Weekly Contest: Top 5 Highest Grossing Opening Weekends
Welcome fellow GraphJammers! Have you been feeling unappreciated lately? Does the thought of promotion seem impossible to achieve? Do you feel like your creativity has been stifled by middle and upper management? Are you seriously considering the advice of someone on a late night infomercial? If so, then cheer up! Because today, we here at GraphJam are starting a weekly contest based on anything pop culture or nerdy we can think of.
Here’s how to enter:
1) Make a graph about all or one of these movies
This week’s theme is “Top 5 Highest Grossing Opening Weekends”, including: The Dark Knight, Spiderman, Sipderman 3, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Shrek. We love all types of graphs, and our pre-made templates are always available for downloads.
2) Send them in.
Please send all contest submissions to graphjam+contest5movies@gmail.com.
3) Go vote.
GraphJam moderators will post your submissions on the voting page. Go vote! Winner (or winners) will be featured on the homepage and your name will live on in the glory of the Grapher of the Week listing (to be created).
Good Luck!

come again.? This is mildly confusing. Or im just really tired.
Iz ok. I dunno neither.
second xD
um, er. Is it just me, or is that only 4 movies?
there are only 4 movies listed. the word “including” is not exactly interchangeable with “including only,” “including but limited to,” or any other such word or phrase. good catch though.
I sent it into their Fail blog
But really, I think they mean Spider-man and Spider-man 3 as 1 movie. Like
Pirates 2 is just Pirates and Shrek 2 is just Shrek
But fail on the email address anyway. Clicking it gives me a space instead of the + in GMail. Am I supposed to merge the two words or put it in myself or what?
Damn, you beat me to it!
Actually, there are 5. Spider-man, Spider-man 2, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Shrek 2, and The Dark Knight.
Oh yea, that makes sense. Cause 2+2=5. Just reason it out with me. If you take a rope and tie two knots in it, then take a second piece of rope and tie two knots in it, and then tie to two cord together, you have five knots. DUH!! 2+2=5!
I don’t know why we didn’t understand this years ago.
No, there’s 5, The Dark Knight, Shrek the Third, Spiderman 1 & 3 and POTC Dead Man’s Chest
I think Titanic is the other movie in the top 5, but could be wrong about that
Titanic grossed the most overall, but the contest is for opening weekends, and I’m pretty sure Titanic didn’t open well. Or at least not as well as other movies. It made its money over time.
I’m pretty sure the email address used is just to thwart spammers. Remove the + but don’t leave a space. Some spammers are using harvesting scripts that will “catch” addresses that are written like bitemyass (AT) youspammers.com and similar.
In Gmail you can create filters with the “+.” If you remove the + there’s no telling where your submission will go. This helps us make sure your submissions for the contest end up on the voting pages in a timely manner since we have a huge backlog of stuff in our inbox.
Open your eyes – there’s already an @ there! Have you ever seen an e-mail address with two @s?
Re-read what I said. I didn’t say to substitute another @, I said remove the plus sign but don’t leave a space. Thankfully, Donkephant cleared things up by stating that you leave the plus sign in.
Do try to keep up with the rest of the class next time, Timmeh.
seriously guys… its not that complicated… i already sent one in and got a confirmation message. now voting… well, not sure where that will be, maybe they’re waiting to get a few before posting them?
