  1. Meowmi says:

    Ah…the Patriot Act.

  2. Proud 2 B American says:

The whole middle part represents putting someone with “Hussein” in his name in charge.

    • Kinoko says:

Please go back into your trailer you ignorant retard. You must be that lady from the one McCain rally: “He’s a.. He’s a… He’s Arab”

      • V Gard says:

so much love for those with different oppinions…

        • Yosh says:

Kinoko’s comment doesn’t seem to be against those with differing opinions, just against the ones who seem to believe that someone with one name acts the same as another with the same name. Besides, Obama’s MIDDLE name is Hussein. The Iraqi president’s LAST name was Hussein. Not quite the same…

    • Sarah says:

Yeah, every other person in the world named Sarah is exactly like me…funny how that works, isn’t it?

    • Lucy says:

My fiancee’s middle name is “Adolf,” and I have yet to catch him in the act of genocide. Perhaps more research is needed on the supposed correlation between the names of people and the actions they commit.

      • Mimbre says:

Pwnd! That must be the single most inteligent comment on this site.

        • Starlinguk says:

Why on earth did his parents call him Adolf? Here in Europe people who call their kids Adolf are virtually always Nazi sympathisers (or really stupid).

No offence to your fiance (I assume he’s a fiance, not a fiancee? Unless Adolf is a girl’s name nowadays?), he can’t help his name! ;)

Anyhoo, they’ve just found out that the London Metropolitan Police has been waterboarding people. So it’s not just the US, I’m afraid.

          • herb says:

I suddenly have the urge to give my next kid the middle name StalinMaoPotMugabe

          • Lucy says:

It was his great-grandfather’s name, who was from Hungary. His parents didn’t think it would be a big deal as a middle name, but he doesn’t appreciate it, and often disavows his middle name altogether. But I love him, odd names and all. (And you’re right, one too many ‘e’s in there, LOL).

That’s a shame to hear. Fear drives people, including people in power, to do drastic things; the last thing the world needs is a government acting out of fear.

    • Johnathan says:

In fairness to this twit, we did more or less put Saddam in charge

  3. Proud 2 have a brain says:

And bombing innocent civilians with illegal weapons for example.

  4. joseph says:

ah yes, because we are so scared of terrorists raising our taxes, or taking property through eminent domain, or tracking our internet usage, or censoring radio and television, or imposing stupid policies on states that shouldn’t be decided federally.

or is this graph suggesting that one of the major functions of US government is exploding it’s own citizens and buildings? because I’m pretty sure that’s the primary fear people have of terrorists.

    • the real truth says:

Its a fact that 9/11 was an inside job. Cheney worked to create a scenario whereby the US government could invade an oil rich nation and take control of its oil stocks. Obama is still hoping to achieve this, which is why he has done nothing to fulfill his promise to end that war.

      • seriously?!?! says:

Truther alert!!!!! Pay no attention and try not to slip in the foam slipping from his slack lips as you move on.

      • Sarah says:

Let’s see what Your Royal Highness can do with about 6 months in office…please…enlighten us all.

        • Obligated says:

Why, we are not expecting miracles or anything like that, we just expect him to reverse all the damage done in the previous 8 years in 6 months. No pressure at all.

          • Yosh says:

No. We expected it to be reversed the day he was inaugurated. How dare he get some sleep or watch a basketball game! He made all these big promises, but failed to deliver even one on his first day of office.

      • il crimine non paga says:

It was way funnier when Mulder did it.

      • P. says:

That explains why we had record low oil prices, and gas hasn’t been this cheap since the 1950’s!

        Oh… wait…

      • uefa81glory says:

        “Fact”?????? LOL. tin hat anyone?

      • matt says:

You and your kind of people are bringing down this country.

      • Azkyroth says:

There is absolutely, positively, no way the Bush administration planned and carried out 9/11.

        How do I know? Simple:

        It succeeded.

        • Ant says:

          lolpwn

        • Setati says:

Nice try Azkyroth, but your theory has a flaw. If you assume Bush (and/or Bush admin) always screws things up, then you have to assume they are not capable of doing even that 100% right. That means at least one plan would have actually had to work.

