  1. DaveFox says:

I can neither confirm nor deny the accuracy of this graph.

  2. SigSauer says:

iTunes has a ton of my money.

  3. Jono says:

I dont use any of those things. All of my music either comes from blogs or the Pirate Bay.

    • Kamokazi says:

Clearly, you fail to understand the definition of “Other Source”

      • penguin_man says:

And neither do you. Other sources should be way bigger, maybe limewire and other sources should be switched, or just replace limewire with thepiratebay.

        • The L says:

The whole point of the graph is to show that the average music junkie gets most of his/her music off P2P programs like Limewire.

Granted, I think “other sources” should say “other legitimate sources” (CD’s, rhapsody, Napster, etc.), and limewire should say “Peer-to-Peer programs” or “Piracy,” but otherwise, it’s a pretty good graph.

        • Tray Dawg says:

          “You do this.”
          “Neither do you.”

          Grammar fail.

    • Abr says:

And obviously announcing to the world you use Pirate Bay isn’t going to be a confession in the event of lawsuits. Good job on the discreet part

  4. Duck says:

Limewire? Isn’t that just as dead as napster?

Bittorrent is the way to go nowadays

    • Squids says:

I’ve done some research, and people really do still use Limewire a lot for music. People also get well known viruses that have had fixes available for months. I don’t get it either.

    • Kim says:

I work in a call center for mp3s and I’d say about 80% of the calls I get about them when they malfunction is that they got them from Limewire. Fortunately for THEM, *where* they get the songs that malfunction their mp3 player doesn’t void their warranty… :p

  5. vikingwarbrides says:

you forgot frostwire. Limewire’s full of virus and porn.

  6. Crok says:

    Strong DC++ for me.

  7. Port says:

Was this chart made in 2002, when Limewire was relevant?

    • pois. says:

i had the same exact thought.

    • Scott says:

When is the last time you all used Limewire? If you stop downloading those EXE’s labeled “HOT CELEBZ NAKEDZ!!! REAL!!11!! NOT FAKE!!! (I SWEAR!!1!)” then you are very unlikely to ever get a virus, and there is a lot of real music out there still. You just have to be smarter than those trying to get you.

      • Ken says:

If I want a single track and not an entire album, I’ll still use Limewire. You just have to be smart about things. Preview the songs as they download, if they don’t play, cancel the download and try again. If they’re .exe files, they’re viruses and you don’t even begin to download them. Simple.

        • penguin_man says:

I like getting the whole album, plus there’s less chance that it will have a virus embedded in it. I rather get music from a source that has reviews on the file so you can see all the little kids scream “VIRUS VIRUS” if there is one.

  8. Dex says:

I rip them from youtube. Muhahahahahahaha

  9. Snickers says:

    Limewire? Really?
    Blech.

  10. Hombretonals says:

mp3zr.com/ is a pretty resource, FrostWire doesn’t have much anymore.

  11. fubuki says:

Also missing from this chart: Audiogalaxy, Grokster, Kazaa, iMesh, and Morpheus, all of which are equally as relevant as LimeWire.

  12. Markq says:

I use Amazon.com. Stealing music is for poor college students and people who never made it through school. See, when you grow up and get an education, you can get a good paying job and actually afford to pay for music.

    • Dex says:

      What a burn… wait, I don’t care?

    • fubuki says:

And we all live in our mom’s basement too, right?

    • the_original_shortright says:

i graduated college. i have an education. i have a “good” paying job. i *can* afford to pay for music, but i don’t *want* to. i prefer to support my shoe buying habit so i download my music.
      got a problem with it?

    • Jenni says:

I am a poor college student. So Its ok for me to steal music?

    • no-one says:

I finished school… I can afford to buy CD’s but why pay huge amounts for CD’s, i’m saying 20 – 30 dollars (New Zealand Dollars), on a CD for JUST ONE SONG… and when you don’t have a credit card it makes things a little difficult to buy things online…

      So I on occasion… not every day… use Limewire…

Though I must admit… it has gone down in popularity so when you search 80% of what you find are in fact virus’s… So my use of it has definately decreased…

  13. dddevin says:

Change that to just isohunt.com and soulseek and it’d fit me to a T. Really though, you’re just begging to get ripped off by buying music with any kind of DRM.

  14. FacialTurd says:

It’s not a case of affording. It’s simply because I don’t feel music is worth what is charged for it. Especially when someone in the US pays half of what I would have to.

  15. Sandgirl says:

    lol.. accurate… :P
although I do buy cds if I like the music…

  16. Marcos says:

It’s very stupid to buy music when you can get songs in seconds from Ares. Here it is very popular.

  17. forge says:

    Good God no; LimeWire sucks.

    Usenet, baybee.

  18. Ferdbags says:

    No…. just… no

  19. Num Numz says:

Maybe that whole Limewire section should just be the “illegaly” category

  20. Terry says:

I use Audacity to copy it from YouTube.

  21. angrycat says:

i buy CD’s and use Zune marketplace. LimeWire fails.

  22. ยฃcake says:

I am in the green, with occasional blue. Never heard of IsoHunt, and limewire is scheisse.

  23. LMAOman says:

Soulseek has 100% less fake files and viruses than Limewire. Torrents work nicely too.

  24. bri-la says:

the only place i’ve ever gotten music other than itunes is the public library.

  25. Word says:

Stealing music is for losers. Stealing movies is where it’s at.

  26. Qwerty says:

Stealing music is easy. Try getting a quality copy of a movie before it hits theaters. Now that’s skill

  27. satchfan15 says:

No no, you guys have got it all wrong… MP3Sale.ru is what I use. It’s in euros, but waay cheap. Plus there’s no viruses like Lime**** has.

  28. TacoSexinz says:

Limewire? Pshhh. isoHunt and Mininova, bitches. =P

  29. Guess Again says:

    limewire? really? WTF…
    f-ing newbs…

  30. snokful says:

eMule is also very useful for the occasional hard-to-find RAR’d album… it’s usually too slow to bother for commonly available files but has a GREAT file selection.

  31. lame says:

who the hell still uses limewire…what the hell?

    Torrents?

    Is it 1999?

  32. Points Out The Obvious says:

What about iPods filled entirely with music from Gendou?

  33. Brod says:

I don’t know many people who use limewire… Illegal downloads would fit better into the red zone

  34. V says:

    Limewire? Srsly? Lol…..

    Mininova<3Downloads.nl<3

  35. TJM says:

Limewire? Who on earth uses Limewire? There isn’t a single real audio file on Limewire – it’s all porno fakes, viruses, or trojans.

Real stuff is on Bittorrent (along with easily spotted RAR fakes).

  36. justin says:

lol the only reason people get viruses on limewire is because they download the files that look like this:

    “Greatest Hits”
    “song”
    “(club mix)”
“sexy girl has shaking orgasm in from of webcam”

yea if you download any of those your bound to get a virus!

  37. it says:

the isohut section should be biger.

  38. grncdr says:

Where People’s Music Really Comes From? Musicians 100%

CD’s are a joke, and iTunes is worse, but even the most passionate musicians aren’t going to fill your iPods for free. Ever notice how most new music sounds like recycled crap?

  39. Kennyge says:

I just started reading this and I have to say, you r all dumbasses.
Of course millions of people still use Limeire for the fact they dont want to pay and not to mention the speed compared to bittorrent.
    CASE CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  40. geez says:

    Spotify FTW!

  41. jameskattz says:

    u forgot torrents

  42. ramly burgerz says:

For YouTube, DVD VideoSoft YouTube to MP3. Now I download instead of using that.
