…you mean a tsunami? A typhoon IS a hurricane…
actually if you are in a boat a tsunami will pass under you and you will not
notice it.
Uhm the reason a tsunami is so destructive is because it is raised up by the continental ridge. That is the reason why you do not see huge waves out at sea.

Actually, you do see big waves out at sea. You are correct, however, in saying that you do not see tsunamis at sea. Tsunamis are not big waves, but rather shock waves (usually from an earthquake) that are turned into huge walls of water when the seafloor suddenly rises (near the shoreline).

typhoon is just used on the west coast of the US