        • The Real Truth says:

If you state that “it succeeded” then you say the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were both successes because they were both part of the plan. So which is it, a success or a failure?

          • slaggingham says:

            You are insane.

For one, there are no US oil companies operating in Iran. Only Dubai, China, and one big Dutch company.

      • Starlinguk says:

Truth is stranger than fiction, non?

Or should that be the other way around.

      • Randomness says:

You DO know that The Afghanistan war was about 9/11 not the iraq. (i know they are often confused since we took Afghanistan so quickly and iraq is dragging on…)

  5. Benjamin Franklin says:

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

    • the real truth says:

He also listed chastity as a virtue, yet was a notorious womanizer.

      • amused says:

        Amusingly, so was MLK

that doesn’t immediately discredit what he said and did

      • Rohvannyn says:

Way to go, Ben. Hey, Truth, part of what you said earlier about 911 has some merit. So I won’t fault you on any of that. However, as one who has read and understood and enjoyed Benjamin Franklin’s autobiography, I can state with conviction that he had a list of virtues that he always strove for. However, not being a hypocrite, he also freely admitted that he often failed in his goals. And the words remain true.

        • The Real Truth says:

So if he did not follow one saying with the way he led his life, you can’t pull a convenient saying just because it proves one point.

      • suckas says:

And Mr T was supposed to be good to his momma, what’s your point?

  6. Jefoid says:

    Isn’t this a re-post?

  7. steroid says:

Maybe the key is whom they do it to.

And I’d like to see the size of the circle for the North Korean gov’t, or Iranian.

  8. krisstaar says:

Spot on!! All though, you should have circle representing what the U.S. Government does while blaming terrorists too!

  9. Cowlifornia says:

maybe the ‘population’ is a bunch of sheep. i would really love to know what substantiated items i am scared about?

  10. 3rthReich says:

How bout making a Venn about what did terrorists really ever did and the attacks that have been commited this last century…

    My guess we’ll never find a intersection….

  11. V Gard says:

    EPIC PHAIL GRAPH.

  12. Perry Neum says:

Sounds about right. Everyone knows we can fix everything by buying more bibles, guns, and flags, right? *rolls eyes*

    • Penelopi says:

Well according to Eddie Izzard, “No flag, no country. Those are the rules I just made up.”

  13. The Government says:

Look over there! WMD’s! Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

  14. jon99 says:

You must be related to John Birch

  15. fda;skljhdl says:

    Warning tin-foil hat area.

  16. Anon says:

So… The US government kills innocent people on purpose?

There’s a difference between targeting and killing one innocent person, and targeting and killing one guilty person while a hundred innocents die by accident.

    • Fritz says:

Daily. The US could end the drinking water problems of the entire world with a wave of a pen, and not even notice the cost. People die daily from lack of drinking water. The US is guilty for those inocents through inaction.

      • markmier says:

That is an epic exaggeration. Lots of places (including lots of places inside the US!) have major problems with their drinking water supply. Often there are no easy fixes, and throwing money at the problem rarely helps.

      • Jack says:

Folks, let’s give him a minute here.

OK “Fritz”, how? If you feel you are correct, tell us all:

        -what it will cost
-what programs (and don’t go for the unoriginal “defense spending” will receive reduced funding to cover the costs
        -how it will be implemented
-where the treatment facilities will be located
        -who will run it
-how will we make sure the clean water reaches those who need it

        • Ira says:

          a) one needn’t resort to guilt-by-inaction arguments to establish that the U.S. kills innocents on purpose. For starters, check out independent historian William Blum’s _Killing Hope_. For something more complex, analytically, check out mainstream political scientist Sheldon Wolin’s _Democracy, Inc._.

          b) but since the guilt-by-inaction argument’s on the table here, for goodness’ sake, Jack, don’t suggest this tired exclusion–”and don’t go for the unoriginal ‘defense spending’”–that tries to hide its inanity by calling an opposing argument ‘unoriginal.’ The reason this exclusion is tired, and not valid, is that ‘originality’ has nothing to do with the moral question at hand. There is, simply put, no question whatsoever that the United States could (if democracy works at all, that is) cut its military spending dramatically. And it should do so. The fact that this is not a new idea is irrelevant.

