      Yes, well, that is the purpose of them. I don’t really use emoticons much, but I don’t use nonverbal communication much either. Perhaps it’s related.

      Apparently “teenage” now applies to everyone between the ages of nine and twenty-five. I don’t get it; when I was growing up back in the stone age, it was thirteen to nineteen (though secretly we knew that ten to twelve were included). Check out the (real) news now and again, you’ll see headlines about “teens [doing whatever]” and the story itself will go on to say “scientists have discovered that people twenty-five and younger are [doing whatever]“. It’s weird.
