???
there’s no such thing in Portugal
or is there…whatever
Like we say here: “não interessa!”
powder white!
It’s filtering software parents can put in place to supposedly block their kids from accessing pornography. It doesn’t work very well.
you spend SOOOO much time on this website it is unbelievable
But wait, Isn’t that a good thing?
Who needs research sites anyway?
Intarnets is for teh pr0n!
you spend SOOO much time on this..wow
“research”… sure, I believe you.
Everyone should do plenty of research on cherry-popping.
It’s the same at schools…
ya i kno whenever my class goes to the computers the teacher leaves and half the class tries to go to game sites and thoes sites are blocked but the other half of the class is looking up porn and no block lol
Maybe you shouldn’t write school reports about pooping catgirls.
SRSLY.
If you think that’s bad, IMAGINE A WHOLE COUNTRY LIKE THAT.
It’s a bitch finding a proxy to find images of artistic nude on google too.. PFFT. Sucks to be an art student in a conservative country.
if you need a proxy server try hidemyass [dot] com . i dont know how filters work in your country but i’m fairly sure its impossibe to block a proxy site
What class is the research for?
Back in the day when I was in school (2 years ago), I would go to the library and find some books on the subject I was researching.
That school also has an honor code that didn’t allow me to copy/paste from Wikipedia.
This “need” to go on these “Research sites” is all in your head.
lmao, nerd
Sigh…
Above comment translated:
“Hahaha, this guy sounds like he actually put effort into life. What a loser. When I get older, I’m going to be so cool everyone will simply ignore my horible notes.”
Thats alright for some subjects but when the school reference books haven’t been updated since the 60’s and your teacher wants a paper with up to date facts it different.
Ugh. Not if you’re taking an info tech class. Our teacher REQUIRES web addresses when we site research. But that could also be because she’s crazy.
how true it is
Amen! Our high school’s filter was terrible. It blocked Wikipedia, every single site on gardening (catagory: drugs), it even blocked sections of college’s websites! It was stupid.
Oh, I Know. I was researching a project on medieval castles, and it was blocking some sites with pictures of “dangerous weapons” a.k.a really old swords.
I was doing a report on the Mars rover back in the day when people still gave a damn about it and the search engine blocked my search for “Mars explorer” because all it saw was marSEXplorer
I can’t access half the sites I want to use for art assignments because some pages on the sites (not even the pages I’m using) refer to the works being about sex, violence, drugs, etc.
You obviously don’t know just how much porn is out there, my friend. If you’re referring to how much porn you’ve tried to look at that was blocked as opposed to research sites, that I’ll buy, but there is a much larger number of porn sites than there is of any site worth doing research on.
But what if you’re researching porn?
Lucky you, then.
I’m glad everyone likes my graph
Better as a Venn diagram? Valid point, but *also* parental controls don’t successfully block teh pr0n.
they need to add a third category: everything else!
Yea… Is it SonicWall? Our school uses everything on the block list besides childrens sites. Half of the internet is blocked under “Forbidden Category: Unrated” (this includes various research and personal websites). The rest is blocked under various other categories, including
Education,
Sex Ed,
Pornography,
Games,
Religion,
Adult/Mature Content,
Cult/Occult,
Drugs/Alcohol/Tabacco,
Criminal and Illegal Skills,
Hacking and Proxy Avoidance (Including ALL of WikiHow)
Intamite Apparel/Swimsuits,
Violence/Hate/Racism,
MP3/Streaming
Administrative Custom Settings list
Arts/Entertainment (WebComics and the like)
Auctions
Shopping
Vehicles
Food/Dining
Brokerage/Trading
Economy/Buisness
Chat/IM
Cultural Institutions
Email
Search Engines and Portals (We have to enter each URL by hand, Google is dangerous!)
And soon to contain…
“Forbidden Category: The Internet”
All in all, about 95% of the internet is blocked.
Do they block wikipedia/encyclopedia brittanica, or your schools website
*school’s
They have a blocked category for education? Seriously? What the hell is with that?
Stop researching “megan fox nude”.
It blocks encyclopedia brittanica, but not playboy.com
im so glad i can hack and disable parental controls
I’ve done it. You just kill the process in the Task Manager
the one called wpcumi.exe?
yo i made a new graph:

This reminds me of a few parental control programs there used to be on my computer when I was young.
The first blocked most, if not all, of the children’s websites on the internet like cartoonnetwork.com. But it didn’t block adult sites. I guess the function it served was to prevent parents from accessing their child’s favorite website instead of their favorite porn site.
The second went crazy. It initially worked fine, but eventually it ended up blocking every single site on the internet. Except maybe something.com.
I had an art class in high school with a project in which we had to research a modern artist. My friend was researching Chip Foose’s art (draws cars) and everthing was getting blocked. I was researching an artist who is also a popular musician and most of the pages that came up in the google search were random fan blogs saying stuff like “I want to f***…” and none of those were blocked.
