  1. Reika says:

    Unfortunatly, this is exactly right.

  2. Melissa says:

As Reika said, this is unfortunately true. All this coverage on how wonderful his musical career was, and so little on how he hurt little children.

    • Tito says:

Watch it there. He was never convicted.

    • ItsShinyTime says:

When somebody dies you don’t just go around telling people of all of the bad things they did; don’t you want to be remembered for all of the great things you’ve done in your life instead of for the few bad things you’ve done when you die?

      • Aple says:

The Nazi Supremesists say that about Hitler all the time!

        • Vortico says:

          Good point.

          • Meh says:

            a couple kids vs. 5.9 million Jews + 2–3 million Soviet POWs + 1.8–2 million Polish + 220,000–1,500,000 Romani + 200,000–250,000 Disabled + 5,000–15,000 Homosexuals + 2,500–5,000 Jehovah’s
            Witnesses

I can’t even believe how they can air all this bad information about Hitler. :P

            Tschüss

            • Meh says:

And, yeah, I really did get the joke, but I’ve argued with a Nazi supremacist before, so…

              ^^Argue with that

            • Redneck_Rebel says:

Point being that if someone does something as horrific as molesting children it shouldn’t be forgotten and glossed over as if it never happened just because that person happened to be admired before they did what they did. The point wasn’t that Michael Jackson was equal to Hitler but that the concept is the same.

              • fgsfds says:

“Point being that if someone does something as horrific as molesting children it shouldn’t be forgotten and glossed over as if it never happened”

The reason it’s being forgotten and glossed over as if it never happened, is because in reality it never happened.

                • lilkittykats says:

tru dat, and to u haters its sad wen a bad person dies because they’ll never have a chance to do a good thing…

    • katdemon♥fire says:

The parents made that up. Do you have any idea how easy it is to coerce a child to believe something. If you keep pressuring them and saying “sweaty, did he hurt you” eventually they’ll say yes, just to appease their parents. He was really close to Mccauley Culkin when he was a child, and when all this happened he said he’d never even felt uncomfortable around him.
And lady Kitteh makes a valuable pint as well.

    • Squirrely__Kitteh says:

      I know, right?!

  3. Skyfire says:

It’s more like 95% Michael, 3% Other celebrity deaths, 2% All other news.

    • Reika says:

More like 95% Michael, 3% other news, and 2% celebrity deaths. Farrah has been dead for a week now and I’ve only heard about her twice on TV. I heard a few ‘other news’ stories this past week, even though they were short and segued back to Michael. Still, I heard more other news than other celebrity deaths. Sad, too. Personally, I’m more sad over Farrah and she’s not getting the media attention she deserves right now. :/

      • moi says:

it upsets me that farrah has been totally forgotten even though she was a great actress and a strong woman…heck even something on mays would be nice, the news is only repeating what everyone already knew about michael jackson. what new information can they have on mj? seriously?

        • bunnyrut says:

agreed. i’m sick of hearing only micheal jackson music at work all day. i’m sick of people saying “have you heard about mj?” a week later.

yes, he’s dead now. and so are other people. you didn’t know him personally, so stop acting like your dad just died.

sorry to be so cold, but i have more meaningful deaths to deal with in my life than some “icon” who i really didn’t have any personal feelings for.

  4. Daniel says:

Don’t forget the coup d’etat in Honduras!

Things had gotten ridiculous even before six TVs at the gym, all on different channels, were simultaneously offering the latest on MJ. Then they switched to the President giving a town meeting…and then back to MJ. I mean, wow, Iran must have been awfully boring, right?

  5. Julienne says:

Forgot Jon Minus Kate + Eight

  6. Jeff says:

Mark Stanford probably deserved a little slice if that pie.

    • Spandor says:

Jackson pulled just about the right stunt to keep SC from getting any more bad press (this time around). Exactly what we need is for the last 4 people to know about our idiot governor.

I consider the fact that he is not on this pie to be mission accomplished!

  7. Todd says:

My penis was gonna be on the news but it was too big. You’re all wusses.

Any woman want a real man, look me up.

  8. Sam says:

swine flu is soooo out! no one even cares about it anymore, maybe swine flu should do a sex tape and then people would start caring about it again.

    • ClickClick says:

I think we’re all pretty knowledgeable about swine flu now, and yes we do all care.
      .
But your suggestion regarding a questionable tape regaining the harsh light of the news media is probably spot on.

      • Cowlifornia says:

who cared? how many people were infected and died? oh. not as many as during a regular flu. ;)

now… if the pig went and killed a million people in one hour, then maybe it would bump MJ off the top news spot

    • Meh says:

I heard swine flu had herpes.

  9. BondFan4518 says:

Very true. When I was in Paris, this was literally the only thing on the news. For three whole days.

  10. Sean says:

if you saw Jon Stewart, he did an episode a couple nights ago that showed this perfectly…it was also hilarious

  11. Ghostwish says:

Huh, funny. I just noticed there’s no ‘anything meaningful’ section of the graph.

