Not that funny IMO.
I’d say dogs are a 6 though…
I see that rodents are the very lowest. So it is true… they DON’T give a rat’s arse.
that was funnier than the graph
I beg to differ, I had two rats who were VERY affectionate. I had one who was mean as hell; it, oddly enough, depended on where I got them.
I had a pet rat and he was the greatest and most affectionate pet I’ve ever had… He would jump up onto my bed while I was doing homework (I would close my door and let him run around my room while I sat on my bed) and he would curl up in my lap… I miss him… He died a few years ago…
Rats can be very affectionate and are highly intelligent. Too bad they are so misunderstood..
Rats are the best, most mellow pets ever. Always glad to see you, just as happy to hang out by themselves and eat or sleep.
I have 2 rats…they’re my second pair.
My first pair died 2 months ago, one from a neurological disease, the other from
a tumor.
Rats are actually one of the smartest species on Earth, and really very cute. Unless
they have red eyes. And they’re VERY affectionate (especially if you have oats, Rice
Krispies, or peanut butter crackers on you.)
If you charted my pet rats’ affection levels, they’d look an awful lot like the cat one…
Considering that my 4 rats seem to always be hungy and always affectionate, I woud say they’re more like the dogs. It should be noted, though, that affection varies from rat to rat, and owner to owner. My little girl is always the biggest hit at our parties.
My rats are also very affectionate, hungry or not.
Fish, of course, are off the scale since they’d be negative.
Is that a play on words…?
Oh come on. Submitter has not met my rodent. Her graph would be like the cat’s.
EXACTLY! Or if there was flat, non-alcoholic beer in the proximity.
No, way. Rodents are more affectionate than reptiles! Reptiles just sit there and look kind of evil. I had a pet rat that would lean into my hand every time I put it next to her.
And then it would urinate on it
You don’t quite know your rats
Very rarely do the go outside their cage if properly trained.
In fact, you can litter train them.
Mine are more cuddly than my cat, regardless of the presence of food
Some one obviously doesn’t know much about rodents.
They would start out at three, and go to twelve come food time.
What about rabbits?
Rabbits are rodents
No, they’re not.
Exactly! They’re delicious!
Rabbits are part of a seperate group called lagamorpha.
Rabbits have two sets of incisors on the top and one on the bottom therefore not making them rodents.
As far as the graph is concerned, Rabbits would get the same function as reptiles.
Bats are bugs!
All this graph realy proves is that dogs are stupid.
I disagree on the rodent comment, my rat Fury is very affectionate! She like to cuddel and lick my ears!
Also my friends 2 rats have the greatest personalities, they love boobs, they crawl down her shirt all the time and snuggel inside her bra, it’s so cute
Yet when i do things like that its a criminal offence. Double standards or what? where can i get a rat costume?
Ahahaha you made my morning!
My cat comes to the door to greet me whether she’s hungry or not, and crawls into my lap to be cuddled. She’s at least a four.
Hmm…I’ve noticed that dogs, cats, rodents (except the dumber varieties), birds, and reptiles are all fond of me for reasons that are as yet unknown. :/
@Katt Well, duh. Who doesn’t like boobs?
I’ve had various rodents over the course of my life and every single one of them responded well and reciprocated to affection. Many of them knew their names and came (individually) when called.
Doesn’t make much sense, doesn’t amuse me. Person doesn’t know much about birds or rodents, clearly.
Rabbits are in the order lagomorpha, not rodentia… even so, if people want to consider them “rodents” because of some physical similarity, they are very affectionate and more intelligent than people give them credit for.
All four of my rats are far more affectionate than one of my two dogs.
If only people knew. They’re smarter than most people, either way.
Rats are extremely affectionate. I’m getting my hand groomed by one as I type. I got two lap rats who love nothing more than to snuggle and kiss me. Even our cats and my dog aren’t this affectionate!
The rodent line is totally wrong. I’ve had hamsters and rats, and they’re both wonderful pets. Clearly this person has never had either.
My hamster is just about the sweetest thing in the world. She will snuggle right up to me and just stare at me while I pet her, even falling asleep because she’s that comfortable with me. The graph creator is completely wrong about rodents. The rest is pretty accurate, except reptiles are not affectionate at all.
wow, this entire thread is one person after another talking about how affectionate rodents are, with the occasional mention of how rabbits aren’t rodents. We get the idea now, thanks.
My gecko is quite affectionate (compared to most reptiles I’ve interacted with) and comes out of his cave when I come in the room and climbs on my hand when I put it in his terrarium, up my arm, and lays on my shoulder. Not quite the same level as cats, dogs, or rodents, but still affectionate enough for me!
If this person thinks rodents are not affectionate, then they have never had rats before….and they don’t know anything about the triune brain system.
Reptiles are biologically incapable of affection, and this has to do with the evolutionary development of the ‘reptilian brain’ (R-complex), where the focus is on instinct and survival.
Many reptiles will crawl all over you or sit still for a long time, but that is not to be confused with affection.
Don’t know why rats are that low on this graph, they are very affectionate. And I would place cats above the dogs in my opinion. They are intelligent and wild but still very affectionate, dogs only follow the packleader cause they don’t know better.
heheh.. the graph was ok.. sorta meh.. til i got to the bird part.. then i laughed.. cuz all the birds i had got totally mean and pissed off and yell-y when they got hungry.. my military mccaw would totally lunge at me and try to bite me when i would go to feed her.. hehe
My guess is they weren’t talking rats… but instead mice and hamsters… who really don’t care and only think about escaping.
My hamster loved me! Especially when I had cheese
Would be interesting to see how each category’s affection varied in relation to the other categories’ hunger. I’m thinking primarily of the rodents that are reptile food.
I think rodents got a lot of love. But yes, birds do get nastier with hunger.
Boo. The cat part is cliche and the rodent part just isn’t true. Also, the capitalization is inconsistent.
This is untrue. If anything, dogs are more motivated by food. My cats are always cuddling me, even though I am away at college most of the year and not there to feed them every day. They still tend to prefer me when I do come home.
Our dog, on the other hand (and I love dogs but ours is a mean S.O.B), is only nice to people if they hold out food to him. Otherwise, forget it. man :\
My dog pretty much ignores everyone unless he wants something, I think it’s a bit of a misconception that dogs are really affectionate it depends on the individual just like with any other animal
my hamsters ist cuddlie!!1!!
this chart sucks and so does who made it.
Hermit crabs are the best pets ever! Mine know their names, play with me, crawl around on my lap, they are very affectionate. They just have a bad reputation because they’re crabs and they have claws but i’ve had min for awhile and they have never pinched me. They like my friends and family too, they’ll play with anyone.
