    W00T!

  2. blah says:

Good, but I’d prefer less MS Paint.

  3. Tocath says:

    Through the roof, ftw

  4. Hailey says:

Oh my god! Congratulations! I think this is actually the billionth time some one has made this exact joke! Really, thank you for the 1999 era joke. Got any president Clinton jokes while you’re at it?

  5. Anon says:

    Good idea but poorly executed.

  6. Kashmir says:

    Smartly executed, good joke.

    Congrats.

  7. jeff says:

well executed..finally something original..even if the joke isnt..the graph is

  8. Amazing says:

Maybe putting a house on a bar graph to illustrate that something has “gone through the roof” has been done before… but it’s the first time I’ve seen it, so… WIN! :D

  9. rilol says:

    Brilliant!!! :D

  10. Moo says:

    Oh, shut up.

  11. Quill says:

Do you people seriously just sit around and complain about how every graph submitted isn’t the most beautiful, hilarious, wonderful thing to grace the internet?

I think the joke is funny, and original. Just stop bitching and laugh.

  12. Alysha.DeShae says:

You know what tickles me the most about this comment? The fact that it doesn’t take into account that some parents (or people in general) will complain about anything regardless of whether it’s something they pay for. My parents, for example, have never paid for my cell phone and yet they still complain about how much my bill is.

    • Joec0ld says:

I haven’t lived at home for almost 4 years now and my mom still blindly complains about my bills.

      • Jess says:

I haven’t lived at home for over 10 years and my dad makes generalizations like, “I bet your phone costs a fortune, since you’re always on it. You should save yourself some money and hang up” blah blah blah. It doesn’t matter to him that it’s a company phone, and I don’t pay the bill. :P

  13. rach says:

    This is truly creative. :-D

  14. rach says:

The only one complaining is YOU. But you just loooove to rain on everyone’s parade. That’s why you probably don’t have friends.

    • 1234 says:

Can everyone just STOP complaining about this graph and/or what it is about?!
Seriously, this graph is funny, and if you want to complain go to a different site.
And the graph is already made and up, so will arguing change it?

  15. paulWTAMU says:

    Big win :)

  16. Dfrtbx says:

    hehehe, pun

  17. Yosh says:

Kudos, graphmaker. Not sure if it’s original graph-wise or content-wise. But, the execution got a slight chuckle from me.

Your parents ought to check into pay-as-you-go phones or a capped plan. Or dropping text and data and just go to a voice plan.

  18. Eddy says:

Yeah, I think a lot of the humor of graphjam is repackaging things we’ve heard before in original and exciting ways. This is actually adorable.

  19. LightDisciple says:

That’s a very clever way of expressing “through the roof.” Good job, even if people want to complain about it.

  20. Chuck says:

My first thought was along the lines of: Your parents pay for you to have a cell phone and you can’t even use it responsibly?

    • Andrea says:

And your second thought was… “It’s okay though because the graph isn’t necessarily autobiographical”? Even if it is, so what? Folks can stop paying for their kids’ phones anytime they want.

      • joeschmoe says:

And his third thought was “Why am I spending so much time thinking about this instead of going out and doing something productive with my life?”

        • Andrea says:

Aww, that’s a bit harsh, considering we’re here too :)

        • pfft says:

And his fourth thought was “I suppose I’ll go and get a sense of humor and THEN join the lovely folks at graphjam. That way, when I comment, I won’t sound like such an old man that can’t appreciate some kid’s graph for what it is.”

  21. alan says:

i really like this graph, its funny and original

besides, its the first i’ve seen that uses ms paint and done well

  22. I lose says:

Of course, in every graph that wins there HAS to be an asshole who would bitch about anything.

Go crawl back in your hole.

  23. Zephr says:

The visual pun is clever, and should be really funny. I can’t help but think that the poster probably has entitlement issues every time I look at it though. That sadly ruins the joke for me. Great, now I feel old.

    • Yosh says:

Why do you say entitlement issues? Parents overreact to these things all the time. The gas bill can be $200 (from running the heat at 75 all winter) and the cell phone bill $5 over what it was last month (basic plan being ~$30) and they would still complain that the cell phone bill is through the roof.

    • Andrea says:

Also, read the post made 45 minutes before yours. You win at stating an opinion without being a prick, though :)

  24. Ash says:

Clever little graph. One of the best that’s been submitted in recent memory. :)

  25. mahher says:

I don’t understand why parents even give their kid cell phones. When I have kids, the only way they’re getting a cell phone is if they can pay for it themselves.

  26. Bronwyn says:

Stephen, it’s funny. Don’t worry about the whiners, they’ll always be there regardless of what the actual circumstances are surrounding your lol. Just know that you’ve made some people smile today! :)

  27. MLD says:

    O_O sense of humor fail

  28. MLD says:

Your comment here is win except it’s all intents and purposes, not intensive :)

  29. Meh says:

I give you points for creativity.

  30. T-rav says:

    clever!

  31. FluffySolo says:

It’d be even funnier if the cell bill beat the mortgage, too. But it’s still pretty funny as is.

  32. Brian says:

This is the funniest graph I have ever seen.

  33. Dave says:

    LOLOLOLOL.

First graph I actually laughed at for a really really long long time.

  34. joeschmoe says:

    calm down

  35. Monolyth says:

    I have a new favorite.

  36. Kevin S says:

This… this should get an award! Well done!

  37. Sean says:

One of the best I’ve seen on this site.

  38. pfft says:

Whatever, I thought it was funny. Sorry I called you a kid up there, lol…

    Welcome to gj!

  39. supercat dave says:

    FTW

  40. Zoltan says:

tHATS TRUE for me (caps lock sry), i has an iphone

  41. slythwolf says:

You’re not responsible enough to have a cell phone until you’re responsible enough to pay for it yourself so your parents don’t have to.

    • stubert says:

it’s not a gun, dude. it’s a phone. how much responsibility do you think it takes to own and operate?

  42. BOBITA says:

    100th!!!

  43. BOBITA says:

But they use electricity, heating, and insurance a lot more than I do. They always have the house at literally 80 degrees and then complain that I run up the phone bill and have the refrigerator open to cool down! Seriously dude, get a life that doesn’t involve yelling at kids for being unhappy at not having rights promised by the constitution( freedom of speech/opinion, religion, etc) :)

  44. ALiencubster says:

mehehehe.. The graph made me chuckle.. For the first time in quite a while, on GJ.. Great Job!

  45. Frank says:

First laugh out loud funny graphjam I’ve seen in a while.

  46. Thiago says:

    LMFAOO!!!! Epic WIN!!!

  47. musiCat85 says:

Why are people so mean on this website?? Geez!

I thought this graph was really cute and creative! The graphic was much better than if he had typed “through the roof” on the side of the graph. I give it a vote of 5. :)

  48. Rainman says:

the funny (scary) thing is that this graph is accurate for a LOT of 14-21 year old girls. what’s insurance for 2 cars and house? lets hope it’s not more than $300.. i’ve seen cell bills in the $2000 range

  49. colBoh says:

I LLOL’ed (Literally Laughed Out Loud)

  50. Kelsey Waters says:

    that sure made me giggle
