I think this is fantastic!
wait wait… are the “yes” and “no” options on the second level swapped?
No they aren’t.
Until my Playstation can process and print letters I suspect my PC and my video game console will remain operating in their intended offices; and I don’t particularly want the hassle of converting a business tool into being a leisure tool because I, like most sensible people, will generally prefer the convenient and practical to the alternative nobody gives a crap for. Oh, and the second level is swapped.
Pretty much explains why I have a PC.
I’m an old school hardcore pc gamer, but pc gaming is dead.
Wrong
You swapped the “Yes” and “No” answers to the first question.
I have a life… That’s why I don’t play video games.
Brilliantly and sadly true
According to this chart, you should get a Wii. It says nothing about not getting one.
By “in a few years I assume you mean 5 or 6″ which isn’t that bad for an upgrade cycle when you think about it. PCs, however have to be upgraded at least once a year if you want to keep up with all the latest games.
Wrong Again. My 5 year old computer still plays games like Half Life Episode two at full settings at 50+ frames per second.
you, sir, are a LIAR. my 4-year-old rig can’t run HL2 at a decent framerate on full.
yeah, PCs are est for rts and anyone who likes modding and/or messing with crap more than actualy playing games. the fact is that consoles far better for shooters and any kind of multiplayer with people you actualy know (you know, playing halo with your real-life friends). besides, getting a new consoleever 5+ years is goint to be alot cheaper and less of a hassle than upgrading everything in your PC bit by bit over time or buying a PC good enough to handle games well out of the box. besides, when it comes down to opinion (which is really the most important part), most people (myself included) prefer the simplicity of a console controller. there are plenty of games available for both X-Box 360 and PC that i own (like Oblivion) and of course i prefer playing them on the xbox (not that my computer couldnt handle them, its just that i prefer the console).
Y”eah, PCs are best for rts and anyone who likes modding and/or messing with crap more than actualy playing games.”
Yes, PC’s are best for RTS. And most other games too, but the margin of ownage isn’t as large. And you mod/mess with crap to get the games running better and smoother than any console could.
“the fact is that consoles far better for shooters and any kind of multiplayer with people you actualy know (you know, playing halo with your real-life friends).”
Thumbsticks are so awkward for aiming. With a mouse, you can snap to any target almost instantly. You do have a point about Multiplayer though. Split screen on PC was “phased out” years ago. Still, PC’s can generally support larger multiplayer numbers over LAN or net, but most players don’t get to see each other play.
“Besides, getting a new consoleever 5+ years is goint to be alot cheaper and less of a hassle than upgrading everything in your PC bit by bit over time or buying a PC good enough to handle games well out of the box.”
If you like games, you’ll justify the cost and effort
“Besides, when it comes down to opinion (which is really the most important part), most people (myself included) prefer the simplicity of a console controller.”
Simplicity is another good point. Too bad if you want to do anything complex like key mapping. You could just plug a controller into a PC if the need for simplicity or familiarity is that bad.
“There are plenty of games available for both X-Box 360 and PC that i own (like Oblivion) and of course i prefer playing them on the xbox (not that my computer couldnt handle them, its just that i prefer the console).”
Ok, you stick to the console. I’ll just enjoy the slightly cheaper PC game prices and improved performance.
Amen!
NERD RAGE!
Xbox360 = $300 to play all the latest games
PC = $3000 to play all the lastest games or more to keep up with future games.
I generally concur; besides which, there are just as many (if not more) excellent console games these days that are never released for PC.
It’s perfect! and PC gaming is soooooo not dead!
Truest picture to hit this website ever…
PC Gaming FTW! I wouldn’t say PC Gaming is dead though…just troubled. I personally think piracy is a big problem, that was one of Crytek’s biggest gripes after making Crysis. While one could argue the fact that they had a limited audience to start with due to the resource hog Crysis is, I still think its a problem. Thank God we got things like Steam bringing a standard platform and protection against many of the turn offs of PC Gaming.
it seems both the yes’s and no’s are swapped. up at the top there should be a “do you want to play video games” with the no pointing to Mac. i own a mac and cant play almost any of the games from when i had a PC. it sucks.
