Ew, this one is dumb.
Nah, it’s totally true. I lived without internet for a week, and this was exactly what I did. Although I did more reading and less crying lol
I lived in India for months without a phone or computer/internet and was fine. No crying, lots of reading, exploring and enjoying real life.
It’s different when you’ve had the internet for a large portion of your life, if not your entire life. Without it, you’re really lost.
It’s like that saying: “you never know what you got ’till it’s gone.”
Let me correct that, I’m an American who lived in India for several months when I was 19. My father was one of the foremost computer programmers, and I’ve had at least one personal computer in my home since I was born. I’ve had the internet as long as I can remember (I at least remember having AOL when that became the cool thing to do circa the mid nineties. You’re also quite ignorant if you think that India isn’t teaming with cellphones and the internet, it was more or less that I chose to escape those ammenities while there.
I’m not lost without it.

I was just thinking of how sadly true this graph is… I know lots of people who spend every minute on of their free time (is this correct? Free time I mean) browsing the internet or on Facebook…
As far as I am concerned the only thing I am addicted to is the “random article” button on Wikipedia…
McDonalds never had Free Wi-Fi. It WAS only for Nintendo DS systems, and that was because of a partnership with Wayport, who has recently been bought out by AT&T.
If you have AT&T internet, then yes, your Wi-Fi at the McDonalds is 100% free. You will just need to know your login and password. Otherwise, BDs, Starbucks, or Buffalo Wild Wings will work.
I’m very lucky because my neighborhood… I don’t know what you call it, but we call it a clubhouse (thats what it says on the sign) and they just got free Wi-Fi, which is great because I have to take my sister there often.

i remember a time in my life where the internet was still relatively new and computers had dos and HUGE pixels….that’s when i had a bike and the only rule was be back before dark, and i would be outside from 9 am till 8pm just playing….sad that kids now can’t even function without the internets…
But to go out nowadays would result in a pedophile attacking the kid, CPA arresting the parents, and pedophiles in the CPA abducting the child.
I only cry in the corner because that’s where my computer is…

I’m in the minority too. I just read, play piano, do whatever. It’s very easy to get along without internet. Remember, civilizations existed for thousands of years without internet.

Not a single one! My town is really small, so the only place with internet is the public library. It’s not even worth the try because everything aside from my town’s webpage is blocked. >_<

There should be one more option on here: spend time with friends/family. Yeah, it sounds corny, but seriously.
Everyone in my family except my younger sister has their own computer with access to the Internet. Usually my mom goes to work on grading papers, my dad browses the listings on eBay, and I do my high school classes/use Facebook. We hardly do anything around each other at all.
THEN, one horrible day…..the Internet was down.
My parents were literally throwing fits about it. No YouTube, no Google, no eBay! What are we going to do? If only the INTERNET was working, we could look up tofu recipes for dinner, let you hear what this one really awesome band sounds like, etc, etc.
I was the only one who enjoyed my time without the Internet.
I almost cried because my parents were so dependent on it.
Anyway, it forced us to spend some time together, and I liked that.
(I ramble. Sorry…. XD)

Same here! There are also quite a few books I’d like to read (well, I am reading them, but I’m sure I’d finish them faster if I wasn’t on the internet so much). On the other hand, I mostly get my books and DVDs online, so that may be a problem if the internet is gone for too long….
You could always use back-up wireless internet. I do.

It’s like you read my mind! When I go home for breaks during school, my mom doesn’t have internet, so I use McDonald’s free Wifi. It’s awesome. And they don’t even bother me to buy anything.

A while back my computer died a tragic death. I had not access to the internet for almost two months when I finally could afford a new computer. (The company I work for blocks everything on the internet except approved sites for your particular job.) I thought I would lose my mind for the first few days. But, I found out that just like when I was young, I can live without the internet. Though, as a last thought, I sure don’t want to!

A few days before April 1 this year there was a scare about this massive worm that may have implanted on your computer before and would activate on April Fool’s Day. I told my classmates in graphic design about it and to just be careful and someone suggested we just not turn on our computers that day. Then someone else said that we may as well unplug our hearts. Not having internet is a pain in the butt, but I’m not THAT attached to it. -_-; Of course it’s different if your work depends on the internet working. I just play Sims or read comic books.
