  1. Glen says:

    Giggity

  2. Edward says:

You seem to be suggesting that the plot of the episode is unrelated to the episode. That makes not a lick of sense.

    • smartz says:

On the contrary, the diagram does include the plot is part of the essence of Family Guy, but has nothing to do with the content it is known for, although that can be subverted, as there are episodes where sex was a relevent plot points. Like that one time Peter sold himself to science, and given a gay gene…and the sexual hilarity ensued.

      • dhydar says:

Yeah… give Hillary props for being such a good sport

      • Mr Cheeze says:

What I don’t understand, is how it makes no reference to the content of the episode, the crossing sections have no content, and in general, the graph has no meaning.

    • KinokoSama says:

This graph fails because Episodes of Family Guy HAVE no plot.

      • parksj1 says:

Every episode (that I have watched…which is most most them) has a plot. Something happens throw of the status quo, funny stuff happens, and the family returns to the status quo at the end. It’s the plot style of pretty much every sitcom, especially mainstream cartoon ones.

      • Cowlifornia says:

I just watched an episode where Perter actually says he lov… er, nevermind i didn’t say anything about meg!

      • Mr Cheeze says:

That is actually what it’s trying to say, and thus, it fails for being so crap that you got a completely opposite meaning from it.

      • i'mnotactuallygoingtowritemename -__- says:

        exactly

  3. lsithgleigslvb says:

um, duh. Quit making such obvious charts/graphs. “the chances of me hitting a red light when i’m rushing to the hospital….oh, what’s that, the graph says “everytime” oh, hahaha, how clever. Bah, you aren’t clever! This isn’t even remotely funny. Graph Jam has become a pit of stupid, obvious, and excruciatingly predictable “jokes”. They don’t even “swear” that much, either. It’s a once in a while thing, not even every episode…..frack, I hate you graph jam, and the people who submit their utter crap to you.

  4. feistycat says:

    Family Guy rules!

  5. SpaceOddity says:

    You forgot “racism.”

    • lolMiel says:

      mockery of racism*

      • SpaceOddity says:

        If only it *were* mockery…

        • lolMiel says:

It is. What makes you say it isn’t?

          • SpaceOddity says:

Simply repeating racist tropes and then laughing about them does not really constitute mockery (which I would argue can be a fairly sophisticated form of comedy), it’s simply lazy. Perhaps more importantly, I would argue that it takes exceptional comedic sense to make racism even the least bit funny (it having no inherent comedic value), and the writers of Family Guy seem to lack this particular sense (in general, though I will certainly concede that there are a very few moments where the writers are able to to tap into American racism for some real comedic gold. These moments are, however, few and far between, and have recently been outweighed by those where the attempt at humor fails rather spectacularly).

For an example of where the attempt at humor fails…an episode that consists in large part of many of the characters essentially in blackface is no less problematic because the characters are animated – and the fact that it continually passes for comedy is, I think, indicative of the continued problems of racism in American society.

            • Devylan says:

Thank you so much for this statement! This is one of the many reasons why as soon as I hear, “It seems today…” I flip the channel!

    • TheObject says:

      Sexism is significantly more rampant.

      • SpaceOddity says:

Possibly, although that doesn’t reduce the significance of the racist elements that exist within the show.

      • poodle_face says:

I really would have picked a different word than rampant, since my mind just thought “Oh – rampant sexism. Bet the ladies enjoy that :)

  6. seom says:

yes but the parts that are COMPLETELY unrelated to the plot line (especially the idiotic flashbacks) are what make family guy AMAZING!

    • Maiden! says:

      agreed!

i find that people who dont like Family Guy are huge piece of worthless crap douchebags (:

      • Sunshiner says:

I hate Family Guy. It’s all crude humor. Yeah, it’s got funny parts sometimes, but not enough for me to watch it.
It’s not that I’m a prude, because I love the Simpsons with all my heart, and Lord knows there are some crude jokes peppered in with the irony and satire and sarcasm. But really, it does get pretty old.
Being a douche-bag would be saying “i [sic] find that people who…[actually] like Family Guy are huge piece [sic] of worthless crap douchebags [sic] (:
Most of my friends and family watch it, so I wouldn’t say that. Have a nice day. :)

      • Dass says:

And you just described what I consider FG viewers to be. After having seen three episodes (all against my will), I laughed exactly 0 times. What the hell do people see in this show?

      • Zoe says:

        Aw, you’re so sophisticated. Lucky!

