no its not. the graph says one party is in power and we dont like what they are doing so we vote the other party into power. First congress then the president and then it all falls apart. Which is wrong. the democrats have controlled congress for 40 years while the president has been going back and forth.

republicans took over congress in the 1994 election there brainiac. And the stock market hit the lowest point it had hit since the great depression during carter’s 4 years in office … along with him not being able to rescue the iranian hostages, gas lines, and stagflation. Since that time the dow went up to 14,000 under a republican president and a republican congress. The democrats took over in 2007 and in 2008 the stock market crashes. If you think that this is how it works then you are obviously retarded because the democrats have had the control for decades straight and this graph insinuates that every 2 or 4 years theres a major shift. Which is wrong.

Vote 3rd party and fix this cycle. Find a candidate who actually supports your views! There are viable 3rd parties out there so become a TRUELY educated voter and look at ALL the options not just the ones that Fox or CNN choose to talk to.

This election doesn’t go with the whole “This is working! Let’s elect a Democratic President too!” thing, though. It’s more like “It isn’t working yet! Let’s elect as many Democrats as possible in both the Executive and Legislative branches!” (and for the record, I support that, as I think we’re at a point where we need to actually be able to get things done, and not have people blocking things for the sake of siding with their party.)

Actually, during the debacle that was the 60’s, the Great Society, which destroyed the black family and created a whole new generation of parasites on the system, the Carter years and stagflation and the Misery Index, the first law that allowed for buying of houses for people who couldn’t afford it, etc. The reason there was a recession in 2000 was the dot-com bubble burst.

But yeah, none of these goobers should be in power for long. I think all incumbents should be voted out and all laws should be erased and we should just start from scratch.

Not exactly – a Republican -> Democrat congressional (just House, actually – Senate never changed) shift in 1988 preceded a Republican -> Democrat Presidential shift in 1992. Then, a Democrat -> Republican congressional shift in 1996 preceded a Democrat -> Republican Presidential shift in 2000. Recently, a Republican -> Democratic congressional shift will likely precede a Republican -> Democratic Presidential shift in a few months.

Those years might be wrong, I’m going by memory as to when each session entered – but the preceding should be accurate, if not a little more or less advanced.
