I am friends with a child advocate agency. The laws are REALLY clear, subjecting a minor to sexual images under the age of 17 is a felony. You could actually call Child protective Services IN the theater and tell them what they are exposing these children to. "R" is RESTRICTED, no one under the age of 17 without and adult, but I am pretty sure it IS abuse bring a child to a movie filled with frightening or sexual images. I would call and ask personally. I have 3 kids, and I am careful about what movies they are allowed to watch. Some things are neither fit for children OR adults. Saw is nothing but torturing people for 2 hrs, watchmen is horribly violent, and sex scenes for children is abuse. No different than opening a porno mag to a 4 year old and being a molester.I unfortunately have met people who were exposed WAY to young themselves to have an understanding that what they are doing to their children constitutes abuse.Abused people abuse.

If a person is too stupid to understand the rating labels on movies, they shouldn't be allowed to raise a child. :| Not only does the child's screaming annoy other moviegoers, but the poor kids!

Just damn. Why can't we report people taking their kids into ultra-violent movies as abusers? If I were working that ticket booth, I would have refused to sell that woman the tickets to Watchmen even if it meant losing my job. I mean, I enjoyed Watchmen, but there were parts in it that even made my jaw drop, and I'm pretty desensitized.

Seriously, people. It's not cool. Even if they are a tiny baby and don't know what's going on, the very loud noise and flashing light is going to TERRIFY them. I'd go so far to say that bringing an small child into a movie like Watchmen is cruelty. I mean, I'm a 21 year old art student, and even I winced at the amputations in that one.

Old graph is old, but when I went to the theater to see Watchmen there was a woman sitting with her kid who had to be about four, five years old. When Dr. Manhattan is blowing up Vietcong, the kid starts going, "Mommy, lets go home now, Mommy. Please? I don't like this movie, let's go home Mommy." Her response was to turn and loudly "Shhhh!" The kid. I was a hair's breadth away from asking the kid if he'd like to wait in the lobby for Mommy to finish watching the movie that was obviously greatly disturbing him.

"Passion of the Christ."

A full theater. A dozen little babies. Three dozen kids between 3-8. A bunching of fvcking stupid parents! Do they not fvcking realize that just because a movie is about Jesus does NOT make it automatically appropriate for their kids?? That movie really should have been rated NC-17. It was every bit as violent as the Unrated versions of the Saw films, and all four Saw films originally got NC-17.

And yet, because Christians opt to be so blind (sorry to the few of you who aren't), it was the very first R-rated movie my parents ever let me see. At 13. Oddly enough, it was actually far less violent than I expected. Not knowing that a film could get an NC-17 for violence at the time, I went in expecting the worst. And so I came out saying, "Hmm, that wasn't as violent as I was expecting." Rewatching it 5 years later, when I had a proper perspective on the ratings system, corrected me on that opinion.

Some couple decided to take their young son to see the Watchmen. It was okay that a naked blue guy occupied the screen, but it was horribly wrong when the sex scene started. They sat through it, then decided to take the little boy out. Odd...

I think we all probably have seen a movie when we were too young (for me it was terminator but it was my own fault lol) But this may sound stupid but films seem to be more gory nowadays. Maybe its a CGI thing but i cant think of anything like saw that was around with i was younger. (im only 22 so im not on about too long ago) Kill bill is a strange thing to let a preschool child see, the same with childs play but if say the children were round about 10 then childs play may not be too bad a thing to see. I dont think its too bad a film but some may see childs play as worse than films that i think are really bad. People wonder why kids are desensitised to gore and violence and its always blamed on video games. Maybe its time to start pointing the finger in another direction.

People are incredibly stupid. There are three year old kids in my mom's preschool class who have seen Freakin' Child's Play. Oh, and Kill Bill, another family favorite. The more I see people like this, the more I want to lobby for the felony of "petty assault" or "petty murder" to be introduced into our legal code.

I have found the best time to see a movie is when the theater opens or the earliest afternoon show during a normal week day. There's generally nobody around. That's because most everyone is working, with the inclusion of me. :( So I'm relegated to going to see "The Dark Knight" in IMAX (which I drove three hours and crossed state lines to see because it was the nearest theater with the re-release in this format) in back of a child who could have been no more than two months old while his mother nurses him throughout what seemed like the entire movie, even though there were about a thousand empty seats nowhere near me (I was there first, dammit!). Can I cram any more words into one sentence in my rant, you may ask? No, I cannot. My point is that the graph was spot on.