Well, if you’ve got a Mac and want to play PC games, just install Boot Camp (this may require upgrading to Leopard), use it to partition your hard drive, and install XP. Then, you can boot up your machine either as a Mac, or as a PC in a shiny white case. Alternatively, you can try Parallels, which is a Windows emulator that is supposed to handle most games quite well.
Nope this flow chart is pretty much spot on , maybe the first question might be a bit better as “do you *know* anything about computer games” , I laugh so hard when I meet a console gamer, usually one with their lips firmly attached to sony’s rear end, who tries to tell me that they can play fps’s better with a control pad.
Its dead on about the wii being about real world friends tho cause the truth of the matter is they are just pointless and shallow to play on your own
I’m not much of a gamer at all, so I wouldn’t know, but gaming on a PC is that much better, hunh? Hmmm… good to know…
I agree with pretty much everything you just said. It’s kinda difficult to see why someone who says “no” to “do you like games” would then spend the £300 or whatever on a console…
Because, if you *really* like video games you’ll be willing to spend the big bucks on a pimped out PC in order to play the best video games out there.
Whereas if you’re just interested in more casual no fuss gaming (any console), being one of the cool kids (PS3), or having a laugh with your friends (Wii / 360) then you’d just splash out the £300 or whatever on a console.
Maybe the first question should be “Are you really serious about your video games?” Cause, I *like* video games, but they’re still just a hobby, so if it’s between spending $600 (minimum) on a pimped-out PC that only I am ever going to use, or ~$300 on a console where I can play with my friends, that’s an easy choice.
Should be “an” Xbox 360.
Since when is the letter “X” a vowel?
In this context it’s said as “ex”, which starts with a vowel. Pretty basic English. Joshua was right.
Does anyone else find it ironic that “accurate” is spelled incorrectly?
I didn’t notice until you pointed it out, but yes, that is hilariously ironic.
Yeah, the mis-spelling is ironic.
I also find it funny that it was only recently posted here… I have a copy that I saved of this *exact* graph with header from the end of January, and it wasn’t even new then.
this chart is made of win ^^
Not entirely true, but hilarious nonetheless.
The first question is a little ridiculous but the rest is hilarious.
I think the first question should be “Are you lazy?” Then switch the answers
In response to all you people saying how great PC gaming is I just want you to know that console systems are for people who cant afford a $3,000 computer.
You don’t need a $3000 computer to play PC games.
$3000 if you are an ignorant fool who goes to best buy to buy a gaming PC, where they simply show you an HP blackbird or something with a 9800GT and say IT”S GOT 4 GIGS OF RAM!!!!! and A QUAD CORE PROCESSOR!!!!
then you being a total fool buy it where as a true PC enthusiast builds the same PC for less than $1000. And that PC isn’t JUST going to game, it’s a multimedia HUB! Internet, music, and guess what you can’t do with a 360, encode video. hmm……
better chart
after no
do you have a life
if yes get a wii
if no, are you a normal school jerk
if yes get an xbox 360
if no get a ps3
Yeah, that’s a terrible chart right there, random dude.
You forgot one thing before the root question:
“Are you a middle schooler who talks smack?”
yes: go away, moron
no: continue on.
BOSS
Bwahahaha
Your chart = win and awesome.
well… for internet friends I would recommend some PC MMO
anyway, this chart roxx!
(PC gaming 4 ever! <3 )
it really depends on what kind of games you like. if you like shooters, kung-fu games or playing with you (real life) friends, get a console game. it you like rts or mmos, get a PC. simple as that
1 word. Spore
i hate when people assume its better to use a PC for gaming over consoles. if youre doing multiplayer online, consoles are the way to go. sure PCs are better for FPS control, but if im on a crappy PC thats all i can afford, im going to lose to Mr. High end computer because he has the money to spend. atleast on the Xbox, the equipment being used is the same as everyone else.
shooters better on consoles? Are you high? keyboard/Mouse is infinitely superior to controllers… Not to mention you can get 360 controllers for windows machines now if you have such a hard-on for console controllers.
