  1. Seddah says:

My occupation is student and I get up at 5pm. I love night classes. Now to become an artist.

  2. jomarthegreat says:

artist = painter or musician? Because My gf is an artist and she definitely doesn’t get up that late.

  3. bikinpsych says:

Correction: if the doctor and the lawyer are even remotely successful, the secretary is getting up half an hour BEFORE them.

  4. Lisa says:

I have never worked in an office where the lawyers or execs got into work before the secretaries. Major flaw in your chart there.

  5. claire says:

    hehe i’m a hobo

  6. RJ says:

I just noticed that this graph isn’t funny. Funny.

  7. JaNeT says:

As an artist I have to say… it is funny, but also… keep in mind that we stay up till about5-6am :D

    • scrambledeggsandsausage says:

I know, Warcraft keeps you up all hours.

      • JaNeT says:

I WISH! I’m an animator… I might be MAKING the future Warcraft! (Ps. the ones at my school who play games all night or party all week are the ones that fail and drop out… intense school that makes you cry!)

  8. Anon says:

I work security. My wake up time is 8pm

Of course, my bedtime, is closer to noon.

  9. krisstaar says:

I’m a freelance hobo and I get up much earlier than that!

  10. fubuki says:

This graph isn’t even remotely accurate. There are way more than 5 occupations in the world. I’m outraged.

  11. papajon says:

Just curious what the joke is supposed to be here. Is it funny that artists wake up later than hobos? I’d imagine I’d have a few things to do if I were a hobo during daylight hours. It looks reasonable to me.

But sorry, once you have kids this graph becomes meaningless anyway.

    • Th-Rob says:

I know, ever slept outside? You tend to wake up at dawn regardless of what time you went to sleep. I’d think the hobos would be up and cracking with the rest of the waking world.

  12. GS says:

A hobo has to make it in time for McDonald’s Breakfast!

  13. penguin_man says:

The hobos in my area tend to get up quite earlier then that.

  14. chris says:

as an artist, I can say, that’s about right. but there have been days when I get up later then that

    • Racuh says:

I get up at hobo time evidently. I’m a very successful designer… who says you gotta get up early to rock socks? Also… video conferencing. All I gotta say about that one.

  15. Hanabi says:

Well, I’m lazy, homeshooled AND an artist, and already I’m waiting until 10:00-10:30 to get up. So, if I can just finish school… :3

  16. Meh says:

Since when is being a hobo an occupation? I want to start studying now so that when college comes up, I’ll be more equipped to earn my degree.

  17. MUFFINZ!!!:D says:

Actually, I’m An Artist and I Absolutely HATE Sleeping In. It Wastes WAAAY Too Much Precious Time :|

    • jbug says:

No kidding. This graph must be referring to “starving” artist. All the artists I know with thriving careers get up somewhere between “doctor” and “lawyer.”

  18. musiCat85 says:

Why are so many people being so disrespectful toward artists? Is it because you don’t have any creative talent and you’re jealous? Or because you’re bored and don’t have anything better to do?

  19. Erin says:

Go to hell, I’m a Visual Merchandiser=Artist. I get up at 4 and sometimes 3 am to go to work and work 9-14 hour days. Your little graph is stupid and rude and reinforces stereotypes that we are all lazy pot smoking fee-loaders. I’m not, none of the artists I have ever worked with have been. Grow up jerk.

  20. Dirk says:

The hobos in my town need to get up early to pick up the natty ice cans the college students leave all over their lawns

  21. Lockecole1994 says:

Damn… I’m an artist and I wish I could get up at 1pm. I have to get up at 6am. Lame.. who are these lucky 1pm artists? Probably freelancers.. yeah.. lucky freelancers.

  22. I’m a college student on break doing art commissions for some money this summer and I tend to get up at 10~11 am but go to bed around 2~3. Getting up later doesn’t necessarily mean you spend less time working. :)

  23. bob says:

what can I say? we’re dreamers.

  24. Dave says:

Father Guido Sarducci had a bit about this–become an artist. You can sleep later than most anyone–even priests.

  25. artist too says:

when I was a freelancer I didn’t get up until noon usually, but that’s also because I would be in the theater for rehearsals or dress rehearsals until 1am. Now I have a job that makes me be there at 9am. I wish I was freelancing again.

  26. Pierre says:

A better graph would have been of “unpaid overtime”

  27. CandleJack says:

I’m an author. It’s pretty much the same as an artist. It’s good to call it an “occupation”, because at the moment it just occupies me, doesn’t make me any money, so it’s not a job. But I do get up around noon each day. Just have to love when they’re willing to pay you more for the late shift at the store when you prefer it anyway.

  28. bubulina says:

That is simply not true! I am a designer and, except the weekends, I wake up around 10 – 11 am! :-p

    • bubulina says:

How cool is that!?!? My previous comment appeared to have been posted at 8:12 am…of course, that would be cooler if I lived in the USA :-) )

  29. doc says:

well i’m a professional doctor and i usually roll out of bed at like 1 or 2, hungover. thank god i’m not an artist, i would never be able to handle the pressure.

    • Racuh says:

Yes, thank god. I spent most of last year designing Siemens imaging equipment. Think of how much harder your job would be without a CT machine. /sarcasm

I still went to work at 11-12ish. But rolling in late doesn’t equate to leaving early. Artistry is a noble profession. EVERYTHING is designed first. Enjoy that car you drive in buddy.

      • doc says:

wow, maybe the reason there hasn’t been a funny graph on here in months is that it’s filled with all these very important artists who have to get up so early in the morning? i wouldn’t have a sense of humor either if i were that sleep-deprived.

  30. kiaran says:

Pah, lies! :D I’m a digital painter and waking up at 4am during late spring/early summer is common for me, just to get some work done before the sunlight comes beaming into my room (can’t stand blinds + giant windows). Also the early mornings are quite beautiful.

  31. Neitherworld says:

And the best part is I WANT to be an artist :D

Through I probably won’t sleep in that late ’cause I get really (I blame my anger management) grumpy if a wake up later than 9:00 AM XD

  32. Sud_Vicious says:

Its funny how the income for these jobs is the inverse of the graph.

Of course, the hobo job might be closer to the doc and lawyer.

  33. Michelle says:

i get up the same time as the hobo….O.o

  34. Mizana says:

And that is why I’m an artist…Well actually I sleep till 3 or 4…

  35. dogvomit says:

    WTF ever, idiot.

  36. dogvomit says:

that comment wasn’t directed at the previous posters, but to the graph creator

  37. tea money says:

I think you reversed Lawyer and secretary?
