second.
aww, I was about to make this chart almost exactly the other day…. dang, I gotta get going sooner next time
Guilty as charged. And on many occasions. That 5:30 a.m. double alarm? Yeah, that was me. Both cars at once – that takes mad skillz.
Oh, man, you forgot the bus that goes by the parked car a t 5:00 AM! EVERY DAY!
Where’s the space for the guy who activates the alarm so he can find his car in the parking lot?
And I think that the space for “actual attempted theft” is far too big, at least in my area. But good graph, Dwight. Made me smile.
Agreed. “Car location in parking lot” needs to be on there.
And don’t forget “Leaning against car!”
You forgot the one for huge claps of thunder that set off every alarm in a radius of 5 blocks.
+1
Fourth of july’s a killer.
I’ll admit it.
But I still want to find the guy who had the brilliant idea of putting a damn button on your damn keys that makes you car flash and honk when you put them in your pocket…
You also forgot the one for fireworks with sonic BOOM!
HAHAHAHAHAHA SOOO TRUE
No way! A car alarm was set off due to owner stupidity on my way home. About 5 minutes before I saw this.
My favorite running joke is to scream, “My god, someone call the police” each and every time some d-bag’s car alarm goes off. Talk about crying wolf…
EXACTLY!!! I had a neighbor who set his alarm off every time he worked on his car. I hated that guy!
And you also forgot that drunk who bumps into things in the middle of the night. Though, to be fair, I haven’t seen him in a while.
Totally forgot “idiot driving past with bass turned up on stereo” and “pedestrian brushes rear bumper with trouser leg while dashing across street to deli.”
“Pedestrian brushes rear bumper with trouser leg while dashing across street to deli” falls under Owner Stupidity for having the freaking alarm set to whisper-sensitive!
“Pedestrian brushes rear bumper with trouser leg while dashing across street to deli” is an awsome name for a rock band.
I walked past a car and wasn’t any nearer than 12 inches and the f*’n thing went off. Almost had to go home to change my pants!
There’s also “Piano falling off a tall building.” According to every single commercial I’ve seen, EVER, any object that falls off a tall building lands on a car and sets off the alarm. That has to count for something on the graph.
You forgot wind.
Oh and leaf falling from a tree 10 meters away from actual car
Car dealership sensitive alarm chain reactions.
Every other time we drive by a car dealership, they’re all going off.
Also:
Earthquakes. Or, the floor of the parking garage shaking when another car drives by. Trains. If your assigned parking spot at the apartment complex is 50 feet from the train tracks, disconnect the damn alarm.
Motorcycle engines. Or, any vehicle whose owner doesn’t believe in mufflers.
What we’re all missing here is that this graph was created by Dwight Schrute of Schrute’s beet farm!
Dwight needs to stop wasting time. Get back to work.
That’s what she said!
Seriously Dwight, back to work!
Yeah, probably a good thing I don’t have a car alarm…backed my car into a wall in a parking garage today trying to let another car get by. Dang DC parking garages. Too freakin small, and I drive a Focus…not even a large car.

you missed Firecrackers/Fireworks.
You forgot environmental – it’s really fun when branches or heavy leaves fall on them and make them go off, or a critter jumps up onto it and sets it off.
Also of note, the vibrations of bass drums when a marching band walks through a parking lot can set off car alarms.
Or when the neighbor kids kick their soccer ball into the parked for the billionth time in one day….ugh.
