  1. Mike C says:

There are some graphs that are simple, and I just find them boring or stupid. Then there are graphs that are simple, and I consider them to be nigh-genius. This is one of the latter.

I’m trying to decide if the x and y axes should be switched, but I think it works either way. Regardless, excellent graph.

  2. Danyell says:

    OMG, yes!

If you still have damn punks on your lawn, it’s because you’re not shaking your fist hard enough!!

  3. Eddy says:

So does that mean very vigorous fist-shaking results in no punks or it only works if there are no punks?

    • Neil says:

yeah, i agree. it seems to be advocating *how much fist shaking* to do, which doesn’t make a lot of sense. Graph should be called “Number of punks on lawn based on fist-shaking” or something like that.

  4. Steroid says:

I think the x and y axes should be reversed.

  5. tom says:

another vote for “switch the x and y”
    ur using yr variablz wrong.

  6. chenry says:

it would make more sense to me if the fist-shaking were more vigorous as the number of punks increased.

    • casey says:

that’s because the x and y axes are reversed from what was intended. you know, it’s not just a nerd thing, it helps with comprehension as well.

  7. Void says:

    I like this graph tons.

  8. brittany says:

Yeah, seriously… what is it about people on this site not understanding independent and dependent variables??? It kills any bit of humor the graph may have had.

  9. lawlsam says:

I agree, switch the Axes! Axises? Axississies? Regardless, the number of punks is dependent upon the degree of vigorous-ity of said shaking fist.

  10. Jess says:

I thought this was funny, but I read it a different way. I thought a senile old man vigorously shaking his fist at no punks in his yard to be hilarious.

  11. Anthony says:

    …WAT!….

  12. Matt says:

Make it a bar chart. You can’t have a continuum of punks. Or is this a linear regression to interpolate the vigor of fist shaking required for numbers of punks not listed?

  13. !null says:

Chalk up another one for the “reverse the axes” vote. I totally read it the wrong way at first too. It really needs to be clearer, because if it was, it would be hilarious.

  14. Ninjah! says:

Oh, so it’s supposed to be that the more you shake your fist, the lesser punks you have on your yard – not that you need to shake your fist more if you have just a few punks on your yard? That makes more sense.

    Good chart idea though.

  15. SwissBee says:

Isn’t it that the more punk you have the less you shake your fist because you’re afraid of them being so many? Then when there’s less of them, you become braver and shake you fist more vigorously.
    Right?

  16. Mallory says:

    Uhm… Not funny.

  17. fciron says:

    Take them bowling!

Yes, I know but it’s so close.

  18. Lunchbox307 says:

Seriously… you young people are just the punks we old senile geezers are trying to rid our yards of!!! Don’t you get it? The more punks that exist on said yard, the more vigorous the fist-shaking needs to be. Period. There are NO reversed-axes options here. Young punks do not respect fist shaking unless it is vigorous.

    Now get off my lawn!

  19. erick says:

I also imagined the senile old man. I think that’s what the creator intended. Ha!

  20. eclipse says:

the punk axis should have “no punks” nearest the intersection and “lots of punks” furthest from the intersection.

    • mhm says:

No because then it would seem to say that no fist shakes results in no punks, and lots of fist shaking results in many punks. The graph is messing you up because the independent and dependent variables are out of place. :]

  21. Simon says:

    “Handfull”??
