heh, i tend to do this to people who tailgate me. i fail.
Oh, I totally do the same thing. I think the tailgater fails.
I think it’s funny when people drag-race to get in front of you after a stop-light and then you end up right behind them at the next one.
How many nerds out there just see the Star Trek (TOS) badge in this graph?
Only you
You do not define reality. I saw it.
That’s exactly what that is! Awesome.
silly geeks…. its clearly an Anarchy symbol
I agree, the DOS version of the anarchy symbol.
*Raises hand* \\\///
I do, now that you mention it…
I give this graph an “A”.
This is the most truth I’ve ever seen in one graph.
why is that? that happened the whole time during a trip i recently took.
add in that they speed up if you try to move into their lane to get to the exit.
So true… This is why road rage happens.
Which is why I don’t own a gun.
and its why I do, so I can shoot the sorry bastard when he comes to my window at a red light holding a tire iron.
TRUNKMONKEY.
LOL, best security device ever conceived
LOL!!!!!
So far no one’s approached my vehicle while I’m at a red light, not even the beggars holding out signs asking for spare change.
I live in western Montana where there are generally very few cars on the highway at any given time (compared with the east coast anyways – I’m originally from Philadelphia) and yet somehow this graph happens to me nearly every day.
And contrary to popular belief, you WILL get pulled over for speeding in Montana if you go 95mph trying to get in front of some jackass who decided your speed looks better than what they have been doing for several miles.
The downside of cruise control is that it makes you ever so aware of how inconsistent so many other drivers’ speeds are.
oh you are SO RIGHT! I commute 1.5 hours to college twice a week… set my cruise as soon as I get out of the city… and watch MORONS live out this graph all around me! Drives me NUTS!
The thing with cruise control is that it keeps the car at a constant speed. This is different than keeping the accelerator pushed in to a constant place. The same pressure on the accelerator going up results in a much slower speed than when going down. I think this accounts for most of the perceived inconsistency with other drivers… not all, but most–some are just morons.
Not putting your foot down for a hill is inconsistency.
This sounds like my husband. I hear this from him all the time.
I remember carpooling with one guy who was the red line in this chart… and yet he consistently complained about the “accordion drivers” out there assuming that it was them slowing down and speeding up all the time…
I’m so glad I never see this guy anymore.
I don’t understand why some can’t grasp the concept of cruise control.
Not all modern cars come equipped with this feature. It’s not really even all that common, seeing as most base models won’t have it.
Weird… Every car I have owned has speed control, and I normally wouldn’t realize it until a year after getting it.
I owned a 1998 Ford Contour and just upgraded to a 2008 Kia Spectra…my ford contour had speed control in 1998 and its been quite a few years since then so I just kind of figured all cars had cruise control by now….so I never even bothered to look for it when buying my Kia…it wasn’t until about 10 minutes after I pulled off the lot in my car that I noticed there was no cruise control…lost a big part of my driving life that day
I drive an older 18 wheeler without cruise and I have no problem holding a constant speed, people need to get their heads out of their asses and drive, cell phones should be hands free only in a car failure to comply should result in loss of license, and texting while driving should get you a jail sentence.
So the speed limit line would be down around 45?
Really?!? Every car I’ve owned or driven has had it…
Why are you driving at 75 miles per hour? Where is the speed limit that high? (Other than Texas, where I think it’s 80 on some roads.) In Ohio, where I live, maximum speed is 65. Then again, Ohio does kind of suck.
Nah, the speed LIMIT is sixty five, but if you only go that speed you get rear-ended, at least in Jersey. I think in other places you might just get uuber tailgated.
There are (or were last time I drove them) several parts of I-90 that are 75mph… in WA, ID and MT.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_limits_in_the_United_States
There are MANY states with a maximum speed limit of 75.
The speed limit of I-94 in Minnesota is 70, and everybody knows there’s about a 5 mph margin of error that police usually allow.
If you are about to change lanes and you are safely ahead of someone
to do so, they will speed up right when you start to change lanes.
Try driving in NZ, they speed up WHILE your overtaking them and sometimes try to ram you off the road. And then the cop gives me a ticket for speeding while overtaking >:[
One word: Tennessee.
At least the other driver waits until you’ve passed him to decide to speed up- when I was learning and tried to overtake on a 2-lane road they’d speed up to the limit and force me to give up and go back behind them- only to slow back down again the second I did so. No wonder people tailgate!
The speed limit in SC is 70 on the interstates.
Since nobody should be driving at 75mph to begin with, I don’t see why the poster has any legitimate complaint.
Ever seen Duel?