Also, the guy with the high end computer isn’t going to beat you because you have your details settings lower so you have the same performance. The only times I’ve had problems in multiplayer due to system specs were back when i tried to run WoW on a dialup modem… the lag will kick your butt every time…
There’s no kind of game that is ONLY good on a console, but as a note, console-based button-mashers are kinda shoddy when they get ported (mostly due to clunky interface linked to those crappy controllers they used to run on)
Also, most good games nowdays are multi-platform anyway, with just a few months wait for the PC version (in which time the developers listen to consumer gripes and fix things to make the game better, ie Doom 3)
Because we all know we are defined by the video game system we buy, and not by our actions or ideas.
Though it’s a fun article. if you’re hopelessly materialistic.
Maybe some of you could use a good round-house kick
Are you looking for a disagreement?
Seriously.
Like you’re going to change people by masquerading as Chuck Norris and threatening with bodily harm.
Your life = teh FAIL.
Do you have a life? No? Money to burn? Maybe? Then add all of them to the list.
Any gamer geek who’s a real gamer shouldn’t restrict themselves to any one console or method. If you play the only ‘real’ games worth playing and everything else is gay, then you’re probably a frat gamer and no one else takes you seriously anyway.
As for PC gaming…my computer runs Bioshock smooth as silk and was put together for about $700 a few months ago. It doesn’t run blue ray DVDs, but can do just about anything else one could desire a computer to do as well as play games beautifully.
Oh….and dis chart ez ful uf win an lolz. Yis.
I have to disagree with this. I am an avid video game player, and have real life and internet friends, but i am an Xbox360 fan to the end.
what do we learn?
if you’ve got a PC, it doesn’t matter if you have friends
Every PC gamer I talk to just degenerates into griping about every game except the one completely obscure or obsolete game they for some reason decided to specialize in. So if you love griping about games more than actually playing them, go pc gaming.
Question above top should be:
Do you like wasting money on things that can become obsolete?
If No: Ignore Video games, buy Risk and a deck of cards.
If Yes: Do you like Video Games?
I’m mostly a PC gamer, and A: I’m not an arrogant asshole B) I’m not rich. I haven’t spent a dime on this computer other that what it cost to buy it. I haven’t modded it at all, I don’t run Linux and I can’t code. I agree with the part about prices for part etc, and the porting. I’m not talking entirely about any specific genre either. I don’t know what over clocking is, I don’t know about the newest parts, and I don’t call people who play on consoles are “ignorant masses.”
Just about every damn comment on this graph has been widely generalized and one sided.
Man, I’m a geek, since I love pc stuff i’ve and preffer one (I hate those console controls), but i must say, when a game is out i determined time, if you have the console for it you just go play, pc’s u have all the hardware thing. Anyway the pc is better, since I’ve tons of emulators (even for DS), I know that isn’t the same, but for a console u must buy the entire new hardw. if u want the newest games, on pc u trade some of and that’s ok.
I love games.
I have PS3.
I have friends.
5×1???????????
This flowchart is shockingly accurate.
FAIL. I like video games and the Wii is the best console ever. IF I WANNA PLAY GAMES WHY DO I WANT A FRIKIN PC?!?
Screw pc. im a 360 fanboy and i always will be
Obviously each individual console as well as the pc all have their own advantages. For example, an RTS should never be played on a console. It has been mentioned several times that a usable gaming pc costs much more than a console. While this is true at the moment, it is only because the current consoles have been on the market for a while. If you are the kind of person who goes out and buys the new console the instant it is released, that can get pretty expensive.
I agree. I got “buy a PC”. That would be my top gift next to a xbox 360!
