No kidding. We’re supposed to get thunderstorms during our parade.
Also, first
Right? And damnit if last week wasn’t sunny and beautiful during my step moms picnic… this isn’t even my graph but it hurts how true it is.
Yeah.. It’s been weeks since we’ve had any rain here, and now it’s finally coming today… of all days. Oy
Step Mother’s picnic- WIN!
Up here, it doesn’t rain on Halloween. If anything, it snows.
In what country is Step Mother’s Picnic a holiday? Anyway, I’m in Texas – any summer day that it does rain is like a holiday here.
Its a holiday to your wife or gf…or step mom. Because she gets to torture your ass
Or it won’t rain, AKA drought, and you can’t blow stuff up due to fire warnings.
agree with the drought/fire warning….
I actually don’t remember it ever raining ONCE on July 4th or Halloween here..
Guess I’m lucky
Same here. No rain for weeks on end (my dad’s garden is dying off), and then a giant cell is rolling in today. Ridiculous.
omg it rained today
11th
Awesome.
There isn’t any rain forecasted for today where I live. Also, I don’t think it’s ever rained on Halloween here. :]
no kidding! it’s raining right now, and it’s supposed to get worse, according to all the ugly news reporter creepers. it’s kinda sucky.
even if it doesn’t rain, My city, being evil, outlawed fireworks because it could scare dogs or something
Fail on both axes.
I’d rather have the rain instead of the burn ban we actually have!
In fact, I wish there to be an amazingly huge rain storm. Maybe not today, but I WANT IT SO BADLY!!
It could rain for fourty days and fourty nights and I’d be happy. I’d build an ark and take two of each animal. Two donkeys, two dogs, two cats, two horses, two snakes, two bugs, two squirrels, two moles, two birds…and that’s about all we have here.
Hahahaha! I laughed when I saw this. For Washington: Christmas: Sometimes. Halloween: On Occasion. Easter: WITHOUT FAIL! Every Easter we have had up here, it’s been rainy. Except that one Easter when it was scorching hot and everything, including the gummies, melted. 4th of July: NEVER! People up here are warning us NOT to blow up fireworks because 42 of the past 48 days have been dry. That includes the past 3 weeks. Right now, at 10:44. It is 83.2 degrees outside.
When you say Washington, do you mean Seattle, Tacoma, and Everett? Because my stock answer to people who ask when the rain stops is July 5th. Because we’ve had so many years where it was raining on the fourth. I’m in the Seattle Metro area. I can see Lake Washington from my apartment.
Really? Because I’ve lived in Tacoma for 8 years now, and we’ve had a couple short afternoon drizzles on partly cloudy days, but there’s really been no significant rain on the 4th the entire time I’ve lived here. From my experience the rain stops in May, and then picks back up again in October or November.
I’ve lived in the Seattle Metro area my entire life, 27 years, and rain on the fourth has always been the hot topic on the run up to the holiday. Considering I always have towels, plastic, and an emergency poncho in the trunk of my car tells you how much I trust the weather around here.
Just because it’s a hot topic doesn’t mean it really happens much. You never know, the weather can be pretty random around here, but rain is certainly way less likely on the 4th than on any other holiday.
I grew up on the other side of the mountains though, so we were more likely to be able to set of fireworks if it rained. And it NEVER rained.
Wow. Real Seattleites don’t prepare like that; they just go. Are you OCD or something?
Same here. There hasn’t been a day under 100 all summer.
its raining!
Rains on the 4th every ***kin’ year! HAET MIDWEST!
It always rains on the 3rd of July here, not the 4th. (hello from eastern Nebraska!!) but this year it rained a lot on the 4th. During a parade I was marching in too
and right before we were gonna set off fireworks….. But it cleared up
Rains here every year in FL
Haha yeah I went to Florida last year and it rained so we had to cancel firewroks…. Very unfortunate cause bottle rockets are legal there and I finally got to see em
(they’re illegal in Nebraska. Those are the only ones that are illegal though)
well thats freakin patriotic isnt it.
its raining here too
Rain in Orlando
mid 70s where i live. cool and dry
It rarely rains on the 4th of July here in Jacksonville, AFAIK. Today’s no exception. Some clouds right now, but it doesn’t look like it’ll rain.
My only beef with the 4th of July here in Jacksonville is if I want to get my hands on the good fireworks (i.e. M-80s, mortars, rockets (not the bottle variety)), I gotta go outside Jacksonville city limits to get it. Just because some stupid idiot failed to follow the directions and was injured, everybody else suffers for it. It SUCKS!
FYI: It hasn’t rained on July 4th in San Diego since 1850.
Hmm…I don’t remember ever having a rainy 4th here…and rarely on Halloween. It’s certainly humid, though, but it always is here. :/
This graph is so true. It’s been hot and sunny for the past few days, now it’s a few hours before the fireworks and guess what the weather is. Freaking pouring and clouds for miles.
Too too true. There was about five minutes of clear skies at noon, and the rest? RAIN.
Not that I wasn’t expecting it. That’s how it’s been for the last, oh, WEEK AND A HALF.
It rained last year, but they kept going so one of the fireworks failed to launch then it blew up right next to the pyrotechnicians who where overseeing it.
Actually, it’s rained all week and today it was really nice.
It rained in central Indiana all day. Its stopped now, but its no longer the 4th.
Meh
Haha WIN! I’m in upper Texas too. It started sprinkling while the final band was playing and then as the fireworks started.. so did the major downpour. Was definitely an Independence Day to remember as we watched the lightening and the fireworks in the rain.
It did rain tonight, actually. Only a drizzle, though, luckily.
last night
Someone should make one for the girlies: when your period turns up according to event (wedding, vacation, nothing to do whatsoever, etc.).
Incorrecto, yo.
here in PA this was the first clear day all summer.
barely a single cloud in the sky.
step mother’s picnic = EVENT not HOLIDAY
94 degrees here. only water came from the pool in my aunt’s yard… and this is OREGON we’re talking about…
It also always seems to rain or cloud up if I want to see meteors or an eclipse.
As it turns out, the answer entirely changes when you subtract some of the wording and add “when it’s rained almost every other day that week and you work the late shift at a bar and REALLY don’t want to deal with the rush before and after the fireworks happening right next to where you work” to “The 4th of July”.
Damnit.
Didn’t rain in Duluth, MN. =]
Well, it was supposed to rain on the 4th where I live (NE Tenn.), but it started sprinkling right after all the fireworks had gone off. Then I dreamt about the storm that happened on Memorial Day when I was seven that killed every bird within 5 miles on my neighbor’s lawn. (Gag me)
what the hell, it did rain this fourth of july.
We got rain on the 4th here. It stopped right before we started fireworks, though. xD
i shot up fireworks durning the rain!!!! and they still were showing!!
Hmm..I’ve never heard of a holiday called “Step Mother’s Picnic..that must be a national holiday in a different country…
For those curious, there’s a logical explanation, and I can explain it.
This describes how it works in Seattle.
That said, this past 04Jul, it didn’t actually rain, and we had clear skies. Was kinda weird.
rain bring life along with it,so let the rain fall now.
No, you fool! It doesn’t RAIN on Christmas! It’s too cold!!!
so true
