Difficulty of Task as Perceived by the Average Person

sad but true
I HATE people who don’t use thier turn signals!!!!
When I am Kng of the World, the punishment for such a crime will be public flogging!!!
No… public tasering.
tazer them in the nuts! (or the face for chicks)
can we also do that to people that drive hummers or text while driving or park across 15 slots in their big-ass metal death trap that they call a car?
P.S. dual tazers to people who smoke with children in the car
While this may not be “haha” funny, it’s poignantly true :/
I think it’s “haha” funny, as well as true.
Me three!
I agree, but I think I’m actually number three.
You would be surprised at how many people can screw up cooking te simplest of meals… I do agree on the turn signals though.
and screw up typing te simplest of words.
And screw up capitalizing te simplest of words.
Well, as long as we’re trying to out-grammar each other, the word “and” shouldn’t have been capitalized but it should have been preceded by an ellipsis.
well maybe it’s true in America… only.
I live outside of the US and I assure you, it is true elsewhere.
And Spain…and Italy…and Ireland…and Egypt…and Morocco…and Mexico…and Cuba…and England…
Yes, becaue we all know that irresponsible idiots are born and bred only in America, and that’s why people from other countries are DYING to get here.
..or maybe you’re a gigantic douche.
Where do you live that everyone drives perfectly and is respectful of each other? I want to start planning my move.
Nope, people here in the UK are just as bad at using indicators/turn signals
Using color – inconceivable!
Last time I heard, that pale yellow of the background is referred to as a color.
Isn’t white also a color?
No, acutally white is not a color. It neutral because it has no pigment.
Color FAIL! White is the culmination of all colors, black is the absence of color. (And pigmentation only applies to paint.)
white = maximum saturation of red/green/blue, so white is all colors of light
black = maximum saturation of red/yellow/blue, so black is all colors of pigment
“fail is such a strong word…”
…aaaaand this is assuming that all visible spectra can be described in three dimensions. But only people who’ve taken advanced courses involving visual perception are likely to know otherwise.
Pedantic rant WIN!
“Pedantry” is the language of my people. We are called Pedaphiles. OMG STOP LAUGHING YOU RACIST.
It is when you secretly want to be racist! ^_^
Imagine the exact same graph, but erase the labels on the X axis.
(FMI: Is there a Godwin’s law of racism? How quickly can we break it? Let’s see some effort, people!)
Well what’s wrong with shades of grey? Were you unable to understand the graph?
Heh, you don’t live in Texas, do you GrinningColossus?
Unfortunately, no; I live in South Carolina, which I think may be worse.
Oh my. Good luck on the roads, then!
So, they must be from Kansas….
love the graph.
So true. I think I hate nothing more than those who don’t use turn singals, and those who drive while talking on cell phones.
This adds insult to injury. I haven’t been on in days due to an accident on I-5 because some idiot driving a Coke truck decided that the right lane is now NOT for semi trucks, and you must cross four lanes without signaling, on a curve, in heavy traffic. This is the second accident I’ve been in thanks to other people not using thier signals. the first was when some dip decided it’s totally cool to make a left turn at an intersection without signaling, making the person opposite you think you are both going straight. I was taught to think that your steering wheel cannot turn without the use of the magic signal. What the hell is wrong with people?
Wow, I’ll shut up now. I must be having a woman moment, talking on when no one wants to hear.
I watch the car and driver more so then the turn signal… They’re normally more accurate.
no. i completely agree. i’m teaching my children that if they can’t learn to use their turn signal, they will be immediately pulled over and arrested for idiocy.
one of several ingenious ploys to keep them alive till they’re 18.
The reason I made this graph was because I bike to work and so I’m always around cars, and I am frustrated almost every day by people who don’t use their turn signals. It’d be nice for me to know which way you’re going, dude, because if you hit me I’m going to lose that fight. I have a license and I drive every once in a while and I don’t find it all that challenging, but I guess people are just too cool for turn signals, so they’d rather get in wrecks.
Haha, you’ll be thrilled to know that I’m also a Destruction Derby Driver for the KDDA, and im forever getting flagged for grabbing for the turn signal wand, when there isnt one, and I’m TRYING to run into people! The irony…
Oh, that is funny.
Another thing idiot drivers are too cool for, is stepping on the brake before they even swirve into the next lane to avoid the car that had the audacity to appear before them in their lane of the highway, even though they’ve had their nose up the other cars rear like dogs in heat!
half the time theyre too busy talking on the phone. i hate md/va/dc drivers, i dont think they teach them to use signals. but that doesnt matter, because no matter where i live theres going to be a cubic ass ton of people that dont use signals and cant friggin drive. im just gonna buy a recently converted cop car with the ram guards in front and start knocking idiots off the road!
“cubic ass ton” ftw!
its treu, four coorrect speling & grammaar u has 2 be smart
It’s true in Belgium as well. When I saw this I just said: yes, so much yes.
This is my graph, I go through so much grammar/spelling fails on the Internet my head would explode, and sometimes I believe I’m the only person on the road who knows what speed limits and turn signals are.
I mean, this graph speaks to me.
This is dumb
yeah… I miss the funny.
I couldn’t agree more with this! My bf and I actually had a long discussion tonight about how native English (American) speakers have TERRIBLE grammar! Even GW Bush said, “IS our children learning?” WTF?! And the signaling thing, yeah, no one in NYC knows how to use their f*cking turn signals! I love it when they’re in front of me and they want to make a turn, but instead of signaling, they just stop bluntly in the middle of the road. Of course they’re going to get an earful of my horn, they could’ve caused a serious accident that’s entirely their fault!
It gets worse. Often they come to a complete stop in a traffic lane, and THEN turn on the turn signal.
Cars should be designed to explode if you do that.
I’ve been learning how to drive from my dad for about six months or so. The other day, I was angry at something and did just that in front of our house. My dad nearly reached over and smacked me in the resulting fury.
But that’s the only time I can think of, because I learned of the horror of improper turn signals when a small delivery truck very nearly ended my life on a highway entrance ramp that I was crossing. Lesson learned? Drivers suck, don’t trust them. Myself included.
As a proofreader, I give this my official stamp of approval. *stamps*
Once seen on a resume: “I am an excellent poofreader.”
So you drive around in Ohio I take it?
I hate it when people go straight through in left or right turn only lanes.
I disagree. It’s not how difficult people find things like signaling and proofreading. It’s how important they think it is. Imo most people who fail to signal when they should aren’t thinking, you know, I would be signaling if I just knew how. They just don’t see the point or don’t think about it at all. Similarly, people who fail to proofread and correct their spelling/grammar just don’t care.
Interesting graph, but kinda fails on principle.
I thought the principle of the graph was to make a joke. Y so srs?
and your right i really dont care. in fact i kinda get a little nit of joy inside when i know the grammar nazi’s amd spelling police are apolectic when they see ,y post.
I had a woman try and run through an orange light with her blinker on. Thinking she was turning I started to turn too, and she almost killed me. Then she looked at me like I was an idiot.
IN NY we dont use blinkers becuase we dont want to give away our actions to all the idiots on the road.
I’m always told I use my turn signal TOO much. I’m not sure how that’s possible, since I turn them on at least half a block before turning, in a turn only lane, and at least 5 seconds before changing lanes. I don’t drive around with it on for funsies.
what is a turn signal
what is a turn signal?
How about people who have their signal on and are going straight? Almost got in a wreck once that way. I was turning left, the opposite car (truck) had his right blinker on, so I started to turn. He didn’t. And he looked at ME like I was the idiot!
