first!
first what?
Clever. Haven’t heard that one before.
But seriously, this is just listing all of the things mentioned in the Spanish Inquisition sketch… Where’s the graph-making skillz?
seriously, if u hav nothing 2 say, why bother? i think you fail here… as i fail in my speling…
that’s the first step in the program, realizing you have a problem
the spanish inquisition has already been done, sorta, on this site. but then again u cant have too much montyp.
Yes… yes you can.
(More of you can have too much QUOTING Monty Python. Oh yes.)
What happened to the comfy chair?
and “the rack!”
i wonder how many graphs there are on this site about either eddie izzard or monty python. their novelty is running out VERY fast.
NOT TRUE!
Show me another comedy group that can last over two decades, without making anything new for most of it!
im not saying they arent funny (yes i know double negative but its needed here), its just that it loses its novelty when people talk about it nonstop thinking they are cool for being the “only” person that knows about something (when they definatly arent) and a large percent of the graphs on here are about either of them.
I don’t think it’s so much that Monty Python is wearing out, as that
_specific_ jokes are wearing out.
The Spanish Inq. is one of them. Monty did a lot more than just that joke, though.
Just like Gilbert and Sullivan wrote other songs than ‘Modern Major General’.
would have been much funnier if there was a sixth wedge to the pie, but no explanation in the key… much more in line with the original source
My original submission was actually a series of five charts that that mirrored the progression of the sketch. The first chart was titled “NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is:” with a pie chart showing surprise and fear.
That was then superseded and overlayed with another chart labeled “Our Two Weapons are” with surprise, fear, and ruthless efficiency in a pie. Etc, etc.
Alas, only one of the five charts could be accepted apparently, and I don’t think it’s quite as funny stripped from its context.
To John F. Yes, your explanation of how you WANTED to submit it was the crux of the joke . . . and yes, I miss the best weapon: the COMFY CHAIR.
A lot of folks don’t get the pythons because they didn’t experience it when it was brand new — cutting edge humor. So much of what is funny today (THIRTY !! 30 !!) years later is derivative.
Keep up the good work — maybe I’ll have a go at a submission, myself!
you forgot about the great red speedo type underwear!
Needs more than one graph.
IN ORDER.