That’s because most everyone is working, with the inclusion of me. So I’m relegated to going to see “The Dark Knight” in IMAX (which I drove three hours and crossed state lines to see because it was the nearest theater with the re-release in this format) in back of a child who could have been no more than two months old while his mother nurses him throughout what seemed like the entire movie, even though there were about a thousand empty seats nowhere near me (I was there first, dammit!). Can I cram any more words into one sentence in my rant, you may ask? No, I cannot. My point is that the graph was spot on.

It also involves sterilization by coercion and manipulation. Look up Margaret Sanger (founder of Planned Parenthood) and blackgenocide.org. The organization was created to keep "undesirables" from procreating and its still doing that today.

i would rather my kids saw niether. It a bit of a sad state of affairs if violence is more acceptable than nudity. The example you have made tho about the hobos then in that case if i had to choose it would be the fight because someone shaking a wang at anyone is worrying and a bit odd lol however in watchmen he is niether waving it nor is it erect (which is probably the NC-17 rule )

Also quick question, is NC-17 a higher (ie more graphic film) rating that an R, im a bit confused on this point cuase i thought R was 21.

I used to think this was only my bad luck. lol, almost every movie I've ever one to see had at least one infant crying at some point of the showing.

The worst of which did not involve an infant, but a couple 4-6 year olds at a very late night showing. Screaming non stop, and as I later discovered - not even in my theater. But enough to disrupt a row of three-four theaters. Their voice projection and lungs were impressive. A friend complained to staff, and we waited for staff to kick these folks out.

Finally, I got fed up waiting with my too kind and patient buddies. I wanted my cash back. Over a half hour of he movie was ruined, as you couldn't make out the dialogue. I went to get my money back. The woman who was angrily waiting for compensation in front of me, in a line of at least 30 people at that point. Was even more pissed because she not only paid for her tickets and food, but a $30 sitter. It was a rare outing for her, and she had also wanted a "child free night" with movies ending at 1:30 in the morning, that is what one would assume they would get. It was a rare outing for me too. After that point I rarely went to the theater. As I understood from that point on, they are not proactive enough to boot out disruptive people on their own, but rather "compensate" you *if you complain* with a free ticket for a later date. Instead I enjoy movies in my own home. ahhh peace and silence at last.

Eugenics involves forced sterilization. Planned Parenthood offers voluntary services to those who *want* sterilization, reliable birth control, or an abortion.

Brilliant graph, BTW.

Would you rather your kid see two hobos fighting or two hobos shaking their wangers at your kid? Which would be easier to explain?

Sterilization is not a good idea lol. Just maybe we should look at the rating in a film and not just the bit that says it was based on a comic book. Maybe also the bit on the ad that says "contains bloody violence, sex and nudity" or something like that :).

Ive got to stop commenting on this subject :S

why would you take a kid to a film with a rating like what Watchmen had tho.I know that parents and gaurdians have the right to make up their own minds about what films their charges see but i wouldnt have taken my 15 year old brohter to see watchmen. As far as i remember and 18 rating as it is in Britain means no one under 18 no way no how.And its 18 for a reason Im not sure how USA film ratings work so im not gonna comment on that and make and idiot of myself. As far as i was led to believe by IMDB reviews i think the rating in America gives people the choice to bring kids in again plz correct me on this.
As for the nudity me and my friends (some of us who have read watchmen) just accepted it as part of the charactor. the gore seemed a little over the top and the sex scene (we all know the one) that was a bit crazy.

That's the sentiment behind Eugenics and the purpose behind Planned Parenthood. To sterilize the "defectives" and undesirables (including racial minorities) and keep them from producing offspring who would be a burden on society. It was also seen as a way of purifying the human race. Just sayin'.

Haha, I couldn't agree more.
It's hard for me to concentrate on my worship/asking for forgiveness/etc when someone's baby is SCREECHING at the top of its lungs.
This always seems to happen in the middle of the very serious part of the servie, of course.

This happened when I saw the Spiderman movie with Venom in it - 3 I think it was. Anyway (forgive my ignorance) we were at an 11:30 showing, and there was a two year old sitting behind me! Aside from obvious sex and violence in other movies, to a two year old little girl, the Venom character can be really scary. There was a point when Venom came out and opened his mouth really wide, screaming and showing his pointy teeth, and that poor child was screaming and crying because it scared her so bad!!! I was so pissed because for one - I hate that parents can't put their kids first and hire a babysitter to spare the rest of us that paid to quietly watch a movie and for two - how effed up is it that the kid was exposed to that? This wasn't a ten year old or whatever, she couldn't have been more than TWO! I was so pissed that she was scared out of her wits well past her bedtime when she should have been home sleeping like she should have.
