  1. Lam says:

This just proves my point about our media.

  2. cdm331 says:

This is the adverse of the actual threat.

  3. Opallise says:

Someone should send this to congress.

  4. Plastic says:

I would say poor parenting is the biggest issue. So many people have kids now-a-days that are not ready for it financially or mentally. The media has no idea what they are talking about.

    • StaticMan says:

I think this is satire..making fun of the fact that the Media blames everything on video games, and not bad parenting. We’d rather blame an object rather than the real cause. Just saying….

  5. Crystal Kyuuketsuki says:

My video game playing has NO affect at all on my offline life lol Neither does the Internet

MY mom certainly wasn’t ready for kids, but thank goodness I realized it before it was too late. Otherwise I might have turned out horrible -_-

  6. Nick R. Bocker says:

Subliminal message in this graph…. the media are gay

  7. Marion the ... says:

You forgot “OMG GAY MARRIAGE WHICH WILL CORRUPT OUR CHILDREN AND TURN THEM ALL GAY !!1!”

    • Wat? says:

judging by the color scheme it was not forgotten but is subliminal. if it was out there in front it would make the children think about gays and then that would make them gay. we have to be very careful.

    • StCyr says:

Yeah, totally forgot to mention the gays. I was really expecting to too.

  8. KZN02 says:

And no mention of Jack Thompson, if that’s his name?

  9. thecat3_hh says:

do you think that instead stereotyping popular video games you take a look that kids live in a world screwed up by the older generation

    • Khaaaaaaan says:

Jebus H Kristo… did something happen overnight to suck the humor/satire/sarcasm out of today’s posters? FFS, I wanted the Packers to beat the drama queen as much as anyone, but come on…

  10. tatsu says:

they are just looking for a scape goat. if they blame parents the fat guy on couch will take another sip from his bear, and say “how dare them peoples tells me how to raise my youngings, im never watching this again. honey wheres Jed, ive not seen him for two days.” they are to worried that they would lose ratings plus they can make a storm of controversy faster so even more stuff to film and then show the ignorant masses.

    • Squid says:

you speak in truthitudes! Keep em’ scared & stupid, that is how we will keep our audience. I’m remnded of the scene in “Scrooged” when Bill Murray is showing the trailer for the x-mas special he is promoting “The Day The Reindeer Died” and the commercial basically shows all the horrible things that could happen if you go outside instead of inside where it’s safe with your T.V.

    • The_Great_G says:

Can I take a sip of some bear?

  11. Chris says:

The real issue is, that children cant tell there parents about bullying. Bullying is like, torture practice

  12. geor says:

I suppose it’s just a fundamental misunderstanding about cause and effect. It’s not 1 action yields 1 result, it’s the sum of all actions yield 1 result.

  13. Duncan says:

Everything else on that graph should be a subheading under “Poor Parenting” because everything else can be PREVENTED by proper parenting.. but I’m (hopefully!) stating the obvious.

  14. jon says:

I would say that the most pressing issue IS poor parenting, because you’re the parent, why are you worrying about the games your kids play? Make sure they are games that you approve. You are the parent, you make the rules, not them. This country is made up of nothing but bad parents. If all parents were good, and I mean really good, then I would bet my life that crime would be almost nonexistent, gangs would be the same, and you wouldnt even have to worry about their self esteem because being a good parent, you make sure to tell them that they are super smart, a super good athlete, the nicest person ever, etc… It all boils down too good parenting or lack thereof

    • The_Great_G says:

“This country is made up of nothing but bad parents”? I’ve never seen a more ignorant statement on these comment boards.

    • Morne says:

Spoken like a true non-parent. And in fact, someone who has never dealt with kids before. Or even tried to lead a bunch of adults.

    • SuicidalKanoka says:

Telling anyone constantly that they are great is a terrible idea. It makes them self-centered and think they’re better than they actually are. Reinforce good behavior, not arbitrarily. Jeez, I don’t even have a kid and I know that.