If the people who collectively and singly imagine themselves to, together, comprise the United States should work up the nerve and the character to do so, they could (can!) elect governments that will cut military spending by abiding by international law and participating as one power among many in international judicial bodies. If this should happen, there would be an extraordinary amount of money freed up for other purposes.

At the very least, people in the U.S. with gumption should hold Obama accountable for offering clear, viable plans for accomplishing the above. And that really is the absolute least, indeed.

    • BOOM! says:

no there is no difference, when one innocent person dies there is no justification.

  17. Erender says:

Gah! “Someone is wrong on the internet!”

    Must… Resist… Discussion…

  18. Mintaka says:

Well, at least the US government circle is bigger than the terrorist one…that’s vaguely reassuring, isn’t it?

  19. Setati says:

I think the graphs fails – because it leave too much open to interpretation. If there were specific data point in the intersection to demonstrate what the author was trying to say ti would work better. Agree with it or not, the meaning would be clear….which is the purpose of a graph.

  20. Fritz says:

So what’s supposed to be in the salmon colored area? Anyone have an example?

  21. papajon says:

So, are there different colored tin foil hats depending on which side’s conspiracy theories you believe are absolute fact?

geez, you know, where has the love gone? I want a graph about that!

    • Quit Complaining says:

If you want your graph about love, quit bitching, make one worth seeing and submit it. If it is any good, and a (venn diagram), perhaps it will make it to the site and we can all see how smart and witty you are.

YOU are what is wrong here. YOU want to have everything handed to you but are clearly too lazy to contribute.

  22. Bubette Duponte says:

    Blowing up apartment blocks…

    • BOOM! says:

BOOM! there goes another dozen innocent people because we got ‘intelligence’ about a suspected ‘insurgent’ in an apartment building. That is also the sound of more ‘insurgents’ being created who want to fight back against the people who are blowing up their friends and family.

      • The Real Truth says:

You speak of this like it is a new problem. Remember when Clinton authorized a missile strike on a chemical weapons factory in Sudan because he was convinced they were making WMDs?

No? Oh, that’s right, remembering that would force you to admit that Bush is not the first president to attack other nations based on incorrect information he believed to be correct.

        • BOOM! says:

          b-b-but clinton… LOL!

clinton never lied to congress to get us into an invasion in a foreign country that caused the death of hundreds of thousands of individuals fighting an invading force.

Never caused us to go from being a world superpower to being a laughingstock and basically turned us from being the good guys to torturing and raping prisoners who we hold without having any evidence for doing so other than information gained through torturing other people.

Bush didn’t just attack another nation because he believed the information to be correct, the presidency was hijacked by a neo-conservative movement hell bent on invading arab countries and killing muslims.

  23. toquinho says:

“It’s true that tactless teem totem-poles turn tolerance to tired taboos”

  24. JimmEh! says:

    Typical liberal dissemination of mis-information.

  25. El Vis says:

    Needs more overlap IMO.

  26. zorg says:

    how true it is!

  27. meepymoof says:

oh mai!!! so vewwy, vewwy twoo!!!! finally, sumbuddy else wit common sense in dis country!!!!! way to goooo!!!!!! WOOT!!!!!! ^-^

  28. Frank says:

it astounds me how congratulatory all you self-loathing americans are. how’s obama working out for you? thank god bush is out of office because the economy has picked up, torture has ended, iraq and afghanistan are getting troops pulled out, gays in the military is a-ok, and the usa as a whole is more solid than ever.

    • slaggingham says:

[voice of that one Foreign office worker character on "Family Guy"]

Ha-Ha-Ha! Is Funny, because none of that is true!

      [/voice]

  29. sup? says:

  30. Eric9999999 says:

The second i saw this graph, i knew the comments were going to be awesome. I was not disappointed.
