OK, this is a JOKE!!!!!!!!!! we all know that guitar hero isnt an instrument! the creator of this chart made it look funny! its kinda true though… kids barely play instruments these days,and they play guitar hero. yes, its a cool game but the chart is true.

I agree totally, piano is far more popular than flute or sax, and more popular than drums. I would argue it’s only a tad behind guitar.

I’m learning the violin at the moment, so I can totally agree with that.
My 10-year old plays the violin. He hate practicing, though, so we’re lucky that he seems to pick it up by osmosis.

The objective is for you to get the joke, so if you get the joke it’s really not worded that badly.
I strongly disagree. Typos, grammatical errors, and jokes “worded that badly” detract from the humor, even if one still “gets” the joke.

I personally know several adults who play the recorder well and regularly. Of course, they’re usually playing four-hundred-year-old songs…
Hey! I play the recorder. The first thing I ever learned to play on it was “Au Claire de la Lune”. Okay, but the thing I play MOST on it is the theme from The Muppet Show. That’s not four hundred years old
I played the recorder in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. The first song I learned how to play was hot cross buns. Don’t tell me you didn’t learn to play that first? B A G B A G lol
Actually, I have some peers who went to a different elementary and middle school than me, and they never learned the recorder. They didn’t even know what it was until I was complaining about it.
You also tend to forget that ALOT of kids also want to play the trumpet. That was a very popular instrument when kids sign up for band.
Guitar hero doesn’t count as an instrument… it doesn’t make its own sound.

40% of kids play the guitar? And 25% play drums? Really? I think that’s closer to 10% and 5% (or lower). Unless you count “picked up a guitar and poked at it once” to be “playing.” And recorder should definitely be up around 90-100%.
I dunno, AFAIK in schools now the recorder is being somewhat phased out. Most of my classmates never played one, instead schools seem to be favoring starting them out on singing, then shoving them over into band or orchestra. Literally half the people I know play the piano or the violin. Trumpet, sax, and clarinet are popular too.

uhhhh I play flute, and guitar, and drums. And I love rockband, matter of fact playing it got me into the second two instruments.

Yeah it is funny, but admit it; playing your favorite rock song on Guitar Hero/Rockband makes you feel really, really cool. Even if you are simply hitting colored buttons on a plastic controller.

haha i love it! Not one person has mentioned Oboe! That’s what I play (I bet 3/4 of you don’t know what that is). And no one mentioned the clarinet; I play that too. Oh, and just so yall know, I started oboe in 6th grade, clarinet that summer, and am now in seventh grade

There are about 3 times as many flutes in the band as saxes.

I played flute, piccolo, violin, piano, bass drum, and xylophone from 5th through 12th grade. And this graph is all sorts of flipped around. More ppl play flute than sax and drums. Any decently balanced band/orchestra includes about 3 percussionists, 8 flutes, and 4 to 6 sax’s. Very few people actually play the guitar unless they are counting that stupid game. That’s like people saying they can dance because they kick butt at DDR. Sorry, not the same thing.
Personally i think the trumpet is close to the drums.

I play bass guitar and I’m a kid (14) I’ve always wanted to play a rock instrument and i got into rock and metal like Metallica, Guns N roses, AC/DC and Iron maiden without guitar hero (i found some bands on it). LOL it’s really ironic there’s a flute advertisement at the bottom of the page XD
