FIRST!!!!!! BITCHES!!!!one!!!1111eleven!!!!!
But you are a bit late concering Christmas, Santa.
Fail.
Yeah, I see your point there. Obviously graphs have a serious impact on someone’s ability to write code.
lol
If they are bragging about Web 2.0, I would say that it directly affects their actual ability.
No exactly. I mean web 2.0 is all about graphing the internet, so that everything on a page is just a pretty histogram or pie chart. This directly relates to all hist skills as a computer person.
Are you, by chance, one of this friends or family?
c’mon now
web2.0 is about looking pretty, this graph obviously didn’t come from a web2.0-er
this graph is totally “awsome”
What the hell? Web 2.0 is about user produced content (facebook, blogs, youtube, this site, etc.) in contrast to the traditional company websites, etc…
Coding an engine for such a project is totally different from either having the idea for the specific project or from being the graphics designer.
I’m glad this guy didn’t put his Microsoft Excel skills on there…
I’m glad there’s only 1 one of you in the entire world
I’m glad I get to eat steak tonight.
I’m glad I didn’t get staked tonight.
I’m glad I’m getting cake tonight.
the cake is a lie.
C-C-C-C-Combo Breaker!!
YOU DAMN KIDS! GO BACK TO REDDIT!
Shut up, digg bummer…
I wonder how much smaller these comment boxes will go
at least this small
O RLY?!
YA… RLY!
NO WAI!
OH SHI~
yo
I just wanted to added to the nonsense.
getting smaller
I absolutely agree with the point of this graph.
author should have probably added a bar for “figuring out printing problems”. So much of computer support time is spent answering the question “why can’t I get this to print the way I want”.
i giggled
no one ever giggles. this is the intertubes. you lol, jackass.
Win
I don’t get it. He doesn’t have the skills and his friends and family don’t care? Except of course for the Windows XP and drivers skill, which all his friends and his entire family cares about. Someone help me out with this graph.
The only one of the skills that is important to most idiot friend/family is the basic operation stuff. because people are stupid. the end
Graph reading fail. Though I think the title should say, “what my friends and family think about them
Ubuntu and OS X only here.
You want Windows? No you don’t.
….you do?
You’re looking for someone else. I don’t like brain damage.
OS X is for people who don’t like to think.
It is for people who like the computer to make decisions for them.
Now who is brain dead?
oh, snap.
osx has a unix-based micro kernel that mops the floor with both ubuntu and windows’ kernel. the window manager, cocoa is superior in many ways too
OS X is not a micro kernel. It is actually a hybrid kernel like Windows.
As for performance, Apple controls the hardware too. This helps their performance greatly, especially since they control the drivers, the biggest software issue of any OS currently.
The window manager in OS X has some major issues, mainly with the dock, and how one closes the windows. There are major issues with it in terms of mouse snapping that cause massive inefficiency in day to day use. Apple designers might know how to make it look snazzy, but the interface lacks research into things like ergonomics and Fitt’s Law.
OS X is nice, but get the facts straight before talking about it, or you will make it look bad.
Your generalization is pretty lame, just like complaining about Windows without any valid reason is too.
I think one of the reasons why people don’t like dealing with Windows is because it does often have more “support costs” that are security oriented, but you could also make the argument that that Windows is more for “brain-dead” people who don’t want to think, i.e. they grew up on windows and never want to learn about the pasture on the other side of the fence.
Let’s not pretend that any given OS doesn’t have its problems/limitations etc. Some OSes just don’t sit well with people, and they have their reasons, I rarely come across someone with ZERO experience with Windows since it’s 90%+ of installed PCs.
I learnt the pasture on the other side and it’s cold hard made of aluminum and sucks ass.
Different operating systems are better for different things (uses these 3 and more).
Agreed.
OBSD – Security
FBSD – Speed and flexibility
Gentoo – Hardcore linux users who know what they want
Ubuntu – Linux n00bs who don’t know what a cron is, or how to script anything
OS X – People who lack knowledge of how to really install anything
Windows – people who want their hardware to be as short lived as possible
oh please, just because Gentoo makes you compile everything doesn’t mean it’s somehow better then other Linux distro’s…. it’s step up from rpm distros, and that’s about it….. and you forgot to list NBSD, it’s supposed to support the widest range of hardware in the POSIX world….
Using mac is like getting on an airoplane, that is nice and white, but you don’t know where you going but you’re constantly assured “YOU’LL LIKE WE’RE GOING, NO YOU DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE!!”
Windows is like the airline industry today, most of the time okay, but sometimes the inflight entertainment sucks, sometimes you get someone fat sitting next to you, and sometimes the airline falls out of the sky, but provided the USERS are good enough, you’ll land safely, but most of the time you’ll get where you need to go, and thats all thats needed.
I think theres a graph somewhere on here that elegantly sums up the whole OS argument…
Yeah this argument is a couple of graphs too late.
Dirty Little Secret: All major operating systems work fine 95% of the time, work in an irritating way 4% of the time and make you want to start a frenzied killing spree 1% of the time. They’re all the same.
how the hell do you take the almost flawless stability and performance of Debian and get Ubuntu?
That’s what my family would think. If they knew what 1337 haxxor meant
I Liek Wine. I Liek milk.
You can use Wine with linux to emulate windows. I play heros 3 all the time on linux by emulating windows and old dos games. Like star trek judgment rights and out of this world. Wine is a program by the way and milk is just milk .
wine is not an emulator
I love it when people try to sound like they know what they’re talking about, and then end up with an epic fail.
Wine Is Not an Emulator. It’s a translation layer.
If that was true, they would have called it witl…
Wine originally started life more resembling an emulator. But Wine in it’s modern form is little more then some .dll’s ported to *nix and and chroot jail for Windows programs so that they think they are running from C:\Program Files rather then /home/isaac/.wine/drives/c:/Program Files…. now, ReactOS is an emulator.
is “uber” a random English word that i have never heard of or was that there on accident or on purpose? for now, all i know is that “uber” is German for “over”…
English speaker misuse the german word
not true. über can be used to mean above, conceptually or literally. as in. Deutschland über alles. also, as noted below. used by Nietzsche as a superlative.
there are at least four English words (in the OED) with the prefix über. so I would say that it is a fair construction to add it to other words to create new English words. agglutination. it’s how new words get created.
Yes, it sounds über-retarded
“uber” as a prefix in English has been in use for a few decades.
Language is always changing.
Let me be the first to welcome you to the 21st century.
comes from the term ubermensch, a neitzschian concept of a super-man. The term was co-oped to mean anything that was a superlative example of its genre.
for example:
My laptop bag is totally uber.
Uber has been a colloquial word in the English lexicon for at least a decade, and I’m sure you’re aware of that. I recommend you see a proctologist about removing that stick from your ass.
Uber-chart! So true…
“Web 2.0 engine”, huh? Amazing!
I would probably blame you of hax too since I failed to install windows XP into my laptop last week after finally getting fed up with vista..-sighs-
