    Indeed.

  2. bspinky says:

So you went to college for a job you didn’t want? Interesting…

  3. Lili says:

Ahh, me, too. Since I finished my formal education I’ve had ONE job that was in my chosen field, and several outside it. My headhunter/recruiter keeps shaking her head at my resume and saying, “I don’t even know where to start, you’ve done everything.”

    Well, she exaggerates :)

  4. Anon says:

Sorry, I can understand no convergence between the red and blue circles, but if the blue doesn’t at least overlap the green then urdoinitrong.

  5. zluz says:

True that. So, you might as well dance.

  6. jackie says:

why are “jobs i want” and “Jobs I went to college for” completely disjoint?

  7. spectre514 says:

in your next life, try going to college for the jobs you want, not ones you “may” get and dont want….so yeah…your graph does not fail, you fail.

    • cindyluwho says:

I do not fail. I just succeed where I didn’t plan to. Sometimes necessity dictates career choices rather than desire… And sometimes that leads to happy accidents!

  8. Me Too says:

Know plenty of people in this situation. If you don’t get a technical degree of some kind, you really have to work much harder at getting decent employment. Hell, with the way things are today, even if you do have a technical degree or background, you still don’t have much of a chance of finding decent employment. This job market is bullshit.

  9. bionelly says:

For me (and quite a few people I know), this would be accurate if the red and blue circles were switched.

    • papajon0s1 says:

Agreed. However… originally I got a degree in art but I’ve been IT support for 23+ years! So… a few years ago I got a degree in IT… but that wasn’t to move ahead, but just to keep pace with all the young talented folks out there. But the catch is if I could pick the job I wanted I’d write music for movies. Geez… I’m as off kilter as this graph author! Where’s my meds at…

  10. StrangeMagic says:

I’ll be glad when the job market changes….A Radio,TV and Film degree and I’ve wound up as either a retail manager or a appliance company rep. Back in school now to double up on that degree and hopefully the job market will ease up and be less competitive in all areas…
