win or fail yet to be determined

  9. s47 says:

I wonder how many GraphJam-reading Carries there are who date a Paul?

  10. sean says:

should have been a scatter plot

    • Shin0bi272 says:

ohh sorry I read that wrong… thought you said scatter SHOT… I was about to say no that comes before the proposal and after the discovery of the pregnancy.

  11. eric says:

I really hope this doesn’t end up as “PROPOSAL FAIL” on the fail blog.

good luck man, hope she says yeees!

    • J says:

Time to make it move. See below.

I hope I never have to resort to posting a proposal online.

    • Jim says:

My thoughts exactly! It would too much like the basketball game proposal fail except Paul probably wouldn’t get a hug and a beer from the mascot.

      • SnowLovingGal says:

I saw that and I was appalled! How cold of her to walk out on him like that! He is too good for her! She could at least have made it appear that she might say yes instead of just walking out on him. How humiliating for him! Poor man. I hope Paul and Carrie are good together and are happy!

        • Kyler says:

Meh. I sensed massive overcompensating in there.

        • Divided by zero says:

How do you think she felt about him putting her on the spot like that. I would not be surprised if there were hundreds of people in that stadium who shared your opinion, so she practically had no choice. I respect her for being true to herself and not succumbing to the pressure. However, don’t think for a second that I am so cold as to not feel any sympathy for him; having a girl say, “No,” to you when you propose sucks in all situations. I’m just saying, cut the chick some slack, kthxbai.

          • !null says:

The entire thing was actually staged. Apparently failed proposals are what pass for half-time entertainment.

If it were real though, really both parties were at fault.

  12. Paul says:

Thanks all for your support and kind words. She said No, but all is still well between us.
A BIG thanks to Emily and Graphjam staff for taking time out of their days to make this possible :) . You guys are amazing.

You can’t win them all, but here’s to trying!

  13. Trisha K. says:

Paul gets extra points for creativity!! Carrie, say yes, he’s a keeper!

  14. Person 2 says:

I hope she says, “Yes, but that is technically an improper use of a venn diagram.”

  15. Cass says:

Awww! That’s so sweet! Nerd love is so cute!

  16. Carrie says:

No, Paul… I’m shtuppin’ your brother.

  17. helen says:

    i wouldn’t have said yes to that…

    laziest

    proposal

    evar

  18. Cassidy says:

Sorry to hear she said no. :(

  19. Joolz says:

Awwwww!!! I can’t belieeeeve she said no!! Paul, you can find someone better ANYWAY who can truly APPRECIATE you!!!! She sounds like a draaaag!
You’re win, she’s fail. Don’t ever give up on giving cute, fun, interesting things – especially when you’re putting yourself on the line – it’s so good for you!!!

  20. Alaina says:

Paul i’ll marry you or we can have drinks and burn her pictures.

    ;)

  21. josephine says:

    How awesome!!! Say yeeees!!!!!!!

  22. Loren says:

    aww I wish… I love my nerd!

  23. ebaum says:

    *masturbates furiously*

  24. Neil says:

This was supposed to be funny? I mean, I don’t come here to read personal messages, you know?

Besides, this guy wasn’t even proposing marriage. According to the diagram, only *PART* of their lives would intersect. That’s not marriage. That’s dating once a week! No wonder she said no!

Can we get back to humor now?

    • JVCA says:

Get over yourself. There’s more to life than humour. Who cares that the graph was technically incorrect? It was a sweet idea, and it’s the thought that counts.

      Jerk.

Paul, I’m sorry she said no – you seem like a great guy. :) All the best for the future, hey?

    • Anna says:

I don’t know Neil, it seems that the humor stops with you.

    • ballandchain says:

“According to the diagram, only *PART* of their lives would intersect. That’s not marriage. ”

So, being married, according to you, is like being in jail, huh?

Take note, chicas. This guy is devoted!

    • Kyler says:

I think the purpose of this site is not to make you laugh, but rather to smile. I smiled when I saw this. No LOL, but a smile. And that’s good enough for me.

    • Beth says:

      Neil,

You’re being pathetic. Get a life. This guy is just being creative. Sorry if he ruined your Saturday night thrills on the internet.

      Seriously. Get a life.

    • Skif says:

Actually, the middle part of a Venn Diagram shows when those two things are together. This middle part is labeled “Will you marry me?”. So basically, Paul and Carrie get together, and he asks her to marry him.

