Just what I was going to say, works for kids and kid toys, too. A box they can sit in, a magic marker, and voila, the 50-cent box that $60 toy came in is magic – and lasts longer than the toy, as well.
But, to be fair, the toy is going to be there forever, but the wrapping will only be there for a day. So obviously you play with the wrapping first, before it disappears.
But it’s a known fact that carton boxes were primarily made for feline amusement, and not for packaging.
The red part should be named cheezburgers.

We used to give our cats christmas presents, but since they had a lot more fun with the giftwrap, we just let them play with that. ^^
We had a cat who used to sleep in the giftwrap from some of the bigger presents we had as kids. We’d open the present really carefully at just one end and slide the present out, then Lucy would get in there, taking a few bits of stolen tinsel & ornaments with her and not come out till nom time.
Totally precious!
The toy will ALWAYS be there but the wrapper gets extra points for being inconvenient, messy and… temporary!
We had a cat who knew Santa Claus personally.
My cat Benny loves boxes and bags. Every time I receive a package, he’s right there ready to jump into the box!
My kitty loves the twisty ties from bread bags as opposed to ANY toy that I spent money on. Those are looked at with distain and promptly ingnored forever.
my cat goes apesh!t for the top wrapper of those 5 hour energy drinks….
what he thinks: “zomg CRINKLY THINGIE!!!” and bats it around till it gets stuck under the fridge. then he looks at me like i should get it out for him….which ill do. but only 5 or 6 times, thats it.