  15. Captain Disappointed says:

Ummm, to judge from the spelling of “non-existent”, I’d say education was an enormous worry.

  16. Watwatwut says:

    I AM FROM THE INTERNETS!

I WILL EAT YOUR CHILDREN! LOCK THEM AWAY!

…But even I fear the immense, unforgiving jaws of the PACMAN!

  17. The Quag says:

Agreed, completely. The news media has turned into something reminiscent of Fahrenheit 451: appease the masses while telling them how to think exactly what you want them to think (by using “experts”). It’s the video game’s fault that a parent can’t read the label and see the large ESRB rating box printed in black and white on the front and back of every game. It’s the internet’s fault that parents aren’t monitoring the sites their children visit and haven’t nurtured good values in a respectful way so that their children won’t *want* to go look up porn. Of course, it’s not the parent’s fault… certainly not…

Yes, agreed 100% with the sentiment of this graph (at least the printed one, anyway – the subliminal one… that’s another topic entirely).

    ~Quag

  18. Black Ice says:

This does seem to be true. :(

I did see a commercial a week ago about a program to help girls with poor self-image though. :3 Now let’s see one for poor parenting (and none of that ‘gays shouldn’t raise kids’ nonsense).

  19. Points Giver says:

+6 points for the rainbow colors.

It’s so weird though, the submitter was all straightedge about capitalizing “Internet,” but can’t spell “existent.”

  20. Obliverate says:

This is BS. It isn’t video games’ fault. If you think that a game is bad, don’t let your kid play it. Otherwise, you’re a bad parent looking for a scapegoat

  21. Robby says:

Anyone who uses common sense knows that the biggest threats to America’s youth are as follows, 1 being the most threatening: 1.Poor Parenting 2. Street Gangs 3. low self esteem…

  22. Kay says:

when i saw the colors i thought they were going to make jokes about warning our youth about gays xD

  23. HackerOnHacker says:

My choice of the rainbow colors didn’t really have anything to do with the gays, but rather because I wanted the last color to be red and then have the others be, well, not red. I already used the red to yellow to white cycle on another graph, and besides, who doesn’t love rainbows?

As for misspelling “existent”, that was merely a slip-up on my part. Don’t pretend it doesn’t happen to you too. ;) Normally I’m a very good speller, (trust me), but I’m just too used to the FireFox spellcheck, which doesn’t work in the graph builder.

  24. ADMAN111 says:

Lock your children in your home because of the internet, yeah “That’ll work!”

  25. CandleJack says:

Forgot the pedophiles. Of course, there’s not so much in the news about them since Micheal Jackson died…

    • Watwatwut says:

I think that runs under the Internet.

      • CandleJack says:

According to the mainstream news, I suppose it does, but back in my day (like… err… ten years ago?) it was still creepy old men in trenchcoats (or sequined vests and white glove[s]?) with offerings of candy, NES games, or Pokemon cards, as the internet proper didn’t really exist yet.

I find it morbidly hilarious that parents worry incessantly about internet predators when, statistically, they should be more worried about their own brothers/sisters.

  26. Brett says:

Forgot about the biggest threat of all – the mainstream news!

  27. themaninred says:

ummmm someone needs to fix this graph it looks like it should be backwards with the inclusion of fox news

  28. Jerimiah says:

I read – based on colors – that the media thinks the gays are the biggest threat. Way too funny.

  29. yort s says:

wow more media scare tactics, this graft is backwards

  30. Metaland says:

Nice graph, but you missed heavy metal and other “violent” music genrers

  31. dfg says:

    You forgot TEH GAY

  32. Doomtrain says:

    You forgot Bears!

  33. sappho of lesbos says:

    you forgot pig death.

  34. Turk says:

    It’s actually the exact opposite…

  35. thegrimreaper says:

And we all love the rainbow. Is there a pot of gold at the end? :-D

  36. You forgot Chuck Norris.