    • poodle_face says:

I liked it more when there were less of them. After the first one or two, they just start to bug me, and all I can think is “Wow – the writers have clearly given up, and now are just taking the piss”

  7. joey says:

yeah I agree with this graph, IMO Family Guy isn’t really funny if you take out the cheap shock value jokes that are (mostly) unrelated to the plot. I will admit the show makes me laugh, but it’s not nearly as good as The Simpsons or other shows that actually put creativity into their jokes

  8. Alpha Q says:

You forgot a bubble with “ripped off of The Simpsons”

  9. Eric says:

Everywhere I go, “Hey Cartman, you must like Family Guy, right?” “Hey, your sense of humor reminds me of Family Guy, Cartman.” I am NOTHING like Family Guy! When I make jokes, they are inherent to a story! Deep, situational and emotional jokes based on what is relevant and has a POINT! Not just one interchangeable joke after another!

  10. spqr says:

They don’t even call them “Flashbacks” in Family Guy. They call them “clips,” although I think a more apt descriptor might be “Tangent clips.”

  11. eat it. says:

Why was a venn diagram used? Doesn’t make that much sense this way.

  12. Eric says:

notice that comedy is nowhere to be found.

  13. jamie says:

Really people? I love Family Guy because they spit right in the face of televison ethics. The FFC song? A protest against censorship. If you are SO superior you need a intricately detailed story line and the filth they put on Family Guy is too much, switch over to South Park where they keep it classy (note the sarcasm). STFU and pull the stick out of your ass.

  14. John says:

    Misuse of a Venn Diagram.

    Pie chart makes more sense.

  15. bluenowait says:

    Forgot to include:
-Unfunny gags that take waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy too long.
-Unfunny (intentionally) Musical numbers that take waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy too long.
-Brian being being a preachy asshole!

  16. Luna says:

Should have a great big circle around the whole thing titled “Garbage”.

I hate family guy. What a bunch of trashy, toilet humor.

  17. poopoo says:

on the episodes shown on tv, there’s relatively little swearing

  18. Jade says:

Should have been a bar or pie graph. Logistics fail!

  19. TurboIce says:

Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty.

  20. Ralph&Pearl says:

The graph is a Venn Diagram so it can show how the other 3 subjects never have anything to do with the episode’s plot.

  21. Marekatt says:

You missed out on a great chance for a joke in the middle there… it could have been like “Bill Clinton” or something.

  22. what is this i dont even says:

    completely accurate- there’s no humor

  23. chemical109 says:

this is why it’s so great.

    nyyeheheheheheheheheheheh

  24. Claire says:

    Family guy has a plot?

  25. Me says:

This show is worse than nothing. Racism is too much a part of it. Tell me how the part where the gay baby and the dog go to Gettysburg is funny at all. Just terrible.

  26. Sx says:

    yeah and ur point?

  27. Zoe says:

True. Yet I still love it.

  28. I watch that show says:

That’s the same as [SCRUBS] but family guy once made hitler on a unicycle somehow tie into the plot… kinda… never mind it’s just silly

  29. roberto says:

I dont recall all that much swearing, seeing as it’s on public television…but I suppose my California version of cursing might be slightly different from the mid-american version LOL

  30. daytripped says:

wow, i find this graph ironic. whoever made this clearly does not understand ven diagrams.

And the swearing, flashbacks (which are actually called “cutaway gags”), and sex refs are like the best. so suck that.

although i admit family guy wont stop copying the simpsons.

  31. Jake says:

    i love the chicken fights!

  32. candi_corner says:

yo… I luv that show, but seriously that is true en soo many different ways. lol

  33. i'mnotactuallygoingtowritemename -__- says:

at least they’re FUNNY sex refs, flashbacks, and swearing….besides, how many episodes have you actually sat down to watch?

  34. Scuba12 says:

    god yes

  35. J says:

    u forgot to include humor

  36. Dave Keys says:

family guy is the best thing to come out of the US in a long time, by far the best tv show!

i understand why some people can get offended by it but, they just need to lighten up!

  37. Lishall says:

Lol, it’s funny you super Family Guy fans are getting mad because he pointed out the obvious, which is true, they do a crap ton of flashback/reference scenes. Not everyone has to think this show is a shyt

  38. roygbiv says:

um… yeah… it’s not really that funny. but i stopped watching it after “prom dumpster baby.” that was messed up.
i’ve laughed more watching king of the hill than that piece of plagiarized crap.
