according to my data, “i want to break free” is much more gay-er than that.
I would have to agree with Moire. “I Want To Break Free” is beyond the gayness of Backstreet Boys. Though they certainly do rank up there.
I find this offensive. The whole “that’s gay” expression is offensive, and also irrelevant to this chart.
in reply, there’s no where that anyone is saying “that’s gay” but merely “that’s more homosexual” in a silly kind of way.
if you’re offended, buck it. i don’t know a single gay guy/gal friend who wouldn’t find a slight chuckle at this chart. or even a single straight guy/gal friend who wouldn’t either
i laughed and i’m gay.
i thought it was creative.
i don’t know about the placement of ‘to break free’…have you ever seen the video for “I Want to Break Free”? it is pretty gay: transvestites, male dancers in skin-tight suits, and of course, Freddie Mercury, who was actually gay.
He was more of an “omnisexual”. He’d have sex with anything with two legs.
They really didn’t need both legs, though
Thank you for proving me with a laugh this morning.
Finally, a creative graph!
Yesssssss….heading out to the Baltimore Pride Festival in a couple hours. What appropriate timing.
Yeah it’s true…Freddy Mercury was out way longer than George Michael
And just a *tad* more flamboyant
And the makers aren’t using gay as slang, they mean it literally
(except in the case of, say 4/5 Backstreet Boys, and that’s purely for humor)
To get more gay you have to go to “I wanna” “wanna be high, so high”
Great graph.
Right. Because gayness is so clearly defined and not drinking beer makes your penis fall off.
Like phantom_phairy said right above your comment – except for four of the Backstreet Boys, this graph is true. The artists behind all the song references are gay/bi/straight and are aligned on the graph the same way.
I’m gay myself (though a chick, so I don’t have a penis to have fall off) and thought this chart was hilarious. Oh, and I use “that’s so gay” when I’m not paying attention enough to say straight instead. Zomgspaz, I’m so politically incorrect! I’m going to hell harder now!
I like the broad appeal of “I want your sex”, but “I want to break free” surely deserves a position further –> “that way”. Surely!
In hindsight, the Queen song should have probably run from one end of the graph to the other.
good call
I can’t listen to “I Want to Break Free” without 1. thinking about the amazing Killing My Lobster sketch ( http://www.killingmylobster.com/content/view/465/50/ ) and 2. thinking about Cromartie High ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fh_GwrGdbzM ).
Wow… I saw John Lee Hooker’s song and the chart automatically became an epic win.
I saw “one bourbon, one scotch, and one beer” and was reminded of the Brobdingnagian Bards’ Jedi Drinking Song. It’s awesome (non-gulliverians, copy and paste to google – I know them personally and I still have to work to type it).
Many points for having the good taste to know Thorogood songs.
hi

I’m gay.
This graph is not offensive.
It’s goddamn brilliant. lol.
