Actually, I’m less happy with mine. The deeper we go into recession, the more my company has decided it can get away with in the way of imposing bs rules and cutting benefits for employees. But I can’t tell them to shove it because, sadly, I need this job and can’t find another.

i find myself in the extremely lucky situation that so long as the company is in business, they will need my mother. and so long as they need her, and don’t want to piss her off, they will keep me. (lucky for them, i’m the best worker they’ve got in my department.)

I used to just about cry when I was called in to work extra shifts. I’m the only female boilermaker at the nuclear shipyard here, and I guess I’m part of some ‘gender/job/wage/hours equality politically-correct govmnt contractor’ thing. And I’m tiny, so they call me in for tight jobs *seriously tempted to gain 50 lbs* It’s too cold or too hot, stinky, metal shavings and burns, definitely not a ‘feminine mystique’ kind of job. Well, I didn’t know how spoiled I was until I was called in two hours after my 10 hour shift ended, and demanded to know why this had happened three times in a week. Oh, because 48 of my co-workers lost thier jobs. I’m whistlin while I work now! *and singing loudly and off-key*
