This is a common phenomenon with female players. They take the avatar characters seriously and invest in them. Male players tend to grab the default and get straight into the action.

Not saying it’s true of all women or all men — but that’s the way to bet.

The time spent making characters should not be considered time you are spending with someone playing the game.

Tell your sister/mother/significant other to start working on their character and you can go start dinner or something.

My boyfriend can spend 3 hours making characters. Seriously.

It pisses me off to the point that I don’t even want to play the game anymore by the time he’s done.

To be honest, I find games a lot more fun if I can create characters. I usually spend a long time creating characters just because it helps me get that much more ‘into’ the game. So, even though it doesn’t make a difference in the game, the level of fun I have goes up. Customizations are some of my fav aspects to any game.

I never understood why they added other bands on a “Band Specific” game, sure for GH Metallica said band actually picked the songs themselves, but that’s like coming out with a greatest hits album and adding other songs that your band likes…WTF?!?! But I will say this, GH Metallica is the best GH since Harmonix split from Red Octane. GH:WT sucked hard.

A few weekends ago it was my 30th HS reunion (!). The next day I went over to a classmate’s house (whom I had not seen in said 30 years) for a BBQ. He fired up Rock Band, and he, his wife, his 15 yo daughter, and I played. It was my first experience with the game. It was actually pretty fun, but unfortunately I found that my best instrument is my voice. (Actually, that’s pretty accurate.)

The daughter did take some time making up my character, though.

The pedant in me had to point out that the address of El Ocho is actually in Westwood, not Santa Monica.

I spent hours making characters on Oblivion, giving them concave noses, and laughing myself sick. Then about 5 minutes actually playing the game.

It has nothing to do with difficulty (I hate how Guitar Hero just wants songs that sound hard and not good) just the fact that it is the Beatles, have you listened to their harmonies, screw Gutiar Hero and their “4 people can sing the exact same thing” also, im planning on trying to play guitar and sing harmony.
