Dude, I’m sick and tired of people thinking that the South is nothing but religious nut jobs and old people. Yeah we like our religion, but come on, we just give our opinions, its up to you Californians to decide whats right and whats wrong. And come on, I wasn’t born in the state of old people!!!!!

Hey, hey, hey………..we’re not brain-dead, we’re medicated. As I drive down the road in my hummer drinking my skinny hazel nut quad shot iced venti latte, running late to my tummy tuck because I’ve been medicated all week, I will gladly munch on my tofu energy bar while I pull up to my favorite dispensary and purchase another ounce of California’s own medicinal marijuana. Hey, it’s legit! I got a card……….hahaha.

I’m from texas, and while there’s maybe four towns in texas that fit the generalization everyone has about Texas, it’s definitely not like this. We have big cities, cars, not everyone drives a pick up and loves country music.
I went to new york on a school trip, and another group from a school in minnesota and they asked stuff like ‘do you ride horses to school’ and ‘do you have any roads’ and were completely serious. it was insulting…

I am Californian and I must say some of that is ture and mainly way off. When I think New York I think Gossip Girl, when I think Canada I think that one country above the needle thing or seatlle or something and spot on with Texas.
And C.A is not only blonds, sunshine, and famous people. The coast is like the desert, but the rest (minus desert) is all rainy and cold and dreary. And 1/10 people are natural blonds.

I’m from Louisiana, now living near Houston, Texas. When I first moved here people assumed I had a pet alligator and rode a boat from my house on the swamp to my one-room school. I guess people don’t realize that Louisiana isn’t ALL swamp. People thought I was a complete idiot. They would ask me if I knew what the simplest things were: a movie theater, a car, a period (not the kind at the end of a sentence. The girl kind). I couldn’t believe how rude these people were, it was insulting.

Heh. I live in Oklahoma, and people from the west and east coast still ask me if i ride a horse and live in a teepee.
The most annoying thing about telling people you’re from Oklahoma is when people start singing the song. I’m impressed when someone knows more than 40% of the words, though.

Over the last few years I have attended or visited some of the finest universities in California, full of students that got way better GPAs and SAT scores than any of you did, and maybe a quarter of the native Californians at these fine institutions could put all 50 states on a blank map. One HS validictorian and Stanford graduate recently asked me, “You mean there’s a West Virginia too?”

Lolz @ the East Coast including Chicago. This is a funny graph, but I’ve lived in almost all of the regions of the US (including California), and IMHO, I think that most Californians are brain-dead, plasticated, latte-drinkin’, Hummer-drivin’, pseudo-vegan assholes. Sorry, it’s beautiful and all, especially the redwood forests, but I can’t wait for it to fall off into the ocean.

Hi. I’m from North Carolina, which is one of the more progressive states among the vast pink sea of ‘religious nutballs who try to force their religion on us [Californians].’ I just felt the urge to comment on my personal view of how these, admittedly quite humorous stereotypes, actually break down. To start, these stereotypes are extant ALL OVER this nation. Here’s how I think it actually decomposes: in larger, more urban centers in every state (assuming your state actually has one or more of these places we call cities or metro areas) there is ‘Loud’ and ‘Obnoxious,’ mixed with a good amount of ‘Awesome,’ heavy doses of ‘Coffee,’ a sprinkling of ‘Canada,’ and some ‘Vegas’ here and there. In the smaller, more rural areas, there are ‘Fake Cowboys’ and ‘Religious Nutballs,’ all of whom drive ‘Pickup Trucks.’ Old people and, I’d like to add, Stupid people, neither of which have the decency to just die and let the rest of us get on with our lives, comprise a blanket ominously covering all areas, citified and countrified. That, folks, is what I think is sad, but true.

I know exactly what you mean… I’m from Louisiana; one of my best friends lives in Shreveport. That’s something like six hours northwest of New Orleans. She goes to college in San Antonio now, and people always ask her if Katrina damaged her house.

What i find most amusing is that California isn’t as cool as it wants to be. I was born and raised there (now live in Seattle). anyway, what no one, including people in California, seems to know is that the area between San Fransisco and Los Angeles is mostly podunk hickville. Seriously, it’s not much different from Texas (where i also lived) and is full of those same religious crackpots and trailer trash and COWS! cows and stink everywhere! then between San Fransisco and Portland is the mountain folk and hippies. Drive all the way from LA to Seattle via the 5 freeway and pull over a lot, you’ll see all kinds of farm folk and rednecks with W stickers all over the place. this does not apply to driving the 101, coastal Californians tend to be less country and more rich, so i’m talking inland central california.
