Another fun side note: in formal logic, when you have an “either – or” situation (as you do in your post), it is commonly referred to as an “exclusive or”, and therefore the statement can only be considered true when one proposition is true and the other false.

Overlap in Venn diagrams doesn’t actually mean anything. In actual formal logic, we put marks in particular areas — either an X to indicate that something actually does exist there or shading to indicate nothing exists there. I don’t think I’ve seen a single “Venn diagram” on this site that actually used the original logical function, so depending on your interpretation, either everyone is wrong or* people are sufficiently capable of comprehending this “vernacular” use that it works for the joke.

*Fun side note: in formal logic, given an “or” between two propositions, it is possible for both of them to be true and still consider the statement as a whole true.
