A few weekends ago it was my 30th HS reunion (!). The next day I went over to a classmate’s house (whom I had not seen in said 30 years) for a BBQ. He fired up Rock Band, and he, his wife, his 15 yo daughter, and I played. It was my first experience with the game. It was actually pretty fun, but unfortunately I found that my best instrument is my voice.
(Actually, that’s pretty accurate.)
The daughter did take some time making up my character, though.
The pedant in me had to point out that the address of El Ocho is actually in Westwood, not Santa Monica.

Beatles rock band would be the most boring game in existence. Have you actually listened to the Beatles? No disrespect to them, but their music isn’t really all that difficult to play.
It has nothing to do with difficulty (I hate how Guitar Hero just wants songs that sound hard and not good) just the fact that it is the Beatles, have you listened to their harmonies, screw Gutiar Hero and their “4 people can sing the exact same thing” also, im planning on trying to play guitar and sing harmony.
Uhhh. Right…. Guitar hero has the better tracks IMO.

No I believe you should kill yourself for suggesting something stupid. I own both Rock Band and Guitar Hero. GH wins.
I never understood why they added other bands on a “Band Specific” game, sure for GH Metallica said band actually picked the songs themselves, but that’s like coming out with a greatest hits album and adding other songs that your band likes…WTF?!?! But I will say this, GH Metallica is the best GH since Harmonix split from Red Octane. GH:WT sucked hard.
This is completely true for any game that requires you to make a detailed character. I hate doing that.
Oblivion too, but with more possible INSANITY.
I spent hours making characters on Oblivion, giving them concave noses, and laughing myself sick. Then about 5 minutes actually playing the game.
Call me immature, but at least I have fun.
I usually play The Sims 2 that way. Even the neighbourhood I’ve been playing for several months needed some houses built.
“Drawn to Life.” That game sucked away more of my life in the DS-stylus-drawing of random level items than actualy playing X_X
I’m that sister as well! But I usually spend copious amounts of time making a character when whoever I’m with is off doing something else so that I don’t bore them to death.
replace “my sister” with any girl who has ever played this game EVER. oh well, whatever gets them to play games with us I am OK with.
I like to go and take a good rip on the bong before I watch the kids play this game. And when the girls play it’s like a extended game of electronic dress up…I usually need to excuse myself for a couple of more bong hits since the 1st one wears off…

You don’t design characters in the PS2 version of rockband, so annoying sisters cant bore the crap out of you! = D
Oh my gosh…my friends complain about how long I take building one…but now that I have purple pigtails and every piece of clothing/shoes/accessories available my character ALWAYS look good in concert. Just sayin….lolz

I hate how the females on the game look like basically whores. The breasts are abormally large, as well as their butts, and they are almost anorexic for everything else.
You know there’s different weights, right? Or are you talking about the in-game characters?

nah.. my sister doesn’t waste too much time on a character. She is too busy kicking my ass at the game. She can do freaking expert mode! …I’m limited to easy and medium.

To be honest, I find games a lot more fun if I can create characters. I usually spend a long time creating characters just because it helps me get that much more ‘into’ the game. So, even though it doesn’t make a difference in the game, the level of fun I have goes up. Customizations are some of my fav aspects to any game.
And we care about this why?
It’s not only girls that do it…
My boyfriend can spend 3 hours making characters. Seriously.
It pisses me off to the point that I don’t even want to play the game anymore by the time he’s done.

The time spent making characters should not be considered time you are spending with someone playing the game.
Tell your sister/mother/significant other to start working on their character and you can go start dinner or something.
