ohh dude where’s the “Friends” category ? xD
The tv show or the gossiping that goes on at slumber partys?
It was either National Geographic Channel or my parents which taught me about sex. Neither appear in this graph.
-___-
take another look.
I think he meant “walking in on”
I can do ya one better than National Geographic… we were on vacation and saw some wild horses doing it.
This goes in there, and makes a baby. o0
And this is why teenagers’ sex lives suck.
PR0NSEX = UR DOIN IT WRONG.
Depends on the kind of porn you’re watching I’d say. Of course, if you try to have sex the way you see it in your run-of-the-mill mainstream porn, you will definitely be disappointed if not bored. However, there is also nicer stuff out there, just gotta look for it. Unfortunately, this is probably not the kind of porn that teens stumble upon the first time they google the word.
Forget teenagers, a lot of *adults* don’t realise that pr0n isn’t the way to go about it.
you forgot Urban Dictionary
My parents gave me an educational book with simple illustrations… :-/ lol
that must have been awkward…
Teen boys, that is. Unfortunately it’s true. And the kids don’t know what hit them when they see what real sex is like.
exactly right. Not only that, but porn teaches them stupid concepts about sex, none of which are real or accurate. Plus, it boosts the probability of a teenager having sex and someone getting pregnant at a time that they really don’t want to.
I think the real problem is that parents are afraid to teach their kids about sex, and it’s really awkward because they don’t want to talk about it. What kept me from doing it before I got married was the fact that my parents were open with me about it, and I was open with my then-fiancee about it, so we were ready, but not jump-the-gun hyped about it.
Eh, I’m female and I learned QUITE a bit from certain literature that was left around my house… wasn’t ever meant to be seen by my eyes, but it was in plain view, and me being a 13-14 year old, I was curious.
I guess this would be true for about 90% of teens, but I never liked porn. Still don’t. I think I’m one of the few who learned about it through Health Class and…
Why isn’t “experience” on this graph?
amen to that. experience is the main way to learn. I used to watch alot of porn, and thought i new all about it. finally got laid, realized i knew nothing. but now of course, well lets just say i’m no amature.
lol
teens? i learned when I was about 4….
from my parents, actually.
oh and also: trust me. it’s not true for 90% of teens. maybe 40% would be more accurate.
I learned from emoticons. :O—<====8

Yes it looks like crap
WIN!!!!1
TRUE!
Don’t forget “classmates talking about the porn they’ve seen.”
It’s interesting – you could replace the title with “Why Teens are Fcuked Up,” and the graph would be just as good.
is this really supposed to be funny…. its pathetic and sad that our generation is like this
it is funny, you just have no sense of humor
There needs to be a tiny little sliver in there that says “Medical textbooks”… ’cause that’s how I learned about it. I was ten and my mom had some anatomy/physiology textbooks from her college years. My reaction: “Huh. So that’s how it works. Cool.” After which I proceeded to become fascinated with fetal development and am now a biomedical engineering major in college…
I’m in blue slice, but I’m surprised “the internet” isn’t on there. I’m sure there are people who’ve looked it up on Wikipedia or something.
*the blue slice
I think Dan Savage needs to be required reading/listening.
I also learned it from a friend, but he had learned it from his cousin, so I guess that’s learning from family in a roundabout way.
Oh, and I was 10, so yeah, teenage sex? That’s for slowpokes.
Practice
There’s a difference between orange and red?

I’m “old” and was taught in school (4th and 5th grade) when boys still had “cooties”. Sex? EEEEEWWWWWW!!!!!! By the time I reached high school we were still whispering about the possibility that a girl *might* be pregnant and pointing behind our hands so she couldn’t see. Nobody wanted to ruin their lives like that back then. I still remember there being films and overhead projections explaining the basics of reproduction. Now they say it encourages children to experiment? NO WAY! After looking at that, the last think I wanted to do was see it in person!
When I had kids, we lived on a farm where I was breeding and showing dogs and horses, so they learned through everyday living and business. When they went to school, We had to sign a release when they were in 5th grade for a 1 day health seminar which covered puberty. Very sad.
I agree.
Unfortunately I am not accounted for in this graph -__-”. Kinda sucks when you’re a teenager with overprotective parents. I wish they would just throw me a book, you know? Instead everything involving sex is forbidden, and whenever we watch movies I have to cover my head about sixty times. I already “know” how it all goes about, but I don’t really “understand” anything about it, though I wish I did. But I still think that it’s actually [[dare I say]] a beautiful thing. Yeah, I know, I’m weird, I’ll deal.
porn is stupid. sex ed is stupid. parents should take responsibility for their children for a change (i know, i’m asking too much), and teach them what they need to know. my parents threw me the book and i was just fine. if i had any questions i knew i could ask. the sex ed classes i had were a fricking joke and completely unnecessary. didn’t have sex until i was 18 and i am grateful. kids don’t need that stupid complicated crap to crap up their lives. be nice if people could act like sentient human beings for a change and not a bunch of brainless rats in a science experiment.
How about spending 5 minutes in high school? Shouldn’t that be #1?
Actually, i learned QUITE A BIT just by going to high school. :3
I’ve known about sex since I was five. What’s the friggin’ deal? I wish red would be waaaay smaller, nobody deserves to “learn” so falsely. If I ever decide I’m going to stop being so asexual and have children, you bet they’re going to get a straight answer when they’re asked where babies come from.
Kay honestly? If you’re a sexually-energized teen boy at home trying to do work or something, but can’t concentrate on anything but sex, wtf are you going to do?
“Oh oh, I’ll just try to ignore it and hope it goes away, I do not believe in porn or any other sexual images unless it is the real thing D<"
wait.
I just read all the comments, and then went back up to the graph, and the comments lead to a different topic. :S
I agree i think that most kids learn it from porn.
i would say i learned (unfortunately) from soap operas (to which my mother was addicted, so i couldn’t help but to watch), but that counts as porn, doesn’t it…
Wow. Okay, so when i was like 7, my cousin somehow brought sex up. She was a year younger than me. I remember exactly what she said, “A guy has this thing that sticks out, like opposite what girls have. He gets on top of the girl, and they have sex.” xD We were so intrigued. She told “stories” about people doing it places, and when she said there were people that did it in a pool, i thought she meant lying down. I was so damn confused! To this day, I have no idea where she got these stories… But actually learning? The compiter and peers. They said something that I needed to look up-I was “behind” in middle school. This research did morph into pictures and porn. I’m a girl, and I don’t go for “fake”… xtube for me! =D Now I’m a legal adult, have an amazing boyfriend, and have had experience…
Sadly, the graph is true, and kids are going to just expect something different from what they’ve learned. I was responsible for my own learning, and did pretty well on my own, but parents NEED to start talking with their kids!
