  1. armedtigercatt says:

I would think NOT is what they are not understanding. It’s like they only hear I’m interested, and blank on NOT.

  2. Jack says:

Yeah, I agree. They seem to understand “I’m” and “Interested” just fine. It’s that subtle (Sometimes not so) “Not” that they miss on.

  3. Kate says:

I was just going to say the same thing. Bravo, on reading my superior mind.

  4. Dustin says:

Uhhhh, am I the only one that realizes that the percents don’t add up to 100?

  5. Michael says:

    @ Dustin May
Probably just rounding. Adds up to 99%

  6. Suz says:

The missing 1% would be telemarketers who actually HEAR YOU when you say you’re not interested…

  7. rhe says:

Wow, I loved the idea of this graph, but what a sloppy job. I agree, they don’t hear *not* the most, and the %’s don’t add up. I would like to see more of these ‘life’ graphs…but do better next time

  8. PloCoon says:

Agreed; they never hear “not.” Of course, they have a commission to strive for…

  9. Anna says:

Oh, believe me, we understand all three words. But the words “tuition” “bills” “hungry” and “fired” run through our heads at the same time, and for some reason those words and my desire to obtain a BA create “I’M NOT INTERESTED” antibodies. And practically every company/npo/fundraiser/etc has the same rule: ask three times, then after they yell “Don’t you understand?” that third time, you get to leave and do it all over again in about 30 seconds.

As seen in the onion circa 2002

  12. Kelly says:

Well, from my experience being a telemarketer (for a political company, meaning we call you asking for money…), you have to say it “just” the right way, or they won’t take you off the list…i know. it sucks

try using a “please” next time
