsurprised if that was a track title from her next album.

  9. MK1K says:

This is my favorite thing ever.

  10. Mr. Obvious says:

Call it what you want, she is damn sexy.

  11. itwasadarkandstormynight says:

For all the people arguing about whether she’s techno or electro or whatever, you’re all totally missing the point…

    • Andrea M says:

Clearly you’re not a deep-scene intense EDM fan. Genres are sort of life-and-death issues in the electronic music world and to call her “techno” is to piss off a huge number of jaded late 20’s to 30’s ex ravers who for reasons completely unknown are still in the scene. Techno exists these days almost purely as a genre for jaded bastards who want to sit in a dark hole with other jaded bastards drinking snobby beers and discuss how their scene is dead and how amazing it all used to be. I’m not sure there’s a genre farther from the truth for Lady GaGa than “techno.”

I’m just saying this to protect the techno fans from having an anuerism and to protect all people who don’t know their EDM genres backwards-forwards-upside-down-rightside-up from getting slaughtered by the techno people. I’m fluent in both “regular people” and “EDMnese” so in the interest of keeping the peace, I often translate between the two.

  12. sosososo says:

Is this suppose to be funny? :c

  13. Eli says:

This is a piece of misogynistic crap.

    • Juniper says:

But women who enjoy sex or celebrate their sexuality are clearly whores and harlots! Only fully covered women who wait until marriage and only have sex for procreation have any value.

  14. Dave says:

To quote Admiral Ackbar, “It’s a trap”

  15. Billy Mays says:

u kno she has a dick rite??

  16. Kaylee says:

And yet. And YET. She’s an award winner. With an amazing voice. So suck it up and leave her the hell alone.

    • Dan-o says:

This statement alone represents the shoddy state music is in. She’s been nominated once for a Grammy, and lost.

And trust me, she is far from “an amazing voice”.

      • Kaylee says:

I’d like to think so, but I doubt you’ve heard her either perform live or any of her music that doesn’t have a loud beat in the background.

And hey Dan-O, never start a shoddy statement with “And trust me.”

    • CrisCrocker says:

      LEAVE LADY GAGA ALOOOOOONNNNNEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

      SHE’S A HUMAN BEING!!!!

      • don't be so sure... says:

Actually, her status as a human being is under review.

It’s about 99% possible that she’s nothing more than another robotic, mindless slave to today’s recording industry, who “performs” what she’s told to, when she’s told to.

    • Watwatwut says:

It’s a sad state of music when we’re satisfied with people that are able to sing relatively on key and not give any attention to actual talent.

    • Megan says:

I’ll admit she has a nice voice and catchy tunes. But I have yet to hear something really stellar from her music. She might have an amazing voice if she really put it on display in her songs, but all of her tunes seem confined to a couple of notes. So she’s got a long way to go before she can be considered anything more than a fad.

  17. Ivaylo says:

That is NOT! techno, it is shitty ass dance music. Please take the time to learn about the genres of electronic music because all you noobs relate it to talentless dance filth that is controlling mainstream media.

  18. Justin says:

Yeah she is NOT techno. I’d agree it’s like Pop electro but more on the pop side than electro.

Also I’m pretty sure she’s a post op tranny or something, her face is very mannish and I’ve heard many things about her being a trap.

  19. Unfunny says:

Who cares if Lady Gaga’s not 100% female or some kind of space alien? Not really anybody’s business.

The lyrics are supposed to be tongue-in-cheek; she’s portraying a character.

Her music is also not “techno.” It’s pop.

As for the crazy outfit, can’t the same be said about the legendary David Bowie? ;)

  20. Ruinitforyou says:

So we agree… the “graph” is wrong both on fact (techno?) and opinion (whore? cause she likes sex?)

If you aren’t being funny enough to move your message past your inaccuracies, then you have no business posting crap on a humor site.

  21. papajon0s1 says:

This ain’t brain surgery: hot blonde (I think) + big boobs + even a little musical talent + bat-shot insane outfits + need for people to notice me = one pop star after another.

  22. Manny says:

“Genres are sort of life-and-death issues”….To the person who said this, you need to chill out and back away from the computer. Life and death? The genre of music on a graph jam site??

    • Watwatwut says:

You obviously never saw a fist fight between the a Capella group and the choir.

Or between the first and second violins.

Or between a jazz musician and a classical musician.

Or between a guitarist and a pianist.

      Or…

  23. Oozed says:

So Techno music + Lyrics about being a whore = Stage performance – Crazy outfit? That means…

  24. Sinistrad says:

Cearly, we have someone here who A, knows nothing about Lady GaGa, and B, knows nothing about “techno” music. Being that they have demonstrated ignorance of both, their graph is moot. I don’t see what all the fuss is about.

    • Sinistrad says:

I should have put a sarcastic emphasis on “graph” as well, seeing as it was not a graph at all. We can add graph-making to the list of things to which they are ignorant.

      • LarsVonPowerstone says:

Agreed. Too bad there isn’t a DictionaryJam.

      • Mike says:

Yes, yes I know it is a “Graph Jam” but it clearly states that it is a “formula” not a “graph”. You see that little thing on the top of the picture? It says “formula”.

  25. Ironical says:

Different Musical Tastes + Exaggerated Observation = “Idea”

“Idea” + Internet Connection = Your Graph

  26. LC says:

As long as it offends fanboys (may there be of Gaga or “techno” or whores) its funny.

  27. Ignatz says:

Celebrity Death Match: Peaches vs. Lady Gaga!

  28. Lunostophiles says:

Yanno, everyone’s allowed their opinion, and if you don’t like Lady Gaga, that’s fine.

But, seriously? I could point out a bajillion songs that would not be considered “whorish ‘techno’ music” that are so blatantly sexual that you’d swallow your words.

And these songs? All before 1980. Including stuff from 1920s-40s musical theatre.

Also, crazy outfits? I know a few other people who’ve worn crazy outfits–David Bowie and Freddy Mercury come to mind. This is not to say she’s in the same league as them musically, but crazy outfits don’t equal a bad person. In fact, I’d much rather see a lot more crazy and a lot less t-shirt, jeans, and acoustic guitar adult contemporary bullshit.

Singing about sex, by the way, is a part of music. And if you’d take the time to look at lyrics, not all of her songs are just “OMFG SEX”. Not saying a good number of them aren’t, but the idea that singing about sex is suddenly a horrible thing is this pervasive idea in society that is just stupid. Absolutely stupid. Not -every- song has to be something powerful and thought-provoking. To quote George Carlin, “Anyone who sees life as anything more than pure entertainment is missing the point.”

  29. KC says:

    This is so true

  30. meh says:

can someone tell me what the hell you see in her music?
