i remember when they made the switch.
most fans were upset; because they were afraid from that point the music would change drastically.
and it did.

for better or for worse?
i can’t really say.
but they really aren’t the same jonas brothers i was an obscure fan of 2 and a half years ago

but truly, they are very dedicated young guys, just looking to promote wholesome music for kids. really- what’s so bad about that?
i don’t get why everyone is running around spewing out this crap that “they’re not real music”
at what point does something become music- and who are you of all people to dictate it?

I could point out that the Jonas Brothers first album tanked so bad they got kicked off their label. And then they got svengaliid by a record company into the cutesy shiny product that they are today (I mean have you seen the photos on the sleeve of their second album? It does not get any boy-bandier than that) And that the first song they had that got any attention was a cover of a Busted song, which was put on a huge movie and got lots of promotion. I mean, come on, hands up who has heard of Busted?

But seriously, I actually kind of like the Jonas Brothers. Even though I am way too old to admit that. They seem like sincere hardworking young men who take their responsibilities seriously and can laugh at themselves. I just think the hysteria that surrounds them is a product of marketing more than music.

That is the comment I am intending to make in the graph. Which I think is funny. Well funny enough to make the graph jam page. tee hee.

But, tell the thing about the marketing machine to the dozens of other artists Disney has been promoting who have TANKED with the same PR team…(which is all of them apart from “Hannah Montana”).

And though I find them gorgeous, I don’t think they are LITERALLY the best looking guys around. Not by a long shot. When you’re a good performer, it makes you better-looking.

They sell records because they are actually very good performers, charming as hell, and have been writing & working their asses off almost nonstop for the last 4 years to get where they are…they built a psycho YouTube fanbase in 2006…that’s why Disney bought ‘em, because the rest of their stable blew donkeys and had negligible followings. Disney needed them as much as they needed Disney.