  12. likesLSDalot says:

that swine flu one has to be way smaller. and food recalls shouldn’t even be there.

  13. cassie says:

there was a metro crash????? i didn’t even hear, all i saw on the news was michael jackson.

  14. Lawl says:

Same goes for the graphs posted here…

  15. tyler says:

what about billy mays? he should be on the pie chart

  16. jordin says:

And no one here even realizes that no one said anything about cap and trade. That 1600-page bill that no one read that could end up being effectively the biggest tax increase in U.S. history and won’t even affect the temperature by 1/2 a degree by 2100? Intentionally raising energy prices, and therefore prices on everything, in the middle of the greatest recession in 70 years? Yeah, that’s not important.

  17. Tommy says:

Just like the news, this graph also completely neglected Billy Mays’ death. At least there’s a strong support for him in the video game world.

  18. guitarfreak says:

    0% Farrah Fawcett’s Death
Nobody cares about the death of Farrah Fawcett. ‘Specially noone on the news.

    • Rae says:

Farrah Fawcett’s death was very sad, however was also very expected. She had been ill a long time. MJ’s death was just so unexpected and tragic. And his status as the King of Pop made it all the more newsworthy. I hope they are both at peace.

  19. MLD says:

The red section needs to be much MUCH larger

  20. TheQuestion says:

Just to clear some things up: When I made this graph, Honduras was out of the news and Billy Mays was alive. And there was a food recall; of beef, I believe.

  21. Ydobon says:

Which economy are you takling about?

  22. RainbowPaint says:

I like how Iran’s slice is green.

  23. Nini says:

Specify “in America”. It’s only there that the news are *that* easily distracted.
    ps. MJ forever anyway.

  24. intelligent says:

this must be a graph of CNN, MSNBC, FOX, &c. Just go to BBC and EURO to find news. Why bother with American entertainment for the stupid??

  25. Doc says:

Hey, Unless you have first hand knowledge, don’t bother to comment on Michael Jackson’s innocent/guilt as it is hearsay. If you don’t have any children, then you don’t have a clue as to how concerning those allegations were, If you do have children, how many of you would have felt comfortable leaving you child/children alone with Michael Jackson? Nuff said.
He was an entertainer that made a load of money with his talent, succumbed to the crush of the enormous pressure of his fame, and ultimately broke. A sad story, but that is all it is…Nothing more.

    • haha says:

I don’t think my mom would be fine with any random stranger who isn’t my babysitter staying at my house.

      • Rae says:

I know I would have never let my child stay with someone, superstar or not without ‘knowing them’. Shame on the parents that didn’t do their homework. I still don’t feel he every did anything that he was accused of…but he was sure taken advantage of.

    • Rae says:

I would not have wanted his life. I’m sure the only pleasure he really ever had was his 3 beautiful children who are now, because of the pressure, accusations and whatever else, are now fatherless.

  26. Azkyroth says:

What’s the difference between Michael Jackson and caviar?

…caviar still comes on little white crackers.

  27. fgsfds says:

    BREAKING NEWS

    MICHAEL JACKSON STILL DEAD

  28. Name says:

    Michael Jackson molested children.

    OJ killed his wife.

It happened. Can’t begin to comprehend why on earth people try to defend these two people.

    • Name says:

People who you’ve never met and never will.

    • ritchie says:

How are you so sure? The kid confessed he made it up under the pressure of his parents. “It happened” you know nothing man, stop the random speculations.

    • fgsfds says:

Hey, dude. You’re a kiddy fiddler too. PROVE ME WRONG. Doesn’t matter that you’ve not been arrested, or that I’ve got no evidence, you’re still a kiddy fiddler.

      • What says:

while the actual crime is not at all funny, “kiddy fiddler” has got to be the most hilarious thing I’ve read in weeks.

    • Rae says:

Keep your negativity to yourself. Do your research. Watch the movie “Man In The Mirror”. Pathetic.

    • Rae says:

Walk a day in his shoes – you couldn’t handle it. He took the persecution with grace – never retaliated. Only to make a statement that he was innocent. The eyes say it all. His eyes were not that of a criminal…now…his father’s on other hand…. look at them.

  29. Stephen says:

The news coverage in the summer of 1977 when Elvis died was equal to what we see with MJ today, just more channels and the internet too.

  30. airdrummer says:

L.A. is complaining about paying for crowd control…they should do what memphis did & cash in on graceland…mecca, 2;-)

  31. dolt says:

what about the 20 pence peices without dates which the bank of england is offering £50 for the return of?

  32. Andrea says:

LOL….I think the red should be a bit bigger

  33. Rae says:

Honestly, I’m of hearing about all of the other stuff. At least with the Michael Jackson news, even tho it was very sad because of his death, it also relayed to everyone FINALLY what amazing Humanitarian he was. Some good news for once!!!

  34. Heyimrandom says:

thats so true. i just turned to the news and they’re talking about him.
    WTF!
