  1. Pingo T Best says:

Or being a poorly-written self-fullfiling fantasy with flatter than paper characters.

  2. troll 5 says:

    5TH!

  3. LibrarianJessica says:

This graph is so true that it’s not really funny.

  4. abnormal says:

    wht about sparkly vampires?

  5. philip says:

This had better been a bar graph: they aren’t mutually exclusive and I doubt the distribution of popular books is as extreme as this.

  6. Elfking says:

…Why does EVERY new graph seem like a repost to me?!
Are my psychic powers going nuts nowadays or something?!
I could bet every Harry Potter book I own that I’ve seen this before, somehow!

  7. chaoticidealism says:

Well, it worked for Jenny McCarthy. That, and parading her kid’s autism around in public. I can only imagine how mortified he’s going to be when he’s a teenager.

  8. tytoon says:

hmmm you forgot turn a horror monster into a romantic fantasy for teenage girls who are too old to still like the jonas brothers but to young to have much common sense.

  9. Cowlifornia says:

you mean that ugly annoying fat person on tv? :/

  10. Mariachi says:

It worked for Towelie in the South Park episode where he poses as a human to publish his memoirs…

  11. amethyst says:

So true. “I’m looking for that book I saw on Oprah…” Us booksellers had better pay attention. On the other hand, when we do, we look like geniuses. Actually, any major media outlet will work, but Oprah most of all.

  12. Orca says:

Hah, another graph that looks just like -every- other one on the site.

Congrats, this is my 500th time seeing a graph like this, and it’s STILL funny =D

    /sarcasm

  13. rach says:

If its on Oprah, then you KNOW it’s terrible.

  14. cj says:

I saw Oprah on a magazine cover last night in the grocery store. Isn’t she starting to really show her age and not in a good way.

  15. Czernobog says:

    Oprah zombies need braaaainssss.

  16. Anna says:

This is sadly true. I worked at a bookstore and knew someone had been on Oprah when the phone started ringing off the hook around 4 in the afternoon.

    • amethyst says:

Yeah, and by 5 pm all the copies are sold or reserved, and no restock until the middle of next week. Better yet, no restock until the publisher reprints.

  17. Diego says:

    The graph says it all.

  18. Izzie Stevens says:

I so hope that if I get published, I’m not on Oprah!

  19. philip says:

I don’t remember Harry Potter have “a powerful concept that will change the world and bring about a new age of peace and prosperity for all”.

  20. internet nerds are cool says:

    times have changed.
