I was wondering the same thing about Jack Harkness, although to be fair he appeals to a smaller crowd than the Trek captains (I think). But, on the other hand, he’s so dreamy. I could just eat him up.
I don’t know about anywhere else, but here in the UK, I would be very surprised at anyone who didn’t know who he was…

Here in the US, sadly enough, most people would have no idea who Captain Jack Harkness is. Which is why I do my duty to spread the word by introducing all of my friends to Doctor Who and Torchwood.