  25. Oh my christ, that is the sweetest fing thing I’ve ever seen.

  26. Ahmed says:

    creative proposal idea
    you has it

  27. Bill says:

Sorry it didn’t work out. I’ve been there. I proposed and she accepted my money.

  28. Scaramouche says:

    I would’ve said yes.

  29. Psyklon says:

    marriage = EPIC DATING

  30. Pandora says:

    Sorry to hear that Paul.

    So creative, though. ((hugs))

  31. StarryEyed says:

Too bad she said no… cute idea for a proposal though!

  32. signe says:

aww how cute… i hate all happy people and think they should all be executed :) (oh not really but they piss me off)

  33. belle says:

So now that she said no, who’s going to make this into a marriage fail?

  34. Rajazel Tursatna @ Aetolia.com says:

    Paul,
    -
I’m sorry to hear she said no.
When I first saw this, I thought it
had to do with a show or movie or
something, and then I realized it was
a REAL proposal. I AM pleased to hear
that things are still well between the two
of you, it would be a shame if this caused
any turmoil between you. Perhaps in the
future, things may turn out well for you.
    -
I am in love with a woman who is having
a hard time loving me back. I lost her trust,
and I felt like I failed her… But I mean to make
things right between us again. The worst thing I
did was not keep my promise to see her. It took
a very long time for us to get where we are, and
now that we’re here…. She still loves me, I know it,
but it’s hard for her to say it. I hope my persistence
with her and our situation will prove to her how much
I really care. I’m dedicated to her, and I hope she can
see it. Here’s to love, Paul. You and I both need some
good luck, in nearly the same area. Take care, dude.

    - Rajazel

  35. YUZ FAGGITZHE says:

it’s too bad she said no, dude.
but hope things work out in the end.

  36. Zodi says:

It was totally cute. Shame she said no, but I would ask if that is negotiable and probably try to sort it out with a ring. :) Good luck Paul, hope she says yes one day.

  37. cyberbelum says:

This is the most pathetic thing I have ever seen. I understand people trying to do something different for getting married, but to make a graph? At least go to a baseball game and pay to have it announced on the screen if you aren’t smart enough to hack your girlfriends favorite video game. This is just plain pathetic.

    • cyberbelum says:

I should have read some of the other messages first. I’m not surprised she said no. If this is your idea of imagination, no wonder she said no.

    • 7CHP says:

I for one fail to see you encourage people to propose at a baseball game which is the epic fail of all proposals and did not like this one, a totally new way of doing things. Critique FAIL.

      Creative use of media WIN!

  38. Steven says:

Technically Paul’s Venn diagram is correct. A marriage is a holy UNION after all, and that’s what the graph shows.

    • staticmonkey says:

i don’t know why everyone keeps saying this is wrong. marriage is sharing your life with another person, not turning into them. you have to keep your own identity separate for a marriage to really work.

  39. !null says:

Man, no offence, but if you’re going propose, seriously, dress it up a bit! The graph does look boring as is.

  40. lilit says:

My parents were engaged and broke up several times before they finally did get married, and they’ve been together 48 years so far…we’re starting plans for their Golden Anniversary in 2010!

Best of luck to you, Paul and Carrie, for whatever will be the best outcome for you both. Thanks for sharing this with all of us! You both ROCK!!!

  41. I’m not Carrie… but thanks for showing interest in my secondary sexual characteristics!

  42. YUZ FAGGITZHE says:

    Hush, you haters.
    Those things are unoriginal.
    How many GraphJam proposals
    have you ever seen before?
    .
    .
    .
    .
    …………………………………..
    NONE.
    Paul, take care, bro.
    Raja, you take care, too.
    .
    Everyone else, SUCK NUTS.
    .
    .
    .
Except for you, lilit. You’re cool.

  43. bill says:

she said no because she’s been sleeping with your brother.

  44. deborahjune says:

I really think that it was a good way to propose. She can think about it and when she says YES she will really mean it. If she says No then he can move on and not be embarrassed.

  45. mamarosa says:

    No worries, Paul.

Next time make her ask you.

    Cheers.

  46. Nick L. says:

While this may not be original in the eyes of the Internets, to a normal person this could be perceived as creative. I wish the best to both Paul and Carrie.

  47. kenshin007 says:

ei dude, even she said no, you’re still cool. I’d say persistence pays. so I were the guy, I’ll think of another way. There’s so many ways. Good luck and God bless to that!

    cheers!

  48. Bloobeard says:

Okay, 5 bucks to the first person to propose in this comment thread.

