    FIRST! IM AN IDIOT!

  2. Sarcastik says:

So true. “Closer” by Ne-Yo, anyone?

  3. Yuval says:

    No no no.
This should be an increasing graph up to 5th time or so, then slowly decreasing.

    • LuckyBox01 says:

You are correct. There is a term that I learned about for this in psychology, but I forget what it is… if you know please email me. Thank you.

  4. Alaina says:

Ahh so true. Macarena, all of Celine Dions songs (especially the Titanic one) and Beyonce’s new singles…If I here “all the single ladies” one more time..

Except “dick in a box” Will NEVER get old. It gets funnier

  5. 216 says:

Coldplay must have paid a mint to play their crap.

  6. The L says:

This is the reason why I haven’t listened to “Top 40″ radio stations in years.

The good stuff is ignored, and the talentless hacks are played every half hour.

  7. LoZfan03 says:

The sixth entry should be “Hey There Delilah” at -20% or lower, amiright?

  8. ginamarie says:

that’s how i feel about that damn fergie song “big girls don’t cry.” i want to rip my hair out when i hear it! aaaaah! pisses me off just thinking about it! i hate it!

    • sean says:

I always just think of the song by the four seasons

      • The L says:

I did the same back when Madonna thought it would be a good idea to sing “American Pie” to a happy pop background.

And when Marilyn Manson butchered the 80’s hits “Personal Jesus,” “Sweet Dreams Are Made of These,” and “Tainted Love.”

In fact, the only recent cover I can think of that can hold a candle to the original was when Disturbed did “Land of Confusion.”

  9. jwdoke says:

I always referred to this as “Silent Lucidity Syndrome” (for all you fellow early ’90s metalheads out there…)

  10. Sprite101 says:

    Obvious graph is obvious.

    …and also not funny.

  11. lol says:

Truly good songs get better every time you hear them. If a song gets more annoying over time, then you’re either listening to it nonstop and/or you don’t like it as much as you thought.

    • The L says:

I beg to differ. Pearl Jam was pretty good. I still like their music and think the band is very talented.

But so many damn radio stations overplay Pearl Jam that I rarely listen to it anymore, because I can feel myself starting to get sick of it.

Some songs are simply more fun to have stuck in your head than others. That’s the difference between Three Days Grace and They Might Be Giants–no difference in talent, it’s just that TMBG is more fun and less weepy.

  12. Sarah says:

This happened to me with Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day. To this day, I still don’t like that song.

  13. cj says:

The perfect example of this was back in the day. Wind Beneath My Wings. Every no talent person on this earth sang it at some talent show or beauty pageant. OMG I hate that song. How about that Lee Greenwood song I don’t even want to mention it for fear that it will be stuck in my head the rest of the day.

    • thatotherguy says:

“God Bless the USA”? The song every small-town country station plays every freakin day at 12:00pm sharp?

      mwuahahaha

yeah, I change the station too…

  14. cj says:

well crap it’s stuck in my head anyway.

  15. Kringle says:

It should peak at the 3rd time, not the 1st!

A lot of the time you don’t instantly like a song, it’ll grow on you! And then it’ll drop off into major suckage…

  16. Dafrety says:

This is exactly how I feel about Duffy’s Mercy. That song was okay the first few times, but they keep using it on every damn commercial for everything. I can’t stand it anymore and I go into a murderous rage when I hear it now! OH NO IT’S ON AGAIN ARUGH!!

  17. Lyn says:

It’s even worse if you’re forced to sing it. I was in my high school choir, and I can’t stand a single one of the songs we had to sing there to this day. I recently heard one of them for the first time in about 8 years, and I still hate it with a passion. It kind of makes me wonder if the people who make these songs can stand them, either.

  18. NEOmusings says:

That’s how I feel about anything by Soulja Boy or Akon. The “Top 40″ station in these parts plays their music ALL THE TIME! Please, for the love of Rick Rubin and Grandmaster Flash, TURN IT OFF ALREADY!

  19. n8 says:

when i saw this graph my thoughts immediatly went to “love song.” by sara barieels