  49. pablodedios says:

    no

  50. vervain says:

    LOLCat proposal = Yes
    Graphjam proposal = No

Conclusion: Cute kitties are more conducive to successful marriage proposals than Venn diagrams.

  51. Dapper Swindler says:

    Best Sven Diagram yet.

  52. Dave says:

    Paul got roflstomped.

  53. Paul's Older Brother says:

    Paul,

How many times have I told you, you really need to work a little harder at this romance thing? I mean.. a chart with two circles and two names? WHat about the families? What about a heart chart? What about some sparkle? Where’s the ring? Carrie said no because she knows that this is how you do EVERYTHING. A little bit of promise, but no follow through, man. You gotta put in the effort. Remember that big idea you had? The one that you didn’t follow through on? That you gave to me to play with because you were bored with it? ANd then got pissed when I made $500k selling it and didn’t give you any? You’re a smart guy, but you can do better than this. You know I love ya, bro. Just step up your game.

(okay, not actually Paul’s older bro or even related to Paul in any way, shape or form).

  54. Vanessa says:

    I WILL MARRY YOU PAUL!!1

  55. amandatheingenue says:

    That is sweet :)

  56. gilamonster71 says:

Dude. Do a screen-saver next. Don’t give up. Nerd rules!

  57. O_o... says:

Not to knock the guy for trying, but have any of you met them? I scrolled through this, and there are dozens of posts “Aww, you seem like a nice guy” “That bitch, she seems like trash.” (not actually quoting mind you.). Yet I wonder how many people know these two. Maybe Paul is really a dick, and maybe Carrie didn’t see herself marrying him, nerdie cheesy internet proposal or not.
To Paul (who might or might not be a dick, just an example, lol), have you and Carrie ever talked about getting married? I know sooo many guys who have been shot down because they never talked it over with their partner, just assumed its what the woman wanted to hear. A proposal should be a surprise, but shouldn’t be totally unexpected. (Unless, you know, you’re holding a pregnancy test, and the fall to your knees in shock kinda puts you in the right position…*ahem*)

    • Dapper Swindler says:

After 150+ posts in this thread, what do you think the chances are of your message getting through?

      • Alc says:

He’s right, though – the number of (mostly female-named) posters saying “aww what a lovely guy you are Paul, Carrie you must marry him!!!!!!!!” is kind of disturbing. You know nothing of either party outside of a graph on a website. Get a fucking grip.

      • LizinBinary says:

        Make a graph :P

  58. heydabop says:

I’m surprised there haven’t been more people saying they’re Carrie.

  59. james says:

commitment, your doing it right, best of luck

  60. Alex says:

    coolest thing ever!

  61. joe says:

    aww thats so sweet :)

  62. cinnamon8 says:

    Awwwwwwww!

  63. buggaboo says:

Hey guys and gals… I’ve had the SHITTIEST day ever, and reading all your posts just made the remainder of my work day a little more bearable.

  64. YUZ FAGGITZHE says:

    Heh. Anyone still reading this?

  65. Amanda says:

    Lame. Good answer, Carrie.

Sorry she said No but can you blame her? A proposal is supposed to be a special, private moment for 2 people. Not something that happens on the Internet for the whole damn world to see.

    • Andrea says:

Tell that to the people that propose at concerts/sporting events/restaurants.

If you’ve got a girl/guy dorky enough to share an enjoyability over this site and lulz are had all around, well, why the hell not?

      I’d have said yes….

    • Geekgirl says:

So is a marriage, but crazy bride-zillas won’t let the beginning of a marriage occur without a ridiculous amount of fanfare and planning and obsessiveness and as big a guest list as they can afford. Bells and whistles all around. They want ceremony and something memorable and something that gives everyone an opportunity to stop by and congratulate her. So, in my mind, I see nothing wrong with a guy (or a girl, seeing as this is the 21st century) taking the same public, bells-and-whistles approach to a proposal.

  66. buster says:

I feel sorry for all of the other Paul’s who have a girlfriend named Carrie. awkwardddddd!

unless of course she said yes and that’s what he wanted.

  67. sincostan says:

    Lies, damned lies and statistics.

Yes I am a mathematician. See if he had done an expression it wouldve worked. but – Paul…unlucky man.

    hey chicka bomp bomp

  68. Secret Man Toy says:

You promised you would leave him for me though!

  69. Bri says:

I hope she says yes! If my bf did this, I would! Let’s hope you don’t have to move this to failblog :(
